Yes correct addicted person stopping gambling is not easy task they may face lot of physical and mental problem they want to control there mindset for this medical treatment required but some people will try other way like addicted for some offline games like indoor games and other stuff to make there time busy and they will stop slowly.

If the reason for addiction is money, then gambling is much of a desperation than a way to profit when someone who gamble is staking everything he has in life, mostly those who don't have a good way of living are basing their life on "luck" and "abuse" in where they could earn easy money...Which I think one of the reason why a gambler gets addicted..

I do not think people are getting addictive because of the profit they can make, I think they are getting addicted because they are enjoying gambling and later on get addicted, its similar as a game addiction.
You are right with this the point is that every gamble bet you are making get you more and more addicted, I think it do not depend on in what is your religion because everyone can try it once some get addicted because its enjoying and at some people not.

Yup! there are some one who is faithful in GOD that doesn't gamble at all I know some christian that take their faith to the next level and worshiping and teaching bible study to others that is truly their faith to GOD but even if you have a religion if you are not faithful then you can guarantee that he will sin and be addicted to gambling.

I think religion is also an impact on someone in gambling in Islam they prohibit gambling. because of its disadvantages would outweigh the advantages. so someone who has strong religious faith will not fall into a gambling addiction. just my IMO
Religion is an impact on someone doing gambling? I beg the differ. Every christian in my area knows how to gamble and do gambling. Especially if someone died, the week before they bury the dead, they will play Mahjong / Card games and most of them fight on those events.
Some people believe that the bible considers gambling as a sin but still they do it. People are sinners, indeed. The thing is, people always try to relate to religion every thing that causes them discomfort. For example, if a religious woman's husband gambles and then he has lost a lot of money, the woman will consider it a sin because it has caused them discomfort.
