Altcoin will survive as long as cryptocurrency exists and bitcoin in particular. These coins increases when bitcoin goes up,too. Its volatility sometimes creates panic but this is just the risk and fear you have to overcome.

Not all altcoins will survive, now we can see them green in USD, but a lot of them red in BTC. I lot of them will die because there is no development or big competition, so we have to be careful with our choice.

The increase in the demand of bitcoin or ethereum does not stop the survival of other altcoins I believe, good altcoin will definitely survive while the fake ones will get blown away by the popularity and increasing demand of the bitcoins and ethereim. So I believe the good ones among the many altcoin will definitely survive no doubt.
