This is commonly found with gambling platforms. Once lost is lost, and this kid could've experienced it for the first time. Over time he'll understand better about gambling and realise his mistake. Maybe by the time he could be in hard debt. By now the parents need to start monitoring and keep things in order.

I've personally did this during the very early days of gambling. Small losses doesn't affect us big, once I wagered big and lost everything. I requested the support team and they were clear with the explanation. Out of my situation, they took my request to the higher authority and from there I got the same response. So, we need to be careful while spending on gambling platforms.

He can plan to win a large amount but doesn't know whether he can win a large amount or lose it all. It would be unwise for him to do that because it would cost him all his money. If he uses it for gambling and loses all the money, the gambling company will unlikely return the money to the child.

He had already lost everything and he couldn't beg for his money. What if he loses? And if the company asked for the money back, would the child want to return it? Gambling companies are not charitable companies that can return money used for gambling. So this is a lesson for the child not to do it again in the future, whatever the reason.

That is why underage children are prohibited from gambling because they can use all their money to gamble. And if the money is for school fees while they lose, it will make things difficult for them later. Hopefully, no more underage children will use their school money to gamble.

That boy was trying to freeroll the sportsbook, if he won the bet, he probably wouldn't reveal his age and walk away with his winnings. After things went south, he's trying to find a way to get his losses back, similar to the cases that we sometimes see here in the gambling section.

I doubt he'd get a refund when it's already too late and maybe it could've been a different story if he was caught while the money is still in his account.

Why should the gambling platform return the money? The money was used to gamble and lost. Whether that money was supposed to be paid for school fees or for food or for bills or for medicine is immaterial. That doesn't matter.

But here's the twist which I think could happen even on top gambling sites. Had the money won and the gambling company learned that the gambler was a minor, they could have declared all games null and void, and they wouldn't pay him at all. He violated the terms. He lied. He shouldn't have been playing in the first place. Worse, the platform could have locked the account along with the money deposited.

This 16-year-old guy made a terrible mistake, and he deserves what he's getting right now so he can learn from it and never make such a decision in his life again.

But let's look at things this way: most gambling sites have a rule of not allowing anyone who is under 18 years old to bet on their platform, not just a few casinos but almost all, as these rules are also applied to street and real-world betting shops.

Now if it happens that this boy was lucky enough to win this bet, he risked his school fees to play, and the casino owners later found out that the boy is under 18 years old and yet he used their site to gamble and earn that more, will they agree to pay him his winnings? I doubt they will, as casinos don't joke with their rules, especially when they know they are the ones to gain more from the incident. So why can't they treat this matter as an underage gambling situation and look for possible means to make things right? At least take the right decision for one's

People nowadays really using the power of social media just to get advantage in every situation either it's good or nonsense, especially if it trends. The management should take this seriously and shouldn't listen to those who side with the boy, it's him to blame in the very first place.
And just like that, the management already said their side and so be it.

This is actually one of the lamest questions I've ever read in here... It's obvious that the funds cannot be refunded for any reason; the casino said that for more clarity already...so what's the point of asking insensible questions ?? To me, this post has no quality at all and should be put down. if you were really keen about writing on this, then there'd have been a better way to do so...

gambling shouldn't be presumed a way to make money; only a few have made it through that route randomly...so I feel it's not worth the time, stress and anticipation... To y'all out there still below the age of 18, avoid gambling away your funds!!

Weekly quota posters are here again. Your vast knowledge in the society is narrow. Let me tell you a story, which was told by an elderly man in a Moonlight story time. "A biological father of a daughter impregnated her and his wife took him to the law court, and in practical, the man bought a new suit and torn it in the courtroom and told the court that he own the suit and used it the way he wants and he won the case". What is the moral lesson, when you take a case to the law court, it is the capability of the lawyer will tell you whether you will win or not. If the boy took the case to court and he has sound lawyers he might win the case and all depends on the angle the lawyers will look at the case. Yes we all know that the boy violated the Terms and Conditions of the casino but if he want to take it to the court, then he has the freedom to do so, and I also believed this is a good discussion thread so that when it happened again , this might be a reference thread to solve issues so I don't see why you said the post is low quality, yet you contribute. Can you define low quality post? So I can learn. I don't want to exchange words.

The gambling platform has no obligation to refund the money. They didn't force anyone to play in the first place.

If that company will refund the money out of consideration, for sure many will likely do the same since it is a possibility and chance to refund the loss money in case of a loss. I feel pity for the kid but I do side with the decision that no money should be refunded and serve that as a lesson to anyone.

What the gambling company can do is, talk with the child and put him under good counseling to prevent further emotional damage.

He playing dumb after losing his money. Anyone who bet is expecting to win and if this boy wins, he will get the money.  But this will teach the kid a lesson about risks.
While I agree that his money is not to be refunded for him to learn his lesson.  It is too mean to post the image of the boy, whoever posted the image of the boy does have the intent to shame him.

Now he has to answer to his parents while his parents will also be put to shame.
I think the question actually should be, how did the media got to know about this incident?, was it the betting company that shared this incident with the media, or was it the boy himself, who ever shared this with the media is the one who shared also shared the boy's image, and in this case, I think it's the boy himself.

Judging from the fact that he is still too young to understand how important privacy is to one's life, most especially in this generation we live in, he probably shared this on one of his social media account with his pic, and the media finding it an interesting story took it up.
Yeah it seems the post blew up and the media feast on trends like termites. You'll see similar posts about this on multiple blogs, soon. The boy is meant to have a name and with that, his photo can be found maybe on Facebook. The boy's problem is double. He doesn't understand the implication of gambling as an underage. Experience is the best teacher. His peers may have staked their school fees and he's trying to imitate them. The kid needs an Iphone. Or whatever may have been freaking him out, to take such a decision. If the casino refunds him, what do you expect of every other person who lost money in the casino. The question or this thread, have a simple answer. Casinos follow strict rules and chatting with their social media manager cannot change anything. It's impossible to refund him! I don't think he is addicted yet. He is anxious of what could be the outcome of his decision. A remorseful teen, wouldn't post his nonchalant attitude online, seeking for help. Teachers need to begin moral instructions for students like this boy. He's not stopping soon, if care is not taken. The possibility of him, paying the school fees even when refunded is very thin.  If gambling can mess with adults, what more a 16 year old? nothing unfamiliar. We see worst cases, not just online, but in our society. I've seen people risk their school fees and lose. But, they always have a way of tricking their parents, as a plan B. It still boils down to waste of resources for the family of the boy.

Is it possible? Yes. Will they do it? No. Is it because they don't want to? Possibly.

Lots of people quick to judge the casino here for the prickly reply but the kid is just as much to blame here. You could argue that it was because he was still prepubescent and therefore isn't on the proper mindset that an adult would have but at the same time, it's just massively stupid. Regardless if you win or lose there's not much to gain from betting your tuition and even I know that lol. Hopefully he gets a pretty good ass-whooping after this (which I'm pretty sure he would cause this is Nigeria we're talking about and the level of parental discipline there is just as great if not better than SEA punishments but I digress) as he definitely needs it. Let this also be a lesson to parents becoming more vigilant on what their kids are looking up on the internet.

Dumb decisions bring you dumb results. It's not a matter of what you hope to fix by doing that. Sure, if you suddenly killed off half of the world, wouldn't the other half have better opportunities, space, food, etc.? Would you do it? That would be no, cause you'd probably die first, maybe second. There can be a ton of solutions for a problem with varying methods, and it's up to you to filter out dumb ones from that, regardless of whether you want to help someone or not.

I highly doubt casinos would offer a refund, the image already says it all. They RARELY do refunds, if ever at all. They're a business, not a charity. In the first place, it was the kid's mistake for gambling when he was below 18. It might be grounds for a legal punishment on his side if it ever went to that. If it involved KYC, then boy the one who's identity was used may even be included in the punishment as well.

In the gambling platform, there are different stories every day across the world. This 16 years Nigerian citizen used his school fees to play bet and was planning to win big amount so he can use it to solve other problems but along the line he loss everything and he went to the contact of the company and begged them to refund the money back to him because it is his school fees.
The 16-year-old guy is a fool, sorry for saying that. He thinks the gambling site will give him back the money. That is never going to happen. Only what can now happen is for people to open a lawsuit against the gambling site for allowing underage gambling, but I do not think that is going to happen. We saw on this forum too as a young school guy gambled and lost the money and killed himself. In those countries that things like this is happening, gambling is not well regulated, and nothing will be done about it.
Even if the boy is not underage and he is above 18, no casino will give back money that you lost to them in your gambling activities back. The boy thought that he can gamble with his school fee and after his lost, he will beg for the money and using the excuse that it was his tuition fee that he used will make the casino have pity on hime but he doesn't know that casinos are different from your friends or relations that can have pity on him and refund back the money.

It is obvious that many underage people gamble secretly and have no idea of what they are doing because they are not working, and they will end up using the money that is been given to them for something important to gamble or they will end up stealing to gamble. This is one of the reasons why we must keep out gambling activities secrete from our kids.

When I read the title of this thread, I immediately thought: this boy's parents are very disappointed in them and should seek psychological help for him, because this boy is more likely to have become addicted and is not just addicted, but addicted at the level more advanced, advanced level and when a person starts betting with money that they should not have the luxury of losing and that is not theirs. I highly doubt that this boy was his first time making a bet, he probably already has a longer history of betting and using money that shouldn't be used to place bets, my theory is that he was already used to doing this type of thing of things, but as money values were low, he was able to hide it by replacing the amount spent

but this time because the addiction had already consumed him and he was accustomed to using money that he could not afford to lose, he took the money to pay for school and lost it and he probably realized that it would be more difficult to replace that. money so early to the point that the school was not pressured to pay, as he had no other choice, so he decided to ask the casino to give him the money back. But in this story we need to look at it with a more emotionless look, maybe the boy was lying and wanted the casino to give him his money back so he could play again or maybe this boy was actually telling the truth. But the question is whether or not he is sorry for his bad actions

The boy's parents are partly to blame, they were negligent in not paying attention to the things their son has done every day, because as I said earlier, I highly doubt that this is the first time this boy has done something bet, he's probably been in this world of gambling for a long time and has become addicted to gambling, I highly doubt that I'm wrong about my theory, the parents will have a lot of headaches when dealing with this child

This is a serious issue, but I don’t think the gambling site will pity the boy. I haven’t seen or heard about any gambling site refunding money to their customers after losing. The boy is underage, he violated the gambling site rules, which give the gambling site the right to block the boy’s account even after winning, but unfortunately the boy lost. I don’t know what the boy will do, but I don’t think there will be anything like a refund for the boy.

It’s just painful when I see stories like this. Children should be given proper orientation about gambling from their parents, don’t hide anything from them, tell them all what they have to know. Children should know that gambling is not a place where you can multiply or increase your money. A boy like this can end up doing illegal things just to source money to pay his school fees back.

Will the Gambling Sportybet (Company) Refund the Money?
It depends on the casino, but it is customary for money not to be returned to those who lose their bets, it doesn't matter if the bettor is a minor or an adult, what is certain is that a loss is still money lost, If the casino returns the money, it is dangerous, it could be infected again by those who have the same fate as the child, the parents will also demand the same thing.

Question: what if the child gambles and they win, the parents will be happy, will the casino ask for the winnings again, of course not.

In fact, in cases like what happened to this child, the ones who should be blamed are their parents and the casino.
1. Parents do not supervise their children in gambling activities, they should control their children.
2. The casino is also guilty of allowing underage children to gamble there.

This must be blamed on both parties, demanding the money back is not an option, parents should be a valuable lesson in this case in the future where they really deal with their child's activities, the same goes for the casino, minors are not allowed to enter.

In my opinion, the child was not betting for the first time, perhaps it was the umpteenth time, perhaps that day by chance bad luck happened to the child.

This Legit Buzz spreads it for the clicks, blogs always want to find clickbaits and found this boy. Why this boy also uploaded the video is beyond belief.

You can't seek attention that way where you put your life story under the spotlight for the world to see. I already heard the song not sure what it's about but the idea I think was that he was calling mother for help.

Is it possible for the company to refund the money to the boy? As for me it is not possible because the played the game and loss. And also the boy was too small to gamble because gambling is meant for mature mind because you have you to face things like and when you loss, you have to move on. And these are some the reasons why casinos always specifying that before you play gamble, you must be above 18 years plus  that is in short form 18+ and some people and sportsbooks ignore this warning and this is one off the result. Click the picture for more information.
---

No, that boy would be facing up the consequences on what he had done because if he do make those amounts to win then for sure he wont really be making some complaints but rather he would play more.  Cheesy

The best form of resolution for the boy right now is to open up to his parents about his mistakes and predicament and face the possible punishment for the sin committed because his parent will be the only one that can give him another school fee to avoid dropping out of school due to lack of payment of fees,  but bringing the issues to the public instead of handling it within the family may seems a little bit of wrong move to me since who knows his parents may get the information from the news before he thinks of telling them.

Unless the image shared in the ops is not the real image of the student of it is then I will say that he has sold out his privacy and that can increase his risk of getting help,  but looking at the situation of things I don't think the casino will make any form of refund to the ops.

Its not an excuse that you are that a minor or whatever reasons it might be,because you had that decided to take up some betting then you are really that responsible with your actions and its true that
most of sites or casinos does have that kind of age reminder and whatever those terms been flashed out on the time that you do really make out some bets or tend to make a deposit. There's no way that
a site would really be granting out that refund request after you have decided on taking up a bet. Its all final and that boy would definitely be needing to face up those consequences and realize for himself that
gambling is never been that recommended for those young people and doesnt have that their own money to play on.

Being thinking about those amounts on being big or getting how many folds then it could be possible with gambling but we must know the odds on losing those funds
and this is something that could avoid us from harm if you are really just that minding about those risks.
