It was only the wind.
Will you compile new version for windows and Linux static?
Thanks!

I reverted the commit - it messed some stuff up. But why would you want a linux static binary?

Ok, I gave it a go on my ol' Core2Duo E8600... And something funny happens.

If I set -t 2 it gets stuck at showing difficulty. Nothing mines.
Then, the higher I set -t, the higher the miner reports hashrate. I even tried -t 100, it reported a hashrate of 2500 H/s Grin
...but on Minergate's website, no matter what -t setting I put (above 2), reported hashrate is 7.40 H/s Sad

Something clearly isn't working as it should...
For ref, I get ~50 H/s using the minergate client.

Okay, first off - why on earth are people still using MinerGate? They're a pretty well known scam, and besides that, it doesn't work half the time! Try another pool, any other pool.

Here, point your miner to stratum+tcp://xmr.crypto-pool.fr:3333
You can check your stats at http://monero.crypto-pool.fr
Minergate's always worked for me and they also allow merged mining with MCN and FCN, which add about 20% revenue. Why do you think they're a scam?
Also, I'm arguing that your miner doesn't report the correct hashrate so I have no idea where I stand... maybe I should try -t 10000000000000 Grin

Hey guys,
For some reason can get "easy-miner" but not this to work.

Used this version:
Some Win binaries for those without AES-NI.

https://ottrbutt.com/cpuminer-multi/cpuminer-multi-wolf-06-12-2014.zip.sig

I don't have or know what AES-NI and can't figure out how to install it.

Any ideas?

I'm on 64-bit.

Command line just says 3 miner therads started, sets diff, and keeps saying stratum detecetd new block and resets diff.

No hash tho.

This is what happens to me as well, using the 7-9 binary on Windows 7 x64 and an AMD Llano processory. Also, no matter how many threads I set it to use, it maxes out all my cores.

which gcc version are you using?
you can try to remove -flto, -fuse-linker-plugin and -ftree-loop-if-convert-stores from makefile

edit --enable-lto must be used while building gcc>4.6. maybe your distro doesnt or has an extra gxx-lto package

gcc -std=gnu99 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.  -pthread -I./compat/jansson   -funroll-loops -fvariable-expansion-in-unroller -fmerge-all-constants -fbranch-target-load-optimize2 -fsched2-use-superblocks -falign-loops=16 -falign-functions=16 -falign-jumps=16  -maes  -march=native -MT minerd-cpu-miner.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/minerd-cpu-miner.Tpo -c -o minerd-cpu-miner.o `test -f 'cpu-miner.c' --enable-lto || echo './'`cpu-miner.c
bash: test: cpu-miner.c: binary operator expected
./cpu-miner.c: In function ‘miner_thread’:
./cpu-miner.c:1065: error: ‘MADV_HUGEPAGE’ undeclared (first use in this function)
./cpu-miner.c:1065: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
./cpu-miner.c:1065: error: for each function it appears in.)

gcc version 4.4.7 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-4) (GCC)

GCC 4.4.7 is ancient. Use 4.8.0 or better. That's a known issue on FreeBSD, dunno why it's showing up on Red Hat...

Bump for update. Also, I should be making Windows x64 binaries shortly, provided I don't get distracted.

This is exciting news.  I'll be waiting Smiley

Oh, yeah, done. See OP.

Okay, done. Have a Windows x64 binary for non-AES-NI. Does it submit shares? Yes. Does it work on a non-AES-NI system? Beats me. Huh Huh Huh Huh

Where does a first time miner find instructions?  I have looked around in various places to no avail.

Command line just says 3 miner therads started, sets diff, and keeps saying stratum detecetd new block and resets diff.

No hash tho.

Same thing happens for me on a machine with Xeon E5520's. Just lines of 'stratum detected new block'. No hash reported, no shares found. Both Lucas' and yam work fine on the same machines.

It's broken atm, but I think I have a fix. Hold on.

EDIT: All fixed.
miner doesn`t work

Drooling Masses® here.

I have read the entire thread and need some help please.  I have a Pentium G3220 64 bit Non AES_NI processor using windows 8.1 and downloaded the appropriate binary.  Post 259 dated 6/16 stated that it was not working and nothing mentioned after that.  I assume it is working now?  Even though I will get a slow hr I would like to participate.

I need to know what to do from here.  What folder do I extract it to?  What do I do after that?  There are good instructions on some of the pools what to do with one's miner and I need to know how to get the miner operational.

Thank you for your consideration.

You can't install AES-NI.  Your CPU either has the instructions and transistors, etc inside the actual silicon die, or it doesn't.

It was only the wind.
I have a question, I noticed that even without an internet connection, the miner still uses 100% of my CPU on my Win7 64 box. What is it doing?

The worker threads don't stop just because it's not getting new work, and the workio thread can't get new work, so it doesn't notify the worker threads. So they happily generate new work from the stratum data they have and hash on, submitting good nonces to the workio thread, which is busy failing to connect to the pool.

Ahh makes sense. I just know on my laptop, regular versions of minerd quit using cpu when there is no work available, so I would just leave the miner running if I had internet or not and not have to start and stop it. Not a big deal, but is there anyway to change this behavior?

The old minerd was likely using longpoll, meaning it would run out of work much faster. With Stratum, the miner can generate its own work, so probably not, unless you stop the miner threads on disconnection, and that would be bad because a lot of people have spotty internet connections, and resubmit found shares when they connect again.

Yeah I've noticed with stratum before (not just this miner but others too) that if the connection lags out for a minute for whatever reason, it keeps working, then submits all it's hashes once the connection is re-established. PLEASE don't remove this ability!!!

Don't worry, I won't.

Hi, what do you guys think is faster, Xeon L5640 (6-core/12-thread Westmere, OCed to ~ 3-3.4 GHz) or AMD FX-8350 (8-core, OCed to ~4.4 GHz)? I'm looking at the google docs spreadsheet and can't make much sense out of it — everyone uses different miners and different versions, it's really hard to find the common denominator. What are the reasonable hashrates for these 2 cpus with the latest Wolf's CPUMiner?

I don't know.  I looked through one and it was the libtools that I needed.
Try to run 64 bit ubuntu. (your CPU is probably 32-bit, so that's why you run 32-bit OS)  But if you can run 64, do it.

I am not of much help, sorry.  I'm learning and re-learning *nix myself.

I'm having a problem in Ubuntu 14 (32bit)

when i make i got the following errors:

Code:
make[2]: *** [minerd-cryptonight_lobotomized.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/.../cpuminer-multi'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/.../cpuminer-multi'
make: *** [all] Error 2

i have installed all the lib etc: libcurl4-gnutls-dev automake build-essential libtool libssl-dev git

Maybe the fact your ubuntu is 32-bit and not 64 has something to do with it?

Try looking through the config.log file...

There are a lot of lines, what i need to look for?
