That's what actually i am doing because i've been hodling for a couple of months now. I believe that bitcoin will always comeback as i see it on the history of bitcoin backed by experts' speculation that bitcoin has not yet reached its peak.

I want to say that nothing is impossible in the world of cryptocurrency, you should not be too pessimistic if the end of 2018 bitcoin only touches $6k - $7k. I think bitcoin at the end of this year will reach its newest ATH and it's very possible because so far the bitcoin price movement is so unreasonable Cheesy
There are no more fuds presents now, if only there will be some hyped again even once I think it will start to boost continuously, many lost hope when they bought btc before at peak, that they think its no longer wait for the hold, but soon they will realize how they lose their opportunity and just choose to give up.
FUD or no FUD, the future has not changed. In fact, I have always loved sane moments like this compared to the bullish moments when everyone is just busy getting greedy. The fact that at least, we can have some few periods to keep stashing up is good enough for me.

A lot of people see downtrend as a problem but I see it as the best moment any serious investor who understands the future will take advantage of. Let's leave hype aside for now and let us focus on the real usage in the future.

I've made up my mind already since i started doing cryptos. It's been a  challenge for myself of hodling crypto assets that i have despite of crypto crisis these days. I am still optimistic that bitcoin will come back again strong.
I really do not expect holding to be a challenge for someone who understands the impact what they are holding will create in the future. I believe we have not seen anything yet. Unfortunately, the bigger players are gradually beginning to see this while some people in this community keep looking at bitcoin recovering or not and they are starting to accumulate knowing it is the future and it would make no sense not holding a lot of it.

The rich will just keep getting richer, isn't it ? Recovery is normal for any market, and downtrend does not change what the future holds for a strong market that is disrupting so many things.

No more fud right now but that doesn't mean there won't be any coming. There will still be a lot coming our way so best be prepared. Mt.gox will resume selloff sept. So many are probably looking at that to sell as well before it happens. I'm pretty certain btc will recover though but if not, crypto is a very broad market and i believe in what it's trying to promote. So i'll stay

I would gladly stay even if cryptos are in the bearish movement for a long time because i believe that bitcoin will always goes up no matter how low it is and that's what you can also see in bitcoin's graph. Besides, it's the best time to buy cryptos at a cheaper cost.

Hi,

Just wondering if you guys will stay in crypto (aka hold or sell your BTC holdings) if the price does not recover.

Lets say we are still around 6k-7k by December 2018 => Will you wait it out or give up and say "OK, we had a nice ride but we are not going up again"?

What about if in 2019 price is still hovering around 6k-7k and there is no sign of recovery to 10k+ (or even a new ATH)

Investments are all about timing and luck. When you investment, you must understand that the money that you are willing to risk is the money that you are also willing to lose in the event that the market falls. That is why, it must be thoroughly planned-out and a contingency plan must be made in order to avoid risks of losing everything. People who have investments know that they must diversify their resources in order to mitigate the damage of losing everything in one go.
For your question, I would be faithful to bitcoin and still choose to invest despite the prices increasing/decreasing in a small margin for various reasons:

  • Recent news have mentioned that universities are starting to accept bitcoin as a business degree in their curriculum;
  • Bitcoin reigns as the number one cryptocurrency in terms of market supply and price;
  • Though there may be strict laws/regulations, it still remains to be tax-free in some countries; and
  • Japan would likely develop further enhancements and breakthroughs in the blockchain for the success of bitcoin.

With this being said, I believe that bitcoin prices would skyrocket or at least increase in the near future, perfect for short-term gains as compared to other investment mechanisms.
This is a very helpful information. On the very first place, joining Bitcoin can be very exciting yet challenging. You have to know its significance and be ready to embrace not only its strengths but also its flaws. You have to be emotionally stable and let hope be the fuel that would help you keep stay strong and going no matter what happen. Always remember that it's not the first time it ever happens, and if it crashes now, surely it will recover.

Yes that is right, there is no reason to say that bitcoin price will not recover, i am sure about the bitcoin that it will recover very soon, because still investors are interested in bitcoin trading, and the bitcoin users are also increasing from time to time which is also giving good support to bitcoin, i think that  bitcoin price is very soon going to start increasing and this time may be it will cross 25000$ very easily.

For me it's ok because that price is big money if you convert to our local currency so it's ok if bitcoin dont go up in 10k. I will stay here in crypto because I earn more than to my current job. But who knows what will happen in the future the important is there's a bitcoin that we can use and the price is stable as of now.

You have to realise here the scenarios you outline are actually pretty dam bullish.     7000 is not a low figure, consider a chart over five years instead of just months and that price is very high.

Also consider a steady price brings with it alot of positives such of easier contract settlement and pricing in general can rest more easily on a price which does not change substantially.   So to answer your question, many people would stay and I think BTC would grow alot even with a seemingly lower price.  Its about utility not price gain, this matters most.
First, you need to explain yourself one simple thing, this first phase will very well affect the recovery of the market. We all need to invest our money together in Bitcoin. Thus, we automatically raise the demand for Bitcoin in the market and this will positively influence the stabilization of the market.

Live cams shows pimped with cryptocurrency
I will stay with bitcoin at any price. What's more, I'm sure people will use bitcoin as long as miners support transactions. Perhaps those people who use strategy a long holding coins will need to reconsider this way to. But the opportunity to have an income does not depend on the value of the asset. We don't make dollars, we make coins.

Bitcoin failing to recover is not so much of a concrete reason to leave the world of crypto, besides this failed recovery process is temporary.

For your information crypto is not only based on a payment system it can also be used to store our personal info on the blockchain that can be secure as compared to the usual data storage methods like a hard drive and crypto is now diversified into several other sectors were we can make good use of it.

First, there is no market that does not recover unless it is dead, but the timing is one thing that may not play out as some may want it. The truth here is that even market has its own time and those who waited for long since inception are enjoying now because they only looked forward to the future instead of the present moment.

Even if we just remain stable, the main usage of bitcoin for what it is will remain and isn't that all that mattered in the first place before we started getting greedy?
That is right, and we all know that bitcoin is not a shitcoin it already proves enough, although the price is dropping we are still not losing our hope for us to remove our fate here, as we know it will gonna recover also soon, we just have to keep holding and wait for the perfect time.

As far as i know Rome wasn't built in a day!
Lets have some patience and wait for this great crypto to recover with organic growth, cant rely on whales pumping the price for their own agendas, time has changed btc has to shown the world its becoming less volatile now.
That is just the best adage for situations like this. Left for some, they would actually want bitcoin to hit a huge amount within a very short period of time without having to wait much. Well, for anyone who even wants to invest in anything, the first thing they should always consider is both the dark and good moment.

The fact that everything looks dark now does not mean there is light at the end of the tunnel, and the fact that we are not making any moves in terms of bullish activities now does not mean we would not, there is a lot going on and all that is required is patience, and whichever way, it is the future that counts and even if we remain stable, that still changes nothing at least for me.

That's good enough,staying in $6k-$7k in 1 year,it's like 2016 all over again.Long term holder can endure 3 years of holding investment,so yeah of course i will stay.You know right,invest money that you can afford to lose,so no lose for me.But i hope we can reach new ATH again this year.
