Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
when i want to install thei windows 64bit GUI wallet it crashes (that means it stops the current step with the result that no wallet is installed) always in different installation steps. Anyone has the same problem?

Are you overclocking? Sounds like you have an unstable system. BTW There is no install for the x64 release so maybe you downloaded a virus? Did you check the hash?

Please, be more specific. Windows wallet doesn't have installation. Just extract archive and run .exe.

Hey simple question hope somebody can answer quick?

I was running an earlier version of the pre-beta and had set it to use node.supportxmr.com just for testing without downloading the whole blockchain, but NOW with the real beta release I want to run the daemon and everything LOCAL... but remind me what to change it BACK to, to get that going??

Thanks in advance Smiley

P.S. {Edit} Whoops, never mind spoke too soon LOL I found it two minutes after posting the above... localhost:18081

FWIW, I have had to restart the GUI a few times to get Txes to show, incoming at least. Not a big deal, but can attest to the above, as I had a deposit go missing for a bit until after a few daemon and client restarts (not integrating atm, the external daemon seems to give more info for me, as i'm a computer geek by trade). Thanks! Smiley

I sent a few XMR from MyMonero to my GUI wallet, 2 hours later, still notting arrived ! Normal ? (Mixin : 10)

Is the transaction actually present on the blockchain? If so, try restarting the GUI.

Hi, thanks

I restarted, but nothing.

Yes, on blockchain

I tried to send 0.5 XMR mix 3 and 1 XMR mix 10, to same address, and these arrived almost instantly...

Is there a problem, my 10 XMR lost ?

Thank you for you help, best regards

If they were all sent to the same address, then there's no way your ten XMR are lost. You might need to restore the wallet from the keys file (and maybe remove the .bin files from your data directory). Of course, backup everything and make backups of your backups before you start messing around.

OK, after a backup, I deleted my wallet folder, and the .bin files in data folder.

Took some time to sync from zero, but now, the "lost" XMR show up in transation history and balance of th GUI wallet.

For information :
I installed the new GUI wallet, and after starting it, it began to download the blockchain. It was already possible to copy the receiving address at this time. During the download of the blockchain, I went on MyMonero and send me the XMR that never arrived or displayed in wallet. I tried 2 more times to send XMR from MyMonero, and they displayed in GUI wallet almost immediately, but the only difference was that I made these transfers once the blockchain of the GUI wallet was fully downloaded and ready. Hope it can help, if it's a bug...

GUI working nicely on OSX. Well done guys

Yeah, this is the shit indeed. I'm about ready to be done with bitcoin wallets, but I still need some to keep accumulating XMR. Grin

Congrats to all who have worked so hard and stuck with it for so long! 2017 looks quite promising right now!  Cheesy

OK let's try

What files do I need to backup and delete, please ?

Thanks

Just don't delete anything, but move your wallet file elsewhere, but keep your keys file in the same place, and then move the two .bin files out of the data directory. Then when you restart wallet, load your keys file and resynchronize wallet.

OK, the "--data-dir D:\bitmonero" at startup and in settings to change the data folder works for the GUI wallet.

Size of folder once fully synced in 3 hours : 8.49 GB.

Sorry, I did consider doing just that ^^^^, but didn't know if it was really worth it, as I did keep my old blockchain etc... I was just wondering if the new monero-wallet-cli.exe would work on it just the same if that makes sense.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
So I have a possibly dumb question.

I have all my XMR stored in a wallet from the prior version. I DON'T want to convert it to the GUI as it's too much XMR for my liking (sorry I trust it, but not that much, yet).

I have noticed that opening existing wallets using the GUI leaves new files called wallet.name.unportable... Can anyone explain what that's about, and if I should just use the monero-wallet-cli.exe instead for larger amount of funds using the beta monerod.exe included with the GUI, or should I just keep waiting longer for a newer release?

Thanks! Smiley

Also, what's the default location for wallets created in the GUI, I can't seem to figure it out? Tongue

Why don't you just keep 2 instances and send to the gui address you created what you want there from the old instance?
