The main reason why some people creating their own coins is because it can bring them lots of money. Especially to those people who only want to get money or some greedy people, that's why many scam coins are popping up. Also they create their own coin because they know money is there, and they know they can get less loses but more gaining especially now that coins are become popular, so that the growth of coins is rising but not all them are worth it.

I think it is because of the competition, if they see that the projects is doing good or gaining a lot profits then they make a copycat of that project with just a different features. there are only few unique projects that is popping out and sometimes this kind of project usually fails because most of the investors always look for profit although the project have an originality.
I think people have different reasons. One simply interesting is the process of creating a crypto currency, others want to make money on this easy money, some want some power, quarters change the world and so on. Probably how many people are so many reasons =)
everything depends on the team . some want to earn money, others want to create new technologies, platforms, applications
They want to make money. Maybe quick money. Or just want to try if their project is good we can't know for sure. It will vary for every person.
sometimes i think that if half of the coin creators would consider to help another coin to evolve instead of copying it, crypto would be better and less toxic... there are a lot of meanless competition mainly created by communities and there are some coins that have a good idea and dont have enough people to make it happen

There are so many coins, but many of them just a copy of anothers. Why they waste their time for nothing? 
Because with these coins they want to express their opinions about what they have in mind and make a project which will be useful in the future. But now I think more and more ico have no clarity.

They create their own coin, maybe because they want to belongs to successful coins. There is nothing wrong with that. Each of us has a dream. You can expense for that project but if you can do it great, all your effort will pay you back. You can earn a profit from it.
People want to create their own crypto because they see its potential. Most people also think that cryptocurrency is the future and everyone wants to have some of that future. More and more people, companies, and countries are already adapting crypto in their system thats why having your own crypto will help you adapt to changing situation.
In my opinion is the money. Some want to finance their projects. Others want to make money fast. In my opinion, we should stay away from such currencies, and invest only in highly-developed teams.
