Some of the issues were in cryptonote.

The very early users knew all security stuff wasn't implemented yet, we were the alpha, beta users.

there is still more coming and the coin moves from tech strength to tech strength.

I urge Monero to rise up and overthrow the cryptocronies.

Or something...   Cheesy

Who died and made Snowden king of crypto?
So are you saying now that he is not knowledgeable when it comes to cryptography ?
I'm betting my money where my mouth is. Are you? Feel free to dump your moneros, I'll buy them all.

Snowden is free to collect his bounty if he pointed to a monero flaw.

He linked to old non-relevant info - so at the least he is uninformed and not updated.

I'm loving it, mining zcash with nvidia to buy cheap moneros, good times.

Seriously ?

https://www.coindesk.com/edward-snowden-zcash-is-most-interesting-bitcoin-alternative/

Asked for his thoughts on monero, a competing private currency, Snowden said it was "amateur crypto" and pointed to traceability issues within the tech.

Maybe you would better do the opposite.

Mistake... a big one.

You can never be a successful trader that way. Most traders feel it that way, but trading needs way a lot of patience. Without patience, you'll always end up with losses.

What's up with this coin... when you mine it it's minimum 2-5 xmr for exchange wallet. Windows wallet doesn't work - third day now... Daemon doesn't start... wallet crashes... this thing doesn't work... how the hell is everybody using this coin?

All of that not true (except maybe YOUR windows wallet not working)

Has there been any successful attempts to solve the bloating?
The anonymity function is strong but consumes a lot of resources.

What is the best gear to mine monero these days? I've understood that you don't need powerful hardware? And even mining with a processor is fine?

Throw whatever you got on it, it will add up.

With the latest Windows QT wallet, how do I put listen=0 in the daemon config?
My bandwidth is strictly limited so I need to limit everything non essential.
With bitcoin you put that line "listen=0" in bitcoin.conf where the blockchain data is stored.
This is what I am trying to do, but for Monero QT windows 64-bit wallet :
https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node#disable-listening

Monero isn't a Bitcoin derivative, but there is a similar option: --p2p-bind-port 127.0.0.1
This will restrict listening to incoming connections to the loopback interface (ie, only those coming from the local machine).

I think it's set as "rpc-bind-port=127.0.0.1" in the config file, but I'm not 100% sure about that one since I don't use one.

Damn, we can use conf files for the GUI wallet? I guess I should do more reading! Tongue Thanks! Cheesy

Hello,
I have to reinstall windows 10 on which I have the GUI wallet installed monero-gui-win-x64-v0.11.0.0. Which files should I save and where do they find to restore the wallet content to the new installed windows?
Is this the file XMR_wallet.keys?
Thanks
Yes, it is a *.keys file you need to access your wallet.

In which folder of windows 10.0 is this file located?
Thanks!

C:\Users\me\Documents\Monero\wallets is where mine end up on windows 10 64-bit

I did the rpc-bind-port=127.0.0.1 and p2p-bind-port 127.0.0.1 with one and two switches under daemon startup flags, and mondero daemon could not start.
Four tries with different flags.
I think this is the error it gives in log:
2017-09-29 05:48:35.956   10512   WARN    net.dns   src/common/dns_utils.cpp:487   WARNING: no two valid MoneroPulse DNS checkpoint records were received
Then it says cannot connect to 127.0.0.1 on the port number.
If I run the daemon without any flags, it synchs and runs fine.
I just want to cut down on my bandwidth since my ISP caps me.
