That's a very good question. Seeing as how Bitcoin works, the whole internet would have to go down. I guess if big time miners are affected, other can take advantage of that 51% attack thing, but I'm not too familiar with how that works.

and if the whole internet was down, then this will decrease the bitcoin value because bitcoin depends on the internet. without internet, we cannot use bitcoin and even we cannot make a transaction. but if the internet is not down and there is a global disaster then bitcoin will increase the value because, in that time, fiat will be crash too deep and people not believe with the government and will search a new currency that will help them to continue their life.

I think everything can affect the value of Bitcoin and the money market. Because if a global disaster occurs, people may lose connectivity and control their Bitcoins. Besides, its price may decrease because the number of users may be reduced, there is no internet or means to access. I think it will affect a lot

But the chance to happen still low since there is no massive threat that harm on internet globally.
So I think you can less worry but you can start worry if someday bitcoin is massively downtrend because of government change their mind to forbid bitcoin in the future.
global catastrophe will be the case when Bitcoin falls below $ 1,000. That's when many people will suffer who invested in Bitcoin their money. To date, this situation is not expected, but I think that in the future this should be expected.

Reading your comment, if there is a global catastrophe, then I doubt Bitcoin going down to $1,000 will be the biggest problems for those people. They would probably be more worried about shelter, where they can find food, etc. In such a scenario nobody will be working, no supermarkets, no electricity, nothing. No internet or phone.

I do not think that we need to promote such panic to the masses. The fact is that if the wolf is afraid, this does not mean that you need to be afraid to go to the forest. Thus, if you can earn money using crypto currency, you need to use it. Of course you need to be careful and try to reduce risks.

i think it really depends i mean if for example seacables are destroeyed and the internet destabilizes for that reason, for sure it will affect bitcoin negatively and moreover perhaps than we sure are only surviving and it could drop to zero, while food/gold/etc. should go up in vallue and all other items inflate as hell.

I think global disaster will decrease bitcoin because if that happen people will more concentrate  on post disaster recovery, maybe bitcoin will be forgotten for a moment and at the time people prefer to sell their bitcoin because they are need money to continue their lives..

Hi ! First message here.

If a global disaster would happen on earth ( And I somehow don't wish it ) Would the value increase or decrease ?

I'm not talking about solar flares or EMP. But more like big wars or great natural disaster.

What are your opinions on the subject ?  Cheesy
I think there is a considerable difference between a conventional currency and cryptocurrency where the cryptocurrency itself has little effect on what happens in the country, unlike most physical currencies

Yes it will affect the value of bitcoin.Users or investors must be cash out there money due to in need because of natural disasters and the internet connection must be affected it will be gone or maybe the slow connection that result for not working on bitcoin.Internet connection is the life of bitcoin without it how can we used it.It has a big problem if that will happen.

I think it would crash really hard. As these kind of disasters will take out internet to certain parts of the world, and in places where internet is still available, people will cash out. This is because people will need fiat to purchase everyday items in places where internet is not available.

A global disaster would either completely decimate Bitcoin value or it would make it skyrocket. It all depends on how the market reacts at that time and we won't know until it happens.

On one hand, I think lots of people would turn to Bitcoin to be able to transact without the need for the government which might not always be available if resources are unavailable, but also if the internet is out then Bitcoin is not really practical so it is very hard to say.
Global desasger as it can effect our whole life system therefore it must also have effect on bitcoin.

Definitely global disasters will affect the market value of Bitcoin because as we all know Bitcoin and crypto currency value fluctuations is determine by the demand and supply and at the same time technical issues, fundamental issues like global disasters you were talking about are all factors that influence the value of Bitcoin and altcoins.

The winner will decide if bitcoin will grow or die, may be not necessary a war to bring btc to 1mln.

Sure. Is this even a question?  Grin Global disasters are one of the most important factors affecting the economy even in the past. Of course, if a global disaster emerges, bitcoin will also be affected.

A global disaster will surely lead to price increase, if there is not much damage has happened to the electronic products that were available around the globe. Because with this surely can make a price pumping as everything seems to be in a collapse.

most likely the price will be lowered, because in priority there will be the basic necessities

Yes, the impact would be really big and could decrease the value of bitcoin because of the government, economy's movement, and the people are obliged to serve one's country living the industry paralyzed.
