Flippin' burgers since 1163.
Was wondering if someone could help. I just downloaded the latest version. I'm trying to run (Windows 64bit) monerod.exe. It opens up then closes immediately. Sometimes it opens up but just hangs there. Any suggestions?

Run it from the command prompt, so you can actually see the error message:

- click start, type cmd, open program cmd.exe
- navigate to your Monero folder and run monerod.exe

Ever seen an error like this when running monerod?

Code:
ERROR   {2} {p1} 2017-02-23 10:29:33.958635 [abstract_tcp_server2.inl+515 ::do_send_chunk] send que size is more than ABSTRACT_SERVER_SEND_QUE_MAX_COUNT(1000), shutting down connection

Could you paste the outputs of the "diff" and "status" command? Also, is it still fetching new blocks?

That can be ignored, that peer will just be dropped, and replaced if it's an out peer.

Thanks :-)

To try, I successfuly replaced the 0.10.1 files by the 1.10.2 in the GUI directory, seems to work :-)

Lightwallet has been discontinued since Xmas or so, I recommend using the official GUI with a remote node.

Very sad, I liked your great work, thank you for all ! :-)

How must we configure official GUI to use a remote node, please ?
(this info should be clearly visible on the wallet, or at least on the wallet download page :-)

Many thanks :-)

Thanks Smiley always nice to hear someone found it useful.

You can find instructions for CLI or GUI on remote node here:

Hi

How must we update the official GUI wallet to use the 0.10.2, please ?

Is LightWallet working with this update ?

Thanks

According to https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/5vsmom/psa_monero_0102_is_out_and_is_a_strongly/  the GUI update will be out "in the next few days or so", so I'd just wait for that. If you want to use 0.10.2 in the meantime, you can use the CLI.

Wolfram Warptangent, Point Release 2

This is a necessary point release of Monero v0.10 "Wolfram Warptangent", and is a strongly, strongly recommended update as it includes massive efficiency improvements to the RingCT validation code and various other necessary bug fixes.

Some highlights of this release are:

- massive speed improvements to RingCT validation
- cache tx hashes for failed txs with bad semantics
- added an update notification / download / verification system (to be expanded to include opt-in auto-updating for unattended daemons)
- initial smart mining implementation (Linux only)
- improvements to IBD (initial block download) and sync speed
- switched to a portable serialiser so that wallet files can be used on any operating system
- added uptime to daemon status
- added support for separated mempool / peer datasets for multiple nodes on the same machine (with different p2p ports)
- added a change_password command to monero-wallet-cli
- addes support for restoring wallets from a certain date
- added mempool prioritisation of older txs
- added fixes to fluffy blocks (not enabled by default on mainnet yet)
- add HTTP digest authentication support to all RPC interfaces
- added a connection limit for incoming connections from the same IP
- switched to EasyLogging++ for logs
- added a gray peerlist house keeping system
- added support for multiple daemons using the same LMDB database
- added additional password prompting for monero-wallet-cli actions
- added additional output detail for ring output selection in monero-wallet-cli
- fixed issues with wallets dealing with large reorgs
- massive additions to libwallet_api for additional functions used by the GUI
- removed support for BerkeleyDB, as it is now deprecated
- added support for Android
- added support for DragonFlyBSD
- fixed armv8 build issues

Because the devs don't give a shit about BCT anymore.

Can you explain why this was added?

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.

Users have the option to prove an XMR tx happened using a view key.

No they don't.

The viewkey is only available to the sender. It's the receiver that wants the "proof".

It's also a third party (arbiter) who may want the proof.

YET ANOTHER TINY MONEO POOL  Shocked  HOPING TO GROW BIGGER !
PPS SYSTEM
IDEAL FOR SMALL MINERS AND POOL HOPPERS  Grin

attopool.com

CHECK IT.

where did you get the payout scheme info from the web site is similar to moneropool.com

My pool is a clone.  There are many out there in the web that look alike. The core I am using has PPS implemented from what I know. I am digging to understand more ...  Undecided
Not PPS, but RBPPS (round based pay per share), also known as "proportional" payout system

Thanks Smiley

I see that your pool looks like Snipa22's  xmrpool.net ...

that's because it's based on his code and frontend Smiley

Posted some comments re this r/Monero thread but it seems to have died:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/5uko8q/research_goal_new_difficulty_algorithm/

To prevent this, I'd suggest to comment on the Github issue too. Stuff on reddit gets buried pretty fast. In addition, the search function isn't optimal in my opinion.
