On March 8th, Cheollima Civil Defense(CCD) released a video on its website claiming:” Han Sol, the son of Kim Jong Nam, and two other family members were met quickly and relocated to safety. “ And they receive bitcoin for financial support. This is something nice to do. BUt what if bitcoin be used to support some bad organizations, even terrorists? Is this already happening?

That is feasible and possible. If US dollars can be used to buy our necessities it can also be used to finance terrorism. Bitcoin as a currency can also be used in buying our necessities if the local merchants will accept it and at the same time it can be also used to finance terrorism. What I mean is the use of any currency will depend on the intention of the holder. Whether it is bitcoin or dollar the government must secure that both will not be used to fund terrorism and cause many deaths.

Bitcoin is just money or currency, to whatever things it is used depends on the person who have it. So, Bitcoin ca be use in supporting bad things the same way as supporting good things.  So definitely, Bitcoin can be use to support terrorists or terrorist activities.  Even money that has been regulated for centuries are being used as such.

We don't know the answer to this question if bitcoin is being used in terrorism. Maybe yes, maybe no. Let's just hope and pray that bitcoin is not being used for those kind of things. Thank you.

Right now it's easier to stick to fiat for this kind of "thing".

Terrorist are not going to risk their money into dubious exchanges and in no way they are going to start exchanging 100$ via localbitcoins.
They need money, a lot of and sadly large transactions in the blockchain can easily be traced.

You're not "funding" terrorist with 100k a month.
Also, good luck using bitcoins in Syria or Iraq.

I think bitcoin should be used as best as possible. if bitcoin can not be used wisely can certainly lead to negative things.
as terrorists, they can take advantage of the distribution and transfer of funds to commit a crime.

Bitcoin can used for different domains. By the way, i don't like this idea about bitcoin be used to support terrorists. Fiat also can be used to these bad things.

Bitcoin is a money, you can convert it to money so yes. but this is the bad side of using it. When terrorists cashed by anonymously bitcoin transactions.

Of course it will. If it hasn't already then it will eventually. Terrorists like a bit of convenience just as much as the next man.
Bitcoin provides convenience to all sort of illegal and terrorist activities due to the pseudo anonymity and decentralization.

No one can really tell whether its being used or not we can only assume its possible because I have not read of any breakthrough investigation into terrorist activities that has been reported to have been possible through the use of bitcoin at the same time even if that is achieved, it does not mean all bad for bitcoin even fiat has been used for illegal activities and that does not mean its banned from being used again...

Here comes the question: if bitcoin be used for evil purposes, will we be able to stop them? And who will lead the effort to stop them?

In the future when (not if) bitcoin is regulated and network centralized, the combined effects of regulation + centralization itself will be able to limit actions that any person can take with bitcoin. And that includes funding terrorism.

Of course with current network structure, any limitation to impose on what a bitcoin holder can and cannot do is not possible. But once everything is in place, that will be a possibility.

I don't think there is a big difference between fiat and bitcoin, of course, the value is a difference, but the same terrorists are doing their activities with fiat currency only when compared to bitcoin. In order to convert bitcoin they need fiat currency first, yes there are some people who are using bitcoin for terrorist activity.
The difference between Bitcoin and fiat is very little and the Governments and people that promote bitcoin as a terroristic thing don't know the technical side of Bitcoin.
The news that they get is usually from some dude who didn't even research what Bitcoin was about and just decided to banter on the subject in a negative matter.
If more journalist did their jobs then there would be a little amount of square people on this topic..

I don't know whether OP knows complete information about terrorist activities for buying weapons, food etc are they using bitcoin. It is complete a trash because now there are very limited stores to buy food and other stuff, right now it is not possible. Mainly they are dealing with fiat currency only I think.

I think many terorist are used bitcoin already by receiving and sending money for buying weapons in black market.. this is already been discuss before and i think they are still using bitcoin as of now.. remember many terorist in the black market who are selling weapons or buying weapons.. but bitcoin is not made just to support terrorist since bitcoin is made to use for paying services..
Actually, there are more terorist who used fiat money to buy some weapons rather than the terorist who used bitcoin to buy/sell weapons. It's clear that bitcoin isn't made to be used for illegal activities that are against to the government or nation since some governments in other country are now supporting bitcoin to be used as majore currency which indicate that bitcoin is a legal currency that its user shouldn't be discourage to initiate using it for online transactions.

Any currency can be used to support terrorists but it is not the fault of the currency itself...the only thing is that since Bitcoin is new it is raising some eyebrows and there are still so many people who are not convinced of its viability. Fiat currencies are being used to finance terrorist activities but they are rarely mentioned because it is pointless doing so. As to Bitcoin, this scenario is something it can not avoid because of its supposed anonymity feature but Bitcoin transactions can still be traced and we know it so it is not actually 100% anonymous. Unfortunately, we can not command terrorist groups not to use Bitcoin.

Can you be 100% sure Fiat is not used. And wait a second what is Bitcoins converted into Fiat only right. And do you agree that there was no transactions link to verify this story. It could all have been paid in cash and for the sole purpose of diverting people attention it was said it's been paid in Bitcoins. Sadly ya I do agree people could use Bitcoins for shady purposes, but that's very small amount of people not all do. These are kind of people get the Bitcoin community  the bad name.

The world industry also supports terrorists.
The guns are made by industry. The chemicals for the bombs are made by the industry. The phones they use to communicate are made by industry.

The central banks support terrorists.
The central banks issue the money, right? The money is used to buy their food, their guns and everything.

Now really, these "X supports terrorists" threads are tiresome. Almost everything in this world can be used for good and bad.

Bitcoin are not generally used  for funding terrorist group. Banks already support money laundering, you can google some bank scandals. Yes bitcoin can be used for the same but so anything that have value. Due to the limited use of bitcoin, it is still not preferred.
