I don't see it hitting $5 this year as that will require more than 200% to the current price and pumping due to the app launched to me is a way to manipulate coin , cos I don't see any good reason for price to pump all in the name of one event or doing what they are suppose to do, and now they launched the App and the price plument again , does that mean the App is useless now or are not in use again , so I see all these FA thing as a way to manipulate price and it is common in crypto now and we all need to change from that perspective and think of how to make the blockchain more useful not just money making thinking.

I just realized the waves coin has climbed to rank 32 in coinmarketcap, last time i see it was on below rank 40.
Although hitting $5 is possible, i don't think that is an easy task to accomplished by waves coin.

i don't know about the future, but one point can i say, it is posible for waves hit price $5 from the end - begin of year 2019, i'm buy waves at price $15 but as you can see now the price is no more than $2/Waves 
During the last two weeks, the price of Waves went up by 100%, but after that most of this gain was lost. And I don't think that there is good future potential with Waves. The number of alts using that platform has gone down.

Anything can happen in this space and when given a good condition. I have seen markets increase hugely over time, so in a way, no one can actually tell how things would end up as but one way or the other, the chances of waves increasing when the market generally is in a good state is pretty there. Nonetheless, markets are not predictable, so the only best thing we can do is to buy now, be patient, look at how far the market goes and know how you want to be treating the market from there. If ETH can move from about $6 to over $100 within a year, you know what can happen to any other market.

The good thing about waves is that there has been a lot of development lately and I feel it is one potential giant in this market and those who are keying into that future would likely be getting the best of it in the long run. However, there is no one who can tell exactly what the price of waves will be in the long run. For the waves it is very hard to reach to that value if the market is not good but in a brighter market the price will be much higher. In this regard we all are sure because we all know that in the coming months the market will be good and all of the coins will rise in value much bigger. 
Seeing the market situation getting lower, I am very unsure if the waves can reach 5 USD in 2018, even when the market is bull, I'm still not sure the waves will reach 5 USD, because many waves of investors are switching and leaving waves coins.
