Price is falling as falling star, no resistance. Will it recover soon? What may be price spec in next week?
It will recover, too many people are rushing to buy Iconomy ICO which looks to be way oversubscribed, once the hype has died down the price will top back up, time to get some low buy orders in.

You might want to check out the Monero mining thread on this forum, as many questions can be answered over there as well, especially more technical questions.

Hey everyone, I'm considering to start mining but have a question. From what I gathered so far to be awarded monero for solo mining it takes approx. 22 days, is that correct? Also does your computer need to be running continuously to be awarded that amount? I know pools are faster but haven't researched that yet. Is there a difference in using cpu or gpu as far as speed and efficiency? This seems very technical but I see the need for this since it would defeat the purpose. I hate learning curves, lol. Not to concerned about fees right now until I know what I'm doing. Any advice would be appreciated.

"It takes approx 22 days" that depends on your hardware. If you have a lot of hashing power, you can possibly find a block in a quicker amount of time. The thing with block finding is that its really just luck. Each time you try to solve a block you are rolling the dice. If you have more hashpower, all that means is you can roll the dice faster, so you can have more rolls per second.

"Does your CPU need to be running" - as can be extrapolated from the above, it doesn't need to always be running, but the more it is running the more chances you have of winning.

"CPU vs GPU" CPUs are generally more power efficient, but GPUs are scale efficient. This means that if you wanted to build a mining farm, you could easily have lots of GPUs, whereas its more expensive to build a CPU farm.

The best thing to do, in terms of simplicity, is to download the monero core software and run mining on your node. This is called "solo mining" and "running a full node." It might take a long time to find a block, but its by far the easiest and cheapest. if you want to get serious about mining, and view it as a source of "profit", then there are many different ways to go about it.

Long story short, start now and start simple. EVentually, Monero may have the same path as Bitcoin - a lot of people will start mining it. When more people mine it, it becomes more difficult to find blocks and get awarded.
Thank you very much that helped and will, for now, go the simple way to get my feet wet.

Rofl 0.010000000090 fee. It's like some time a long time ago someone sent an ultra specific amount of funds and this input has just been caring around that 9 for who knows how long because it would cost a million times its own worth just to split it. Atleast thats my theory.

*edit* no looking at the transaction more closely it appears that my client just threw the extra 0.00000000009 in there for giggles. I dont understand. Does anyone know why it randomly added an extra 0.00000000009 input as a transaction fee?

There are poorly-designed blockchains with fees that are so low (such as one satoshi), the economics of it don't make any logical sense at all. That does not make them better than XMR, it makes them worse.

Well said. These technologies are great but they don't scale very well. Its not even a block size thing. The block size limit debate is a red herring. Its just a question of how many transactions can a sufficiently decentralized group of people audit. The answer is not that many. Thus its a good thing that sometimes people abstain from making marginal transactions.

I dont like the monero fees they are just to high.....

0.1 fees it should be more like 0.00085  since monero
is not at the price where it was now its 10 dollars per piece meaning that the fees are expensive...
and it needs to change

0.1 xmr fee is too heavy for ordinary people. 0.0001-0.001 is decent, current fee will resist xmr has mass adoption.

The current min fee is 0.01 and I usually pay ~0.03.  The min fee is being reduced to 0.002 in about 2 weeks which will make that 0.03 transaction 0.006 or about 6 cents which is what I pay for a btc transaction.  The size of a transaction is a bit larger than btc due to the private nature of the transactions so I don't see why you think you should pay less than btc.  A couple of posts before yours Anon136 tried to explain why some transactions incur larger fees than usual.

If you look at moneroblocks stats the typical transaction is about 1 KB or possible a little less meaning a typical transaction fee is 0.01 or 0.02 (10-20 USD cents). Obviously larger transactions occur (with both higher fees and higher load on the network) and require larger fees, and as you say it is being reduced.
