Some of you have been asking me about the 2019 rounds.  I apologize for their delay.  I have everything needed to get them created and plan to submit the necessary information and metal to the mint in the coming month or so.  I also plan to have the silver and gold rounds created at the same time this year, so there won't be the usual wait between their availability.

If you're interested in pre-ordering, I'm open to the idea, but it isn't necessary.  I will offer a discount for doing so if you'd like and I plan to lower pricing on the gold rounds as opposed to previous years.

I also still have some stock of the 2018 rounds.  Contact me if you're interested in scooping them up or grab them from the NastyShop.

Thank you. Checking I see you have already sold 5 2018 bitcoin gold binary rounds @ $2000 or 1.62 times spot gold. 1.62 times spot platinum would be $1360. Seems reasonable that you could easily sell 5+ one ounce platinum bitcoin binary rounds as that price would be lower than the gold rounds. Depends on whether the numbers work for you. It would also complete the set: bitcoin binary rounds in silver, gold and platinum. As for your ultimate coin in platinum I would have to see it for myself to judge if the premium over spot is matched by collector value; I suspect it will knowing the quality of your coins. Sorry for derailing the thread.

There are a few reasons why a multiple to spot markup wouldn't really be possible with a platinum binary round vs gold binary round.  For example, the designs of the gold and silver are nearly identical.  I even had the binary spell out Golden to match the characters in Silver so that it would be a simple design edit.  Platinum would require a larger redesign.  I also have 1 of the dies on my binary rounds that can be reused, so the 2018 rounds only required 1 of the dies to be edited/crafted.  A platinum version would need 2 entirely new dies, with both requiring a redesign.  Then there is the cost of blanks, which can actually be higher than gold blanks due to their rarity (not sure if this is true for a 1oz blank, but it certainly is for the size I'm having made for my upcoming round).  Finally, the minimum minting costs would apply equally to platinum/gold and not be based on spot price.

I hope that explains why I wouldn't be able to offer a platinum round for $1,360 without taking significant risk and hoping the exchange rate went my way.  Maybe if I took pre-orders I could get the price down below the $1,600 I suspect I'd have to charge, but this would be more about pleasing customers than anything else, so there would have to be demand for it.

Appreciate the detailed explanation thanks. If you can offer a platinum round for around $1600 count me in.

BitcoinPenny is selling his pre-ordered 1/4 oz platinum coins for $568 based on today's bitcoin price. Each of those coins contains $210 worth of platinum so I did not order any ... the premium over spot platinum is too high for me. Don't see those coins holding good resale value TBH ... no offense to CJBianco intended, just my opinion. I can buy two 1/4 oz BU Platinum American Eagles for about $518 in bitcoin from APMEX. As long as your premium over spot platinum is reasonable I would be a buyer.

I respect that opinion.  While I've strived to keep the binary rounds as affordable as possible, my upcoming platinum rounds put no emphasis on affordability whatsoever and have nothing to do with the binary rounds (so a bit off topic).  I actually had to pay for tooling so that Sunshine Minting could produce the blanks (first mentioned on the forum here back in March) in the needed size which was not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.  It was my intent to make the greatest physical crypto coin ever produced.  Costs did not play a role, and price was not considered.

If there were 5+ interested buyers in a platinum binary round, I could look into how much it would cost to have new designs made and the coins minted.  Left to myself though, I doubt I will pursue it at this time.

Compare the mintage numbers of the APE to the BP you dolt.

The spot to value argument has been hashed out a number of times on this forum over the years.  Let's not rehash this here with personal insults.  BP is free to charge whatever he wants and his coins seem to have sold quite well so congrats to him.

OgNasty should be commended for selling high quality bitcoin precious metal rounds at a very fair markup. I hope you consider selling limited edition one ounce platinum bitcoin rounds. Silver-Gold-Platinum set would be awesome!

Thanks for the kind words. While I do plan to be the first person to release a platinum physical crypto coin, I currently have no plans for doing one in this series. If there were enough interest to warrant the expenses involved, it would be something I’d consider in the future.

Fixed it for you.  Wink

My platinum rounds have already been minted and will involve no pre-orders.  I announced them privately to interested parties a long time ago and have been teasing them in my Slack group for months now.  I'll post pictures soon, but honestly I hadn't planned to make the public forum announcement yet, as I still have a couple things ahead of it on my todo list.  Just wanted to clear that up for historical significance.  They will also be extremely limited and out of the price range of most, so there isn't much sense in actively promoting it.

Hey OG. I just noticed this thread changed to 2018! I must have got the end of the 2017 rounds.

Anyways, I'm definetly interested in grabbing some of these 2018s rounds.
- Are you only selling in complete sets?

Yes.  These coins have also been added to the NastyShop but I didn't have the frosted version listed since they are nearly sold out.

7 sets remaining.

Received my set in only 3days - thanks for the super fast shipping and smooth transaction.
I love the new additions and am a proud owner of the 2017 and 2018 rounds. Plus a huge fan of the gold plating!

Keep up the great work Og!  Cool
