Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
If the gov bans any use of it and goes after exchanges that allow trading pairs for it to cash out then yes it will die
Do you think that this will happen to all privacy coins?

No. The coins are open source. No gov't can "ban" them.  Roll Eyes

Well they could but it would be a real shitshow trying to enforce.
Isn't Japan trying to force exchanges to remove trading pairs? I think that has really been hurting those coins. Lol

And would probably backfire just by the free publicity if a large economy like Us tried it.Cheesy
They will just figure out how to monetize and 0wn it like they do the rest of the financials, even if they have to buy every last fucking coin. Smiley

This is a bug, which fortunately is fixed in this PR:

https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/pull/1452

A temporary work around is to either edit or delete the Monero related config file that is present in ~/.config. Note that the latter option will also delete any other persistent settings.

Great to see there is a pull request already. And deleting the config file did the trick.
Thanks dEBRUYNE, you are invaluable for Monero.

You're welcome Smiley

How do I now switch to Mainnet? From a usability point of view, I would at least expect a third radio button called 'Mainnet' (but preferably would like to get rid entirely of Testnet and Stagenet in the default setup).
Thanks.

I believe the setup of a new wallet contains a bug (Linux 64bit 12.2.0 GUI):

- The radio button implies you need to select an option: Testnet or Stagenet.

- Since I don't want Testnet, I assume Stagenet means the Mainnet (not true).

- Once Stagenet is selected, you can't deselect it anymore. You have to now chose between Testnet or Stagenet.

- Once Stagenet is selected, you can't switch to the Mainnet anymore from within the wallet.

- Even after deleting the generated wallet, still the radio button has Stagenet selected.

- Even after deleting the entire Monero folder, still the radio button has Stagenet selected.

Crime outside of it doesnt matter, biggest issue govs hav will be tax evasion  and xmr will give them  trouble. But i don't  think it will be good for xmr as they will come down hard in it

And in reality that is the only crime the US gov really cares about, unless its from the 1%.

Maybe in future dev will make some changes to make this coin fit for regulatory policy. But this coin has more better features as compare with any other coin available in the market and future is looking more bright.

Oh you mean like adding something that we could maybe call view keys?

I just downloaded the gui for mac from getmonero.org like I always do. 30 seconds after bitdefender goes crazy about ADWARE.MAC.GENERIC 10313 and other on all monero processes. Wtf is going on? Is it just me or what?
I must do a full clean reinstall now for security but why i even got that? Never happened before it's really scary.

Can you run sha256sum on the file that you've downloaded? It should be 298ff610d3c18afe1ae78691fa995d7f0e0ab39cd768de3ce6616e4678ee57b8. If it isn't, you've downloaded malware from a fake website.

It might just be that your antivirus detects the miner in the daemon (but it if this was the case, it should have been tagged as miner instead of generic adware).
No got it from official website, confirmed on reddit that bitdefender is acting crazy.

Nice, what does this mean?

Quote
which includes indirect Ledger support

You have to generate the Ledger Monero wallet with the CLI (only once though), but you can subsequently use it with the GUI.
