Yahoo was the first (?) search engine at the time when Internet started.  It was the pioneer in its field.  In the late 90's its market cap reached to a high closed to $120B.   Three and a half years after Yahoo started, Google came out and gradually took away market share from Yahoo. After 22 years, Verizon bought it for $4.8B.  Would Bitcoin ending up like Yahoo in the future and got beat up by new competitions? What do you think?  Please provide your reason(s) to support your view.

Silver was $80/ounce in year 1980. That's like $5000 today. Now Silver is $18/ounce.  Angry

Bitcoin going back to $100.   Grin

Regards! It is a good comparison and at the same time leaves people in doubt ... It is true that new platforms will be strengthened with the passing of months, nowadays everyone's eyes are on ETH, a cryptocurrency with the same line of btc However, it is impossible for now to take into account the entire situation of the systems and decipher what could happen in the future of bitcoin. I think that ETH is already one of the first places in the competition.

I don't see why people here think that your analogy is wrong when in fact it is perfect how you describe that what happened to yahoo might strongly be the same as bitcoin. While being the first mover in the industry, people will buy from you but when competitors keeps on sprouting everywhere, the market will be distributed. It is highly plausible for btc to decline in value because of the competitors that keeps on adding value over their alternative coins

This could be a question with an answer base from ypur own poin of views and even predictions. For me, Yahoo and Bitcoin isn't the same. Both of them run through different functions and sometimes depend on the era for such things. As the world innovates, same goes by with the needs of the certain people. And that what us needed for you to nearly maintan it.

Speculating and predicting bitcoin's outcome is relatively hard to begin with. When you
start to compare btc with yahoo, you eventually begin to trace and relate similar patterns
that might forcibly convince you to that conceivable outcome. Truth is, both scenarios could
happen, it could possibly end up like yahoo which I'm hoping it doesn't or bitcoin could
continue to surpass expectations. Bitcoin has come a long way and I believe it will endure
and sustain in the future.

Yahoo was a good platform for social media media indeed. However Yahoo didn't strive harder like google. Like with many other known companies like Kodak, etc. Bitcoin has it's own future depending on how it will sustain the market. It needs a lot of planning and good implementation to keep it growing and moving.

If this prediction is based on the recent increase in Ethereum price and decrease in bitcoin price then this is wrong. Ethereum and Bitcoin are two completely different cryptos yet they have their own set of benefits.BTCBTC

Yahoo is still used until today but most user and most used in business purposes.
Today most applications required Gmail account especially mobile phones to access them, it's all about contract, deal and agreements, also connection, so we need to advertise bitcoin more so we could have more investors, users and buyers. S

In this world, everything’s is identical a Ferris wheel sometimes up and sometimes down. It could also be happening to the bitcoin. Maybe someday it will happen. If the bitcoin price is continuing plummets. There is a chance that Ethereum will be on the top of the coin market cap. But the history of the bitcoin will never change it will remain the first virtual currency.  I will depend on the bitcoin how they upgrade they innovation and development of some features.

It is a definite possibility. We don't know how fast the technology is going to improve and surpass the current one. Twenty years from now is a long time. So who knows what's gonna happen?

Bitcoins are doing well in the crypto market and they definitely have great future. Nothing can make bitcoins disappear from the crypto world forever. Bitcoins are the rulers and hopefully they are going to maintain their position.Even don't try to move towards bitcoin cash also. If you have enough fund to invest please try to invest on blockchain based business. Altcoins won't give  anything to you.

may not be the same as yahoo, bitcoin forum will not die, let alone more advanced because a lot of devotees, i like bitcoin forums.
Just because we are facing a few problems doesn't mean that we are going to end up like Yahoo, there was always the possibility that an currency would come and take over and though i initially suspected it to be BCH, it doesn't seem they are going to take over just like that. Bitcoin will be the main currency for a long time before it succumbs.

Even Ethereum is struggling and Ripple is quasi scam. It will take at least 10 years for another currency to bear BitCoin.

The technology behind bitcoin is adoptable for several sectors whereas the Yahoo is a systematic search engine which gained popularity of a sudden and got down in value when the competence from Google went big. Still Yahoo is used, so bitcoin gets used forever even when something grow equal to it.I do not know how the future of bitcoin is, but I do not think it would be like a dead yahoo left by its customers, I still believe that bitcoin will get better in its future and have the best future.

You are trying to use the correct analogy basing on websites which is yahoo vs google. There is always a race in this world and google is more efficient because of its functions. Bitcoins and altcoins are just the same, if people will lose its interest to bitcoins then probably there will be one coin  who will be going to replace btc in the future.

It can not happen journey of btc is amazing so far. Bitcoin is altogether different from yahoo (search engine). On the contrary btc will bounce back very strongly. If bitcoin is bearish now for sometime it doesn't mean that we will compare btc to yahoo. Btc is the leading crypto currency none other coin is not near to surpass btc.

I believe that the only permanent in this world is change so I think bitcoin being the top cryptocurrency will eventually replaced by another altcoin.  This may take sometime but the change is inevitable.  We have seen several cryptocurrency that have more advance feature than Bitcoin in terms of speed and security.  It is just a matter of time.  The effect of being first mover to decentralized blockchain had not faded yet but if it does then we can see a change of rankings among cryptocurrency.
