I have paid little attention to Ripple so i did not know that.
When a coin has fundamental problems i don't dig further.
I should though because it would give me more ammo to FUD their ass harder  Grin

Ripple needs to be burned with fire.
I'd like to see them go bankrupt and file chapter 11 etc.
Or get sued and fined into submission.
cough cough FiNCEN.. you busy guys ? Wink
Where's the SEC when you need them ?

Ripple inc made Ripple XRP the coin ..don't lie and bullshit people here  Roll Eyes

yep this is true.

Remember when we seen recently how they unleashed 333 million tokens on the scene ?
Remember that ?
Remember how there was no warning or explanation ?
Well aside from one of the dev's showing up (who is a paid employee of Ripple inc) who tried to "guess" they did it for a good reason.
Did you notice at the time that it was coincidentally the right amount to unload on the public to leap frog over Litecoin in the market cap ranking ?
Remember that ? NO ?

Nothing unusual, just last week they distributed (sold) over 47 million:

TOTAL XRP HELD BY RIPPLE 62,705,174,585
TOTAL XRP HELD BY OTHERS 37,290,640,853
As of March 5th, 2017

TOTAL XRP HELD BY RIPPLE 62,657,673,585
TOTAL XRP HELD BY OTHERS 37,338,114,912
As of March 12th, 2017

So, I am wondering why Ripple is falling behind in growth in this current bubble. Why is nobody pumping ripple while every other possibly worthwhile or shitty coin? Does anybody have a decent explanation for me?

It does millions in $USD in volume a day and it's #5 in market capitalization for crypto. That's more than good for an alt considering the number of coins out there it competes with.

You know this how ?
Are you privy to Ripple incorporated's private financial books ?
You are able to see if and how much market manipulation they are behind ?
If coinmarketcap says it has big numbers you simply believe it ?
Ever heard of dev's buying their own coins to fake volume etc ?

All along Ripple has had a position far to high in the scene and many have questioned just who the hell is involved with buying / trading it etc.
It's been heavily suspicious all along.

We all know.. and we all heard the never ending big banks are using it NEWS stories too.  Roll Eyes
We all also know anyone can come here and post anything they like about any coin.
We seem them dragging their heavy bags over here from miles away  Cheesy

Remember when Ripple inc was fined by FiNCEN ?

The Ripple system is not an altcoin, although there is an altcoin called ripple (XRP) inseparable from it. Ripple was developed with the purpose of connecting the different payment systems. It is not intended to be a substitute for Bitcoin, but rather to make Bitcoin and other altcoins more accessible to the general public. An important difference from Bitcoin is that Ripple allows you to have access to all the information in an account, not just the transactions made.
So nothing can stop it now.

Ripple takes a fat steaming shit all over the very essence of the crypto ideology we all support.
The only people who would support it have sold out for money.

Ripple may be the VERY last coin in all of crypto history i ever touch.
I'd sooner go out and light my cash money on fire before supporting their bullshit inc.

Don't mince your words Spoetnik, tell us how do you really feel?

Do you actually know the meaning of pump. The price of these crypto currencies basically increase id people actually purchase the coin it works just like a stock market if you saw eth market cap increased so the price increased. If you have some 10 million dollar then invest in ripple the price will surely increase.

not 90%, approximately ~62%

It is not in their interest to crash the market.

United States of American Chairman of the Federal Reserve told his council that EXACTLY long ago.
He was dead wrong and the entire fucking planet was plunged into a mass recession we are still feeling the effects from TODAY !

Later Greenspan admitted he was 100% wrong.
He went from being deemed the Money-God gracing the cover of Time magazine.
To the laughing stock who fucked up the US economy and put a shitload of people on the street.

Ripple inc. is a business.
It is in the interest of any business to turn a profit.
What is stopping them ?
Well FiNCEN for starters but not much more than that.  Cheesy

Ripple incorporated ?
I would easily trust Microsoft or Facebook or Google or Amazon etc before i trusted them.
And i should not have to..
We are here for decentralized open-source digital currencies..
Not.. a company to be formed making private ICO coins for profit.

I think it is related with market dynamics. XRP has very potantial.

But need to wait patiently as in all other coins.

Bitcoin is weak and tihs factor have great advantage for XRP.

XRP tends to move between .0055 and .0075 but if you're not after a quick profit, I would say hold.

90% of the supply is in Ripple HQ's hands. Plus they can flood the market with as many coins they want.

Why isn't Ripple getting pumped?

Why is a centralized trash coin in the top 100 on coinmarketcap? I think that's the real question.

@Sukrim. Thank you for the clear response and explanation. You also mentioned that Bitcoin development seems to have ground to a near stop in the past few years, is this true? I though it was the most developed cryptocoin out there and that the core development team is one of the most active.

Here is my question for the people who know how Ripple works. Would it be possible for the platform to run without XRP? Instead of making a native currency, can bitcoin be used if someone created a payments platform like Ripple?

Yes and no.

The decentralized market of Ripple (the network) on top of Bitcoin makes no sense, since confirmations are far too slow and miners can choose what gets in their blocks exclusively. Using BTC to pay for transactions in a Ripple-like network that is off-chain is already in the works for quite a while now (caleld "Lightning network"), though its functionality is rather targeted towards transferring a single asset, not facilitating markets.

A pure decentralized market like Ripple could maaaaybe then on top of the quick transactions of Lightning use off-chain Bitcoin microtransactions instead of XRP as the neutral currency.

To enable Lightning though, one first needs to solve the malleability problems, which are part of SegWit, which is not very popular right now. Bitcoin development seems to have ground to a near stop in the past few years, so I'm not surprised that most platforms seem to prefer to issue native tokens instead of building on top of BTC.
