I see a lot of optimism about bitcoin, which is understandable seeing the price recently.
But I have to admit I'm a little worried about the long term future of btc.
The major problems if the currency still haven't been dealt with. I see 2 major ones:

-Block size. Which makes the delay and fees of transaction rise very fast. Smaller transactions are more and more difficult to make.
-The centralization of the market. China got low cost electricity, which make them by far the most bitcoin mining capable.
-And maybe others that I'm not aware of.

Another thing: The Hard forks that are oddly getting much more frequent than before. (BCH, BTG, Segwitx2 etc...) It almost looks like "attacks" in order to divide us. Now called "airdrops" by the community. Even though they're supposed to solve some of the problems.

All in all, this makes me really worried about btc future. I've been a strong holder since 2014, and I made quite a lot of money with bitcoins, but I begin to doubt now, even though the price is crushing ATM. Please help me keeping faith. Or should I switch to another currency ? Really thinking about ETH recently.

I stongly agree with you on this. Because I too have been worrying about these problems for the past months. This really are the major problems of bitcoins that should really be taken into consideration by everyone involved in the community. Because if these problems does not get taken care of, sooner or later, this will take its toll on the whole crypto world and soon on all of us.

But then again, if bitcoin does not survive these type of adversities, then I don't think it is deserving for all of our trust and admiration to it.

Eth is great. But im still siding with bitcoin. It is more of a loyalty now than profit.

Diversifying is never a bad idea, so if you're really that worried, put some money in ETH. Your worries are not unfounded, but I don't think Bitcoin will die anytime soon. History tells us it's ridiculously resilient, so I'd rather keep betting on it.

Nothing is immortal so I can't say that bitcoin will exist forever. Many developers working with cryptocurrencies and they might create one with the potential to take the place of Btc.  But as per current situation Btc is doing very well and nothing to worried about.

The future is really uncertain. Different things can happen, bitcoin can be very big in the future or maybe different coins will make it big, no one can trully say. But there is nothing to fear as of now bitcoin seems to gain more and more popular. There are many investors and businesses that is showing their support on bitcoin and i am sure that in the future there will be more since they will see what bitcoin can do. Just keep on holding and you will reap the results in the future. Bitcoin's price might reach an astounding 100k usd or maybe million who knows? Lets just hope.

I suggest that you stick with bitcoin, you will not lose, because in the future the bitcoin will prevail. use bitcoin to invest so that in the future you will achieve a lot of benefits.

Bitcoin is still the strongest and the most accepted cryptocurrency and will remain so and there is no reason to worry about. Of course there are problem and issues that shold be solved but this could be done with some efforts. I wouldn't switch to ETH but afterall this is your decision. Even if you do so I suggest to keep at least some amount in bitcoins, you will have better profit in the future than with ETH.

With your second point:

It seems like more people regardless of the amount of splits end up depending on Bitcoin anyway. We can tell this by the amount of people who quickly dumped their Bitcoin cash instantly to get more Bitcoin. Furthermore, the support of the splits aren't as widespread as the support of Bitcoin itself.

Switching to ETH will be the biggest mistake you can make, because it is based on fraudulent practices, like pre-mined coins and a centralized circle of founders, who received coins prior to the release of the coin. These Founders have the key to the gates and 100% control over the development.

Hard forks in Bitcoin are part of a open consensus model, so it is no threat to Bitcoin. It was developed like this to give users of this coin the power to determine it's future. < No central authority will make that decision >

Most of the free coins after these forks are sold and those people then buy more legacy bitcoins. So it inject new capital into Bitcoin again. < taking it away from the supporters of these failing forks and dumping it into Bitcoin original >

OP,you are wrong about China.
The bitcoin market isn`t centralized and the chinese miners don`t have the same influence like before one year. The forks aren`t going to kill bitcoin, they are all a big failure.
Ther`s nothing wrong to be worried about the bitcoin future, but the threats on your list aren`t that serious.
There are bigger threats like USA btc ban or a world ban.

I don't think it's necessary to worry too much. Mainly depends on the number of people to use. Look at this point. None of the others can compare with BTC. So I think the future of BTC must be good

Nothing to fear or worry about the future of bitcoin. All that's happening with bitcoin is positive and till date haven't shown any signs of destruction. If it is towards the end, now the entire technology advancement should have come to an end without new usage implementation.

If bitcoin does not survive I do not see any other currency taking bitcoin place, so if you want to get out of bitcoin I will suggest to get out of cryptocurrencies completely, and about the hard forks it is very obvious the forks are not being created to solve anything, it is just an attempt to make money with bitcoin’s name and at the same time to attack bitcoin and see if people fall and accept one of these awful coins as the new dominant coin.
