why would someone buy altcoins if he is not a trader nor a cryptocurrency expert? Wise guy has to analyse the market and knows when he should buy bitcoin, or when he should buy a specific altcoin. Of course every man can not do this properly but a wise does not cry when he loses money because of his own incorrect analysis.

I bought some Bitcoin Cash as it is supported by miners. But the EDA is killing it now.

So many bears in here. That feels like alt bottom is near to me. I have bought a lot of altcoins today.

Yeah I also bought a lot of coins today, because nobody wants to touch altcoins again. This is a strong bottom signal in my opinion! Smiley
It does not mean no one wants to buy altcoins again today, but there are not much traders want to buying altcoins at now.
Because from June till today, the price of Bitcoin and the trend of the altcoin market has proves altcoins can not compete to Bitcoin when the market has strong volatility.

Would have been much better off just leaving everything in bitcoin. Altcoins suck.
If people would have the same mentality of yours then for sure alts wouldnt exist at all and we are just focusing on bitcoin but well in reality there would really be alts and not all the time they do dump and its better to have lots of options than on bitcoin alone. The thing we can benefit on altcoin too is that we can able to make money rather than on bitcoin itself and im sure you are saying such thing because you did already dump all your alts and go with bitcoin.

Its ok, most people feel your pain. Just look at the USD value of your portfolio and be happy. Its all going to be fine. Bitcoin will not only go up in a straight candle

Bitcoin moon is a one man show.  And a boring one at that. Nothing else happens when that show is on. Of course there are cheap coins to buy but after that all you can do is sit and wait.
Alts are just waiting for new heights of btc then rally its own way up so its just another chance for most of us to choose those good project that showing some downfall better to buy them up and wait for the rebound for sure bitcoin will have some rest and some corrections.

I hope all copy-paste coins without any innovation at all like litecoin will disappear soon.

You are clueless about LTC aren't you?

Are you aware that most changes happening to BTC recently are trying to copy LTC improvements???  Tongue Wink

Litecoin was a copy of Bitcoin foundationally, but only because it aimed to improve on the Bitcoin architecture. But it's not exactly accurate to say that Bitcoin has copied Litecoin improvements. Most of the new improvements such as SegWit and Lightning Network still come up from discussions that are sourced from Bitcoin developers. But Litecoin does manage to test it first, and successfully. They have easier consensus so that is one of the reasons.

But yes, Litecoin, even if just a testing ground for improvements that are meant for Bitcoin, has great value in that sense.

Means you didn't do enough research and gambled instead of investing. My portfolio has outperformed Bitcoin by an order of magnitude and I didn't even rebalance during dips and peaks.
You obviously didn't read anything I wrote.

If I had only invested in Bitcoin when I started investing in Crypto I'd have USD $42,300 more than I have right now.  I'm not upset at all, though.  I'm still up 335% since I began in crypto.  I came to the world of Crypto after cashing out of the stock market.  I was seeing a steady 12% yearly gain, but that was not enough for me.

Once BTC settles, alts will jump as has been said.  All will be well!  Relax.  Enjoy the ride.

Do not wish you never bought altcoins, you have to regret you did not sell at the right time, this scenario is well known for every crypto trader who has been in this field since 2016 or earlier, bitcoin is very volatile and all other altcoins are influenced.

Its btc season now due to the massive appreciation in it, and the fork speculations. Wait for a while, if the trends of the past are anything to go by, we should see an influx of the money being pumped into btc come back into alts. The trend is that if btc is weak, alts are used as a safety, but the reverse trend will be followed when btc is weak. The price correction of btc may come soon, so just HODL that alt for a bit more.

oh man, it can't be that bad

just wait a few weeks, BTC will dip back down, capital will flow from BTC back into alt coins...

little time heals all
Well actually the alt market has been dropping vs bitcoin for 4-5 months look at the top 20 coins and zoom out
Well you bought at a bad time, we have all made that mistake once but do not try to correct one mistake with another buying bitcoin with your alts, that is going to be a bad idea, you are going to lose money and then there is no guarantee that bitcoin goes higher, I know it can be hard watching another coin pumping but you have no other choice but to hold even for years if necessary until you recover your losses.
just waiting bitcoin low price and altcoin will be up again to take profit. be more patient i think its effect from will be hardfork
When the bitcoin price jump up high the altcoin usually downtrend. Yes just hold and wait the altcoin you choose will recover. Eventually the price will recover from its dump.

Alts are even more subject to whale whims than bitcoin.

Wait around long enough and the good stuff will rise again.

In the meantime the shitcoins, and there are tons of them, will get what's coming to them.

I feel you bro, but I was not that worried much because after the fork hopefully these altcoins will try to regain back its prices and we could all profit from them. Although I bought my altcoins at a very low price, I just left them where they are and concentrated on investing bitcoin as of the moment now that its sky rocketing.
