i think not , at least in this month, as we see btc is going crazy everyday, and there are no alt coin can beat it these days,
but all expectations are talking about close correction in the next few days, so all we can do is to wait and see what's going happen.

i don't think so that any crypto will surpass bitcoin in future because bitcoin is going famous with a fast rate and in future they will get more and more users as compare to present users and also the rate is increasing with a quick speed and this is because big investor are investing in bitcoin and if any new crypto came to market then it will take long time to get the present rate of bitcoin like we can see the some coins like ethereum etc which are good coins but will still very low as compare to bitcoin rate.

I doubt that other cryptocurrencies can overtake Bitcoin’s value. However, it’s possible if we talk about total cap or trading volume in some period of time. Theoretically it’s possible, but practically still cannot see any signs of that.

I'm sure once Bitcoin will fall and destroyed by government there will survive well valued coins only. there is a plenty tons of scam around but also a few projects which will change a world for real (not like bitcoin supposed to do)

I do believe ETH has the potential to do it.
From a first approach, if never heard about crypto, and just trying to compare both of them, you would put your money on ETH.
I started a few months ago, and after reading a bit about both, ETH is the real deal.

But who knows, so far BTC just kept on growing and growing.
Maybe in a near future.

By November 2016, Everyone was talking about Ethereum and Ripple surpassing bitcoin. Although most of them have seen some significant growth over time but there's no one getting the top spot anytime soon. Bitcoin though slow and expensive , hapoens to be the most preferred store of value. New ICO tokens won't get the kinda adoption bitcoin has. The first mover advantage Smiley

I tried to do some micro transactions, say send 1 USD via bitcoin, trying to use a "low fee". I mean I think it's fair to pay 10 cent fee for 1 dollar, 10% is quite a lot, actually, even the Electrum wallet warned me that it's a considerably high fee for such a transaction. Unluckily the system thinks it's "low fee": the transaction pending since days and there is no option to cancel it, I can only increase the fee. But honestly why should I pay 0.1 mBTC to send 0.1 mBTC? It looks ridiculous to me.

I believe hat the cryptocurrency that will "win the battle" (I mean the battle for its usage, e.g. if you want merchants to use a cryptocurrency, payment confirmations must happen withing seconds, not "within 25 blocks" or whatever not precise timing that is) will be one that fluctuate less, has low fees and it's fast to process.

I recently tried Litecoin and I was impressed with its speed (speed was the same, using a lower fe or a faster one, a transaction was confirmed in both cases within 10 minutes). I read that Bitcoin is planning to implement LN, this will be a very good thing. I hope it's gonna work like litecoin.

A friend told me he believes that centralization is not necessarily a bad thing. Look at ripple.

Sure if I'm a bitcoinaire and need to send 1 bitcoin from one wallet to another and lose a couple of dollars each time, why not. But if I need to buy something with bitcoin, it doesn't look usable for now. For the use, it can be definitively be surpassed by other coins.

For value/investment: mighty bitcoin is influencing the trading value of all of 'em (altcoins) for now. So if you wanna invest, BTC is the option now. But even other coins. Surpassing, I don't think. The media will talk mainly about bitcoin, so this is the one being hyped and people will try to buy and use bitcoin more than the others... for some years.

Of course it will. Ethereum has good chances, but also good other projects. Bitcoins technomogy is outdated, the speed is ridicilous and who wants to pay fees around 5-9 dollar for a transaction. I think in 1-2years, ethereum is unfolding its full potential. It is already been accepted at many places.

Remember Nokia? Myspace? Who thought they willbe surpassed by anything newer, better? Everything is changing in time.

hahaha - don't you know they nickname altcoins to be "scamcoins"?

Bitcoin is ultimate store of value and its popularity has strengthened over time and maximizes value compared to any other altcoin...why?:
It is the most globally distributed in terms of users (this makes it globally fair) and distributed miners
If it can be shutdown, and have assets frozen by a bank or government, there would be no value
If it wasn't secure, there would be no value.
If it wasn't immutable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't globally distributed, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so strong, open-source decentralized and unstoppable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so scarce, there would be no value.
If it was easy to spam transactions, there would be no value
If it was stopped after all major banks on Earth banned in 2013 to today, there would be no value. (say "bitcoin" when transacting and watch the block of the transaction. simple fix=never mention "bitcoin").
If it didn't have the history of 8+ years (and still no hacker can exploit bitcoin blockchain), there would be no value
If it was exactly like fiat and only did transactions, there would be no value.

Bitcoin has all the characteristics needed combined to make the most value and increasing more than any other financial-asset option coming from the manipulated fiat central-banking debt-system.

To my opinion bitcoin has become too strong and there is no danger of any other cryptocurrency to surpass it and takes its' position. Besides the high price bitcoin has much better acceptance and also partial regulation and adoption by private companies and bussines and that is something that other cryptocurrencies don't have and it's importan in the market. Some altcoions like ETH wil be successful in the future with the tendency for further rise but it can't come even near bitcoin.

The age old question since the rapid growth of altcoins that started all those years ago.

The best answer I can come up with is, "maybe". But I will tell you something though, the cryptocurrency that might replace Bitcoin will not be Bitcoin Cash.

So which coin are you thinking, Maybe Dash??

No, not a scamcoin with a premine. It will be something better than Bitcoin in scaling, fungibility and maybe also energy efficiency. But definitely not Dash, no way.

I think that it might still be very far enough just because that bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that is being really acceted by a lot of companies and a lot of countries. However I still think that a competition in bitcoin is a good thing to have as it can spark a lot of price surges too

In terms of price I can't guarantee that. Bitcoin has been more of a store of value. But the original aim was to use it as a digital currency which it lacks abundantly now. There is no way to send a small transaction without paying higher fee unless you wait many days for confirmation

There are many alts out there that has already achieved fasted and fee-less transfer of coins. Unless Bitcoin overcomes these issues I don't see the point of using it as digital currency.

I dont think so both in terms of marketcap and price. Adoption level is quite high and the demand too as well as a strong bitcoin community is supporting bitcoin and promoting its use cases. Bitcoin will remain as payment giant for many years to come.

it's not impossible to surpass bitcoin if any cryptocurrency have potential and cover the mass community even just mobile community then it is possible to surpass bitcoin. but this will take time to overcome bitcoin.

I don't think so that there would be a coin, or there is a coin that can surpass bitcoin. Bitcoin is the mother of all the coins here in the cryptocurrency world. But I'm not sure about it, what will happen in the future can't be told by anyone, so for now, Bitcoin for me is the superior amongst all of the coins here in this world. As the day pass by, bitcoin's is like on a rampage, its price can't be stopped by other coins right now, and this is the best time to sell your bitcoins.
