I have decided to keep all my crypto savings in monero. That's the future. It's closest to cash by a design. I love monero. Keep it up guys

Brave move, but I can see why you are doing it. I am also using it frequently and it is very powerful.
I'll double up my money till the end of the year. Then I'll quote this message Smiley xmr will do it. As it's getting more popular day by day

How are you able to tell it's getting more popular day by day?

tell please, why XMR wallet during synchronization, after a while, it ceases to be displayed in Windows, I do not see how many more blocks are left, I think this is not a normal situation

the white rectangle is the wallet window

This may be due to the wallet locking. Can you check the wallet lock time on the Settings page?

Now that, Ledger and Trezor support Monero and there is Kostelo in works and I am sure some other hardware wallets will integrate in the near future, I am not worried of the "Monero hardware wallets future".  Each of them will try to make it as user friendly and as harmless for them and for Monero. If they will slack, users will pick their competitors.

Is there a way for Ledger to integrate XMR into Ledger Live without having to store the viewkeys off all their users?

Because if they store them, then US gov agencies will ask them, and those agencies will be able to map a good chunk of XMR distribution.

Behind that lies this important question: is their a way for XMR to become more user friendly without sacrifing privacy? Or will the only way to ensure privacy be forever to run a full node oneself?

They could technically use the GUI's libwallet as library (Monerujo does this for instance), which would result in the wallet being able to connect to a remote node (and thus not having to send the private view key to a server to delegate scanning).

I'd argue using a remote node is fairly user friendly.

Lastly, note the subtle difference between a light server and a remote node. The former requires the private view key, whereas the latter does not.
Are they (Ledger) aware of that?
Are there discussions with their technical team and Monero core devs?

Because I have talked with the Ledger's guy responsible for coin integration and he told me that they don't want to integrate XMR into Ledger Live because they don't want to store users viewkey. So maybe they don't know how to do it properly.

I am not sure. I guess I could contact cslashm and have a chat about it.

There have been discussions in the past as far as I know.

only hodl what you understand and love!
When somebody hacked me and got 7000 xmr, Hueristic was about the only guy who took me seriously.  Most of the others piled on with predictable abuse.
Also, he's a very knowledgable guy, and I value that.
Overall, Hueristic's valuable contributions outweigh his little irritable outbursts.   As an older fellow with physical problems, I also let my annoyance get the better of me.
Hueristic, you should know we're on your side.  Next time something gets your goat, just think positive -- we're all your friends here.

Thanks Br0. Smiley

Hack Reveals Russian Plan to Deanonymize Tor Traffic

https://www.pcmag.com/news/369660/hack-reveals-russian-plan-to-deanonymize-tor-traffic

Regarding TOR:
I remeber a conversation on the TOR mailing list of a hacker, who claimed that he needs three nodes and some magic to deanonyminize traffic in TOR, and was ready to reveal that to the devs. The guy was then collected by FLEA and stated on the mailing list, that he was obliged to sign an NDA and period, that was it, never heard of him again. As i recall that was in 2014 or 2015, i have to look in my archives, maybe i find that one again...

Regarding the article: I am using a swiss VPN service with some traffic on it, so i do not have the downsides of TOR when travelling on the i-net, as i do not have any interest on the dark web for whatever purposes. I think I2P is the better solution than TOR, but everybody has to decide that on their own

Regarding Monerujo:
I am thrilled about our little baby and i would appreciate it, if the devs would tease us with some news on KOVRI  Grin Cheesy

In the OP it’s been said they’re moving away from this forum. Is this now only community based or is a team member still active on the thread as well? Privacy is key and Monero stands for privacy. Monero = key.

There are still developers as well as core-team members active here. Additionally, there's a large and vibrant community on reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/

Perhaps the OP of the thread requires an update.
