Not all of these church groups and other conservative activists are alcoholics and gambling addicts, there are still some that is in the right path but still, I am really disappointed with those leaders of religions that is doing something that they must not do.

Gambling is not forbidden in our church but a lot of people are portraying it negatively since we are betting money. It is not even banned in our place but the parents are saying it is not a good thing to do. Some people just do it for fun, and don't get me wrong we are just betting cents.

I think you meant to say, the more someone talks against something, and I agree with you because it is true about any forbidden thing or a thing regarded as a bad one. Gambling is just one of the things, which are very bad to you when abused, but can be tolerated or even bring you benefits if used properly. For example, one glass of wine per day considered good for your health in general, but no one would deny that alcohol abusing is a social and medical problem. Gambling as it is shouldn't be portrayed negatively, but the abusing of it definitely should.

Thanks for the correction. Very well said about the example, if its used properly you can have some good time and benefits on it.
But if you have used it on the wrong way and abused it, you are definitely doing it on the opposite way and results will be seen by the crowd and will put all the blame to gambling.
Not because an individual is careless but because of gambling itself.

Most psychologists believe that it is the same part of the brain affected by drug addiction that gambling addiction also tends to affect which is more like playing with the mind until it ruins. People's mindset towards gambling is what sets in the addiction, and looking at the fact that the possibility of losing is huge, I still wonder why a lot of people take such risk when there could be better risks to take.

Gambling according to religion is Haram or forbidden and almost the whole world forbids it, because gambling will have a negative impact and will harm yourself.
and in addition, if gambling continuously leads to an uncontrolled addiction that will make the loss even fall into poverty, winning gambling is just a luck factor and does not keep winning and eventually losing.

Because as the elders say, "gambling are for bad people only". With that mind set of people, they tend to pass that mind set to their community, making that community a hater for gambling. While in some places of the world, they potray gambling as their source of income. Like in L.A, they portray gambling people as the high class because they can play in casinos. It really depends on you on how the word 'gambling' means to you, is it bad or good? It's your choice.

Bullshit government doesn't make shit from most of the gambling activities, only some states in USA has legalised gambling but in majority of the world there are unregulated sites which is one reason why house edge for gambling sites are so low as they don't have to share anything with the government

It gives money to the government through taxes but to the user of those two that you mentioned are mostly losing everything to the user. Unlike in gambling, it may not lose any health related to the gambler. And these beliefs that has been passed for generations believed that gambling was always negative and it will never bring good to the people. That's partly correct but it will only happen if the gambler is really greedy and want to be rich quickly. Everyone has been oriented with the possible result so its portrayed negative all of the time.

Gambling got its bad name all over the world since there are already a bunch of bad examples in regards with the gambling side effects. Not only the gambler itself who will suffer from this type of game. People near the gambler could be affected as well ( family members, friends, neighbour, and so on ).

Sure, but it depends on the context: there are greedy people losing money, and unfortunately this is a majority and that is why it has such a general negative feedback. It is like with alcohol. There are abusers and they created all the bad press.

Many families and relationships was broken because of gambling. It is also a reason to commit crime when an addicted gambler ran out of money to gamble. And mostly of the gamblers are also drunkard and lost their mind when drunk. That is why gamblers have negative impact in the society.

Well, the negative thoughts of people among gambling has never change then. Many people haven't seen any good effect of gambling in the society because of what we've witness in our surroundings that gamble can cause trouble and problem when a gambler becomes addicted to the said vices.

It is not always portrayed bad tho. There are a lot of games that shows gamblers as the better part versus the casinos. There a lot of movies like 21, like oceans (even tho its about the thiefs and not gamblers its still against the casino owners) like rain man etc etc where people are shown as the protoganist and not the bad guys. So I guess it all kinda depends on why you gamble and not how you gamble. If you have a noble cause, gambling can be portrayed positively.

Yeah, gambling its perceived negatively because its an addiction and it can be very hard to come off it. Also, in most cases individuals can't stop themselves and end in very bad situations like selling even people dear to them, never mind selling their home.

Since gambling has been used ever since people already had their negative thoughts about GAMBLING, Gambling is actually portrayed in movies as an evil thing, gamblers = drug lords, criminals, serial killers, etc. As you can see that in most movies that GAMBLING is an evil act, since you are using money over money, skill over skill, wit over wit, and in some certain cases wherein your opponent loses it turns out into a royal rumble, this is what most movies portray about gambling, and this is one of the reasons why gambling is portrayed negatively.

That wasting of money is actually one thing that gambling will always be known for. The thing is that almost every gambler want to win, but higher percentage of gamblers lose with just very tiny percentage winning most of the time.
Looking at that kind of statistics, a lot of people still gamble anyway and still end up looking for what they possibly may never be able to get which is winning not forgetting the fact that the possibility of getting addicted in the process is so much there as well.
