I've got a couple of mistakes. Let's start with these two.

#1; I was in the need of money and I sold a part of my BTC at what I thought was the right moment. Later it turned out that that was one of the worst moments to sell BTC..
#2; I invested a large part of my BTC in Scrypt ASIC mining devices. I'm still waiting on these devices and I think they will not show up anymore ("Fibonacci").

Mine was acting on emotions. Roll Eyes Let me tell you that emotions are the worst when it comes to investments. If you ever feel that you have to invest now in order to not lose a chance... then DONT invest. Let it be. There is no chance big enough to act on emotions. And for the most part these emotions are a bad advice anyway.

That is a very important lesson. It's also one of the hardest to take on board and implement. If you can put those types of feelings to bed then you're way ahead of most people.

Definitely. Its unbelieveably hard. The feeling might even manipulate you to think you did your due diligence. Its like an incredible force. Adrenaline. Maybe its similar to what gamblers feel.

Last time i fell for it i did my due diligence and then the price of the coin went up. I became emotional and hasty because i thought it will go up anyway and i need to get on it fast.

I think without the emotions i would have decided that i could wait until its cheaper again. And it went down.

The stupid thing is... i waited until it went up again and managed to sell for the buying price and even with a small profit, but that was because bitcoin was rising and the coin was pegged to bitcoin. Only thing... the coin didnt stop that time. It went up and up.

I doubt the selling was emotion based. It was more bad luck i think. But they buying into a high price was emotion based.

Really... when you guys feel such an urge to buy or invest because it looks SOOO great... then turn off your computer and go to sleep. Seriously. Cheesy

Biggest mistake: Spending x number of BTC on Butterfly Labs hardware and getting only a fraction back returned to me an entire year later when they failed to deliver. Not to mention the insane amount of wasted time trying to get the refund.

Second biggest mistake: Buying alt coins back in the 2014 frenzy

My biggest mistake with bitcoin was not coming into this profession earlier.
But I don't regret it as I was just 12 at that time.  Cool

Clueless!

April 12th 2013 got some ASIC equipment that week. Was told at least the 5gh Jally I would get by the end of that month. Soon after it was the
'in 2 weeks" (tm bfl) line.
Finally got a refund on all my stuff 1 year and 20 days later due to xfering it in desperation with a fee to the monarch units (or else on the 65mm
stuff I would have not seen most of it till the following year) Smiley

The xfer at the time did not work out for the orig Jally (I was not gonna xfer it to cloud mining on their promise) and I got that orig Jally on
Halloween Oct 31st 2013. Sold it on Ebay promptly for about 1/2 of what I paid for it. But honest to god....when BFL was still taking phone
calls and answering their emails on that April 12th 2013 1st order of mine, I WAS told (not maybe) but TOLD I would have it by the end of the month.

Perhaps it was an enthusiastic employee that mis-spoke ..but the 'stonewalling and such' happened soon after.

I still mark it with a sense of pride at being the 2nd person banned from BFL Chat for bringing up the possiblity (Aug 2013) THAT they had "no real'
product and it was all a big stall to use our pre-order $$$ to mine themselves and all the other stuff that eventually was found out to be true.

Anyway Rocky Raccoon was the first guy banned for the same reasons....then I guess a mess of folk were banned for asking why we were banned Smiley

Ah...my innocent 'newbie' youth ..a frigging miracle I got my $$$ back (less the 1/2 price lost on the Jally) ...so dumb luck and circumstances is
all I have to base this on. (and the FTC shutting them down etc)

Im takes long time for me to move on, because Im invested all my money at the time, waking up to start from zero again it difficult right?
Yeah, gambling is fine as long you didn't use all of your money. Maybe just spare some, small, amount, play for fun if your "gambler" comes back!
Yeah, but its so difficult bro, if you won gambling, altough small win,  You will be interested to bet with a larger amount, its true right ?

it's true. learning when to stop when you're on the top is really hard. you'll always want to earn more, which may lead you to lose all of your money.

it's far easier just to stop gambling for good IMO

Believe it or not the brains of people anticipating a win at the roulette table appear to react much like those taking euphoria like we consumed some drugs.
This is where, in terms of suicidal tendencies, gambling addiction leaves the pack.
“If you stop drinking, you can still go get a job,”
“But once you’ve got a gambling debt twice your annual income" it’s hard to come back from that

Buying arround 600 coins from a friend back in 2011.
Losing my intrest after a couple of months, and thereby losing my private keys...
I cried like a child when Bitcoin was all over the news at the end of 2013...

Next mistake, stepping back into Bicoin at a rate of $ 750 :/

Meanwhile I've learned a lot, and no way I am losing my coins ever again....

learning to stop ironically it's easy when you win and harder when you lose, because you want to win at least one time before stopping your gambling

the hit and run tactics is the best in this enviroment
