to prevent spam, it's just 4 hours...
Well, a good first reason is it makes it harder for persons to create sock accounts and troll/scam/etc. Also, it gives people a chance to learn and read, rather then spamming questions that have already been clearly answered many times before, as well as learn rules, trusted users, etc.

There would be hundreds of spammers coming everyday and mods already have a lot on their heads. Also, taking this as an insult is just silly. Why would you be butthurt about something that helps the forum community? Unless you're selfish... Innocent until proven guilty - just ban spammers.

Just posting here so I can (eventually) take part in discussions somewhere relevant. However if newbie status remains I will take my comments elsewhere. Perhaps should start a thread on the reasons for restricting newbs? I find it a bit patronising and disrespectful tbh.
You have to post once and then wait 4 hours. That's it. It's designed so you read up on things and don't ask annoying questions or spam outside of the Newbie section.If you have a better suggestion, post it here, and theymos will implement it!
