Of course it would be affected. Just think that there are no mining, no transaction and so on and this things will reflect in the price of bitcoin.

It depends on type of disaster. For instance if you think about a disaster which finished internet connection, there will not be any coins like bitcoins or altcoins. Therefore there will be no value for bitcoin or others. But if disaster means a war or something else, value of bitcoin will change according to geography of war and governments that effected by disaster.

I think the opposite of most people here - a global disaster would increase Bitcoin value. Firstly, there would be countries where the local currency becomes worthless and the population turn to Bitcoin (like Venezuala now). Secondly, lots of people would go on the move - refugees - and the easiest way to move money from one country to another is Bitcoin (you certainly don't want to be carrying gold).
I think the same, and am not sure why others feel it would drop the price. In my opinion, the price will increase because Bitcoin will still exist on nodes around the world whereas many banks would be closed and fiat would become harder to use and lose its value for sure.

In case of a war yes surely bitcoin will increase as all the illegal war funding will take place in bitcoins but in case of natural disaster the affect of it would determine the result. i think everything is decrease and not just bitcoin because global disaster is attack all the aspect and i think in the end, only the strong will be survive. in that moment, we don't know bitcoin still could be use or not because global disaster can reach many country and i am not sure that crypto currency will stay there because crypto currency is depend with internet connection.
When there are disaster, people might used their btc for living that can cause decrease on btc value. It will be fine to convert it into our fiats if it will help us to survive our living. hero member

I think if global disaster would happen on earth the value of bitcoin will be decrease. It can cause slow transaction therefore people will not be interested about bitcoin. One factor why there is a increase the price of bitcoin that is because of people patronizing bitcoin. If a global disaster strikes, everything would decline not just cryptocurrency but everything else on the stock market as kf a global disaster manage to cripple networks and make other countries inaccessbile ghe more people would invest or panic sell and most of them would not be turning into bitcoin.

As you called it..^ Global that means it certainly is affecting a large amount of population that will no doubt decrease the value of bitcoins .
Disaster is something horrendous ^ and I don't think at that time people will find it easy to go and buy bitcoins or to trade them or to you know make money online.
Lets not hope for that..

A truly global disaster will truly damage the value of every currency and investment.
Investments don't keep people safe when their lives are at risk, people won't sit there and watch the value of their BTC, they'd rather sell it and make sure they're safe themselves.
Thankfully the chances of a truly global disaster are very unlikely.

A global disaster will decrease the value of bitcoin because a lot of people will panic because of the disaster globally and they will sell their bitcoin so they can prepare and get ready for that disaster and i think that the value of bitcoin will go down too because of the effect of disaster but at the end, everything will be fine and will go back to normal as well as the value of bitcoin.

From any action there is an equal reaction. Whether its a war or natural phenomena, people will demand for their daily needs like foods, water, clothes, medicines and more. That means that Bitcoin will surely decrease its value because the supply of electricity will be affected so no internet connection for a long while in the particular affected areas. They will use their bitcoins to satisfy them
but i do not think that it will have great impact on bitcoin, because bitcoin is a currency and people need to use it for in every condition, and we can see that bitcoin is now becoming as the main currency of the world therefore i think that people will use bitcoin in any condition and therefore i do not think that it will have any great impact on the use of bitcoin. I do not think so, however the devotee of bitcoin will keep use bitcoin atleast for trading to get profit. I think if big war or great natural disaster happen it will only effect on bitcoin in short term. Hard to say. My view is it would decrease the value of Bitcoin as people could not easily get their hands on or transact it. IT requires technology. A global disaster prevents the use of technology, therefore rendering Bitcoin essentially useless.

If we're dealing with some kind of power outage, there'd be less hash and a lower btc price.
But if we're not taking that into account, it's hard to say, what would happen to gold or silver etc?
My guess is everything would plummet when there's a ongoing global disaster.
It's hard for anything to thrive in times like that, people have other things to worry about than the price of their investments.

Such disaster like wars, earth quakes, huge Mountain slides etc do affect paper money and obviously, anything that will affect paper money will support the alternative to skyrocket. So I think it will increase the value of bitcoin.
Everything is supply and demand. In case of a major disaster extended demand has food and water. So the prices from these two goods without any doubt will rise. Regarding the bitcoin price will probably not be affected. Maybe if there is no demand then the price is likely to be decreased unless it is used to in order people to purchase the necessary food and water.
i think it will not only put effect on bitcoin but i think it will effect throughout our life. therefore i am hopeful that when everything will come to its normal position then bitcoin will also cover its position and hope bitcoin will again start facilitating people through different ways. therefore i do not think that natural disaster will not decrease the value of bitcoin.

Thats what Im talking about. It will be as simple as that, the name speaks for itself : " GLOBAL DISASTER ", that means that something very big and very disastrous is coming that would cause a tremendous damage globally. Its not just about the internet and the bitcoin anymore. It is about the lives of every one, its about how you are going to store your bitcoin, it is about how are you going to survive.
