Investors hold for the long term, Gamblers buy and sell as the price goes up and down.

They are holding XCR because they are gamblers, not traders. Situation is as follows:

1. Most traders would either withdraw all coins from Bter or sell them for coins they can withdraw (BTC).
2. Traders who like huge risk would hold and bet on panic sale which means putting up buy orders very low, at 1 - 50 Satoshi, for up to 100 millions XCR.
3. Gamblers just hold. If you do not have any more BTC to put up buy orders that means you are gambler, period.

The price has more to do with the state of affairs of BTER than with CRYPTI. Place your bets.

I thought BTC withdrawals are not possible from BTER at this moment (as are deposits).

Issue is BTER, not XCR. I expect a lot realize this already, but I don't expect any giant rise in price even after release, UNTIL the coin gets on another exchange. A lot of people simply won't feel comfortable moving btc there. And a lot of people simply never use BTER to begin with.

If so, its more evidence that the hack was an inside job. They had root access, not just a password hack of the NXT account.

Bter is changing everything.

This ^^. I don't see how a hacker could the passwords to access the NXT wallet even if he/she/they hacked the BTER servers.

I bet it was not a hack, but unauthorized access by an insider, or someone working with an insider. They had the root password for the server, which gave them access to everything.

Bter would be able to see this on the log files.

The theft of the NXT is all we are told about... if they had root access, they would have been able to copy the passwords to the other coin wallets, as well as the passwords to every user account.

It would be prudent for Bter to change anything and everything that the unauthorized access may have copied for future use.

This means that in case they complete it within a day (as originally planned), we could launch Crypti as early as on Monday 18/8.

We have looked at the wallet located at the address, and can confirm that it contains a significant amount of BTC, which could easily cover the amount that Bter should transfer us on the launch.
