Do you already have pcb samples built? Or currently all in drawing phase?

Only just signed up to the newsletter, can someone just confirm that the website isn't live yet?

thanks

can confirm Wink

and burnin, very good work, keep on!

Hi Burnin,

I plan on stacking these boards side by side on a water block. The horizontal CAN-Bus would be a bit messy.
If possible could the board layout be modified so I could use a vertical 10 pin connector instead of the right angle one?
Looking at the renders there seems to be a few components in the way. If this is easy fix could you please consider it otherwise don't worry as I can work around it if need be.

Fantastic job so far  Grin

Looks great! When are your reference chips going to show up so you can start testing?

Its CAN-BUS all boards are wired in parallel on the differential bus lines.
The flat cable will run through all connectors of one stack.

I see. I would expect that Enterpoint also used a bus and just looped through the two connectors. I like their concept, since it enables to stack say 16 boards very easily: you need to build 15 equally length ribbon cables (8cm) and connect boards one after the other. I suppose it is more complicated to build a long cable with equidistant plugs to connect 16 Bitburner boards, but might be wrong.

You could use cables with 2 headers on the end instead of the board having 2 connectors. somilar to Y-molex cables for case fans.

The connector to the left (next to the fan-connector) looks to me like the up/down-connector the Cairnsmore1 boards were equipped with to chain stacked boards.

But the CM1 had two of them, one to connect to the lower board, one to the upper. How is this planned to work with Bitburner? Or am I mixing things up?

Delivery of sample chips seems to have started.

Awesome news!

And I promised mechanical drawings and new renders.
Here they are:

Cross-post in all threads of projects that are registered for Avalon sample chips from my order.

Delivery of sample chips seems to have started.

If you have chips ordered with me that you want to support this project with, do it now.

If you are the owner of this project, please provide me your shipping address.

Great to read this. Thanks for the info...

It looks like 95% of the chips in my groupbuy will go to burnin... at least the few targets i got already look like it. And all in all... miner with cooling solution and overclocking ability... its a good price then. At least for bitburner XX.

Edit: Wird es eigentlich einen Rabatt geben wenn man viele Miner bestellt? Hat burnin mal sowas erwähnt?

I dont remember the full thread so can someone say a word about if the miner can be overclocked? I mean the cooling solution will be included so it might be possible from the heat-side. But is the hardware chosen to make this possible or is something like that planned?

Hi sebastian,

just recently burnin posted that he will implement a solution for overclocking.

regards

I think burnin added this option in PCB design about a week ago

Hi burnin,

I would like to ask for your opinion on BFL offer we got today at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/65-nm-chips-bfl-accepted-100-escrow-by-john-k-group-buy-1-kernel32-223571 .

They are willing to sell us (as GroupBuy) advanced 65 nm chips (4 GH/s per piece) on 100% escrow (John K.), on-time-or-deal-is-off policy.

Is developing and producing mining boards capable of running those chips more challenging than for Avalon's 110 nm ones? Would you be interested? (Avalon boards are surely to stay the top priority.)

Since, I'm refining the deal right now, I can use any suggestions about documentation, sample chips etc. I should require for you/other developers as part of the deal.

I will definitely start work on a BFL board once I am done with the Avalon boards.
Given they provide the necessary documentation and there is hope that we will actually get them.
But it will be more challenging with the varying amount of engines per chip.
Cooling would have to be more complex too.

Seeing that they have an announcement coming and they haven't sent out samples yet I was just wondering.

Hi, what kind of (Avalon?) announcement are you talking about? Source link, please ;-)

Supposedly to be Avalon, whereas the lingo reminds me of BFL.

Does it not say in OP that adequate cooling solution will be provided ?

Could you please clarify: it will or will not.

Yes, but like the others already explained, some people would like to design their own.
For those i offer boards without cooling for 10eur less.

Yes Burnin it'll be helpful if you could clarify this. You've stated previously that the batch number our chips are in will matter, but you didn't explain the specifics and how it relates to order placement on your website. So, can you explain us how will it work?

Again thanks, I'm eagerly awaiting new renders of Bitburner XX to print them and hang them in my walls  Cheesy

I'm part of SebestainJu's Batch #2 order, does it really matter when I place my order on your website (once it's up), as long as I place it prior to you receiving the Batch #2 chips -- I imagine you would complete the entire batch before jumping to other customers.  Is there an order of batches that have priority with you?

Clarification coming up:
The batch is relevant, because that's the order in which I will receive the chips.
Even if you were to be the very first person to order on my website, i could only assemble and send you your boards once I received the batch your chip are in.
And that's why the batch is relevant.
Within one batch the succession of the order number is determining the position in the queue.

So just a what if question for you. What would the effect of avalon announcing an upgraded substituted chip do to the board development? Is it possible they were able to design a faster chip that could use the same design parameters and architecture? Seeing that they have an announcement coming and they haven't sent out samples yet I was just wondering.

If they did, the design would likely have to be altered but that shouldn't take too long

I have a question , theinterconnection beetween different boards is included ?basically I just need a PSU and a usb cable?

They are not included but can be ordered on the website.
But, you can also make them yourself, any diy electronics store should have the components needed in stock.
Whats needed is 10 Pin Ribbon cable and 10 Pin ribbon cable clamp-on connectors.
