If it's an official post and the project has confirmed it's true, I will definitely believe it. A high rank will be more trusted than a low-rank account like a newbie. Of course now must really check all ranks because now many high-rank accounts are traded and can be used by fraudsters

Until now I have to say that the rank of  bitcointalk members are announcing a project doesn't mean much to its success, you can still waste your time on a useless project althought it's announced by a legendary member( RIPAEX is an example).
But the scam rate of a project will decrease if it is announced by a legendary member.

What if Multiple Legendary members got behind a project, would that interest any of you ?

Old thread but since it is still being discussed,,, let me share my one very bad experience. I will not say names but let us say that I got cheated along with many others for joining a projects announced AND managed by a very Legendary member. Lesson is never trust anyone.

I will participate in such projects because I believe that the creator of the thread will not be happy to have a red trust, if the project scam, it will deter his image, and if such thing happens again he will not be taken serious in the forum
Then why now you only join the bounty which is managed by an account that has the rank "Jr. Member" Huh of course it will be risky because they do not think about its image !!! aren't there a lot of bounties that are managed by the ranks of "legendary"

You do realize most of these guys are just spewing nonsense spam right? Just report them so their efforts are wasted:)

Did I miss something in the thread? what's the project?

thanks
You probably miss what the topic of this discussion is. No specific project is referred to here. Just read more to find out and you will understand what is being talked about here.

Yes coz i am sure that he/she has done their own research to check if the project they are introducing is legit.

They wouldn't let their name at stake for sure!
That's right, no legendary member will ruin their reputation just by introducing a new project. They will definitely study first before accepting the offer.

Will you trust a project that the one that announced it in the announcement thread is a legendary member even though the legendary has announced that he is not part of the team and was just part of the service he offered.

Let me know your thoughts here.
Of course Yes,because Legendary Member is higher than a copper or Jr member in rank and Legendary Member has  a lot of experience in crypto and managing a different project rather than with a lower rank on their badge. But despite of your trust in a Legendary Member ,you also need to check the project and do some research before joining that project.

Maybe I will look through it, but to be able to trust new projects, I need to conduct more careful research. Go to the website and find out everything about the project, which is the best way to determine the quality of the project.

It's what we do, research the project and team members. But having a trusted member as manager of their bounty is playing an important role for me. Trusted members have more knowledge and experience than most of us, and if they think that project is good it's a good sign for me that we can believe that we will be paid after the end of bounty and that tokens we get will worth something.

Yes. But not as always. We must not be reliant on the opinion or promotion of a single member just because he is a legendary rank member. Even though he have attained that rank due to his intellectual capacity and merits because of the quality he gave in this forum, he is still in no control on whatever outcome that the project he have promoted will be in the future. So to avoid finger pointing and blaming because you just followed his track on the project he announces, better do your own research on the project and let yourself decide if you are in or out on participating on that project because in the end, it will be your own fate and benefit and not on him. Be wise enough to think on your own and do not always be reliant to avoid blaming others of the faulty you have done on choosing and deciding on which project you will participate.

Not always. First you should the track record of the account. Considering the previous ranking system can be classified as easy to reach the legendary rank, it is different from now that using the merit system. Also some people sell legendary accounts to other people.

That is true, but is there a way to confirm that the Legendary is still the original person (maybe a few other "old timers"  know the person). There posting record, style, etc.

What about this (and I don't want to hijack this thread), what if a bunch of proven legendary users started a project? Or what if a very large number of reputable forum users (with status) started a project and we all got behind it ?

Of course there would have to be rules/guidelines and safeguards.

What do you think about a Legendary "Marvel Team Up"?

Status, Ranks and popularity has nothing to do with the potential of a project or it's survival too, long ago advisors have impact on new projects but not today, we need to stop choosing crypto projects because of ranks, legendary members are just like everybody, they aren't crypto Messiah, they can make mistakes

When I was still actively participating in bounty campaigns, I also joined many who were managed by a high-rank member just like a legendary. Based on my experience, the real success of a project does not depend on them but on the real team that developed it. Well, let's just say that a campaign was successfully completed within the allotted time. But will success continue in the days to come? There we will know if a project really has value when it becomes in demand and it is recognized in crypto space.

Well, TBH forum ranking of the member who is announcing won't play an important role in my decision making. I won't be investing in the project doing thorough research about the project first.

I invested in many projects introduced by legendary and some of them even turn out to be a scam so it is always better to DYOR.

It doesn't matter, no matter what, I won't trust their rankings. Just go to that project and do some research, which is the best way to determine if it's good or bad. Never judge a book by its cover
Same as me! Ranking can't tell anything. I would say I will trust that project if I do my research and it appears that it's potential and safe. Otherwise, I would say no! I don't trust anything or anyone else but myself. I usually prefer doing my research on my own than listening to others' words and advice. That's how you can survive in this cryptocurrency market!

Normally is this forum legendary members are respected ones. Most of the people know that those legendary accounts with high trust are in this forum for a long time. So when a legendary member run a project it is a bit trusted than member or newbie rank. But a bitcointalk rank never assure the intention of the project. Afterall we all work for money. If the project pay a good amount to a legendary rank and asked for a conduct a campaign he will do his best. Now it's upto the project it will go scam or not.

We have so many Legendary account that has been Bought by now, those account are old time created and ranked up and since now that there are a High in demand of High ranks because of the Implemented merit system,Scammers are finding their way to look like legitimate so Buying a legendary to promote their project is indeed.

But nowadays the trend has changed because there are many newly created accouns that running a campaigns,Some comes legit and always other comes scams.

maybe it is not about the rank of account but instead for the activity of each managers we can find some reason to trust them.
