Corruption is epidemic worldwide and its funny listening to people from EU,USA etc think they live in a 'free world' when there the most oppressed. Wealth is measured in many ways, how much fiat currency you own is not one of them! Its just that the average Joe doesn't understand money and believe what they hear over and over. Last time I checked "I'm rich" wasn't a valid defense. Maybe the real question you meant to ask was why do rich people go to jail less often than poor people? Well, maybe because rich people are less likely to commit the acts that most commonly land a person in jail.

Hmm... if Bitcoin ever gets mainstream, that will be a serious blow for all the rich people. Because the real value of the fiat currency will be reduced, and that of the crypto-currency will be increased. We might witness a wealth re-distribution, although on a limited scale.
