Disobey.
I made this silly video some of you guys may appreciate:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHnnj2noPak

Thought I'd share it here for any of you guys that are too cool to visit le reddit.

Love it, sorry out of merit right now, sure deserves some!

Also, I got an important question:

- I want to verify a balance of a certain address WITHOUT exposing the private (spend) key.

Using this tool, I managed to verify balances in the past, using the public address, tx-id and spend-key: https://xmr.llcoins.net/checktx.html
However, when I try with these three right now, it doesn't work. I am wondering, if the tool is somehow "down", or if there is a problem on my end?
Can someone check this? Tried with Firefox and in Chrome, same "result", when I put in all three parameters and press CHECK, *nothing* happens.

Thanks

PS: Also would appreciate if someone could guide me to an other method (maybe using the GUI wallet?) on how to easily prove a XMR balance without private spend key import.

That tool uses MoneroBlocks to fetch transactions. MoneroBlocks may have been temporarily offline and/or stuck.

With respect to a guide, have you looked at?

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2868/is-there-any-way-to-construct-a-transaction-manually/

The first steps of that guide allow one to set up a proper view only wallet that shows incoming transactions, outgoing transactions, as well as a proper balance.

Appreciate the answer. Will take a closer look at the manual construction.
However, the tool works now. Must have been a temporary offline issue as you said.

Does anyone know what's up with Monero Moon by johnfoss? Haven't seen a new issue here for a long time.

Monero is the best desktop wallet you can store.

Huh
Your post makes no sense...

1. It has been discontinued. Rehrar typically posts a weekly newsletter now though (the Monero Revuo):

https://www.reddit.com/user/Rehrar/submitted/

2. I think he meant Zelcore, which has Monero integrated.

Hello developer! Can you request in CEX.IO to add your coin on their trading list? I want to buy this coin using my debit card in cex.io.

Thank you!

Not sure if you are aware but nova exchange are offering free listing for former Cryptopia listed coins

Any exchange is welcomed to list Monero. If they need any help doing so there is almost 24/7 support on Monero communication channels like IRC https://webchat.freenode.net/   #monero , #monero-dev

Are you sure Monero need to apply for listing on this exchange it is legit coin and it already have good support. You should learn about any project before post this kind suggestion.

My friend when I first started to mine monero it was 0.3$ or so, you seem to have a narrow minded sight, it wasn't a question if "monero is desperate to be there", it was more like a "easy bonus" that does not necessitate a lot of effort(maybe 10 minutes for input in a form from a "entitled person").

Monero's reputation was not in question just an fyi, anyway if it was "so inappropriate" a moderator can remove my earlier post so everyone is happy

VPN Friendly & Exclusive Bonuses!
I think Monero is one of the undervalued coins. The price is less than $ 100 (~87$). Distinctive features of XMR distinguish anonymity and decentralization. Monero doesn't have a clear leader, like Buterin in Ethereum and the development direction of the project is determined by the community. I think this is what a real crypto project should be. Decentralization should be real, like Bitcoin, and not like most projects. That is what attracts me to Monero.

I believe they are targeting the next crypto hype in 2020-2021. Those new people will not really care much of private keys. They will just want to buy something fast.

Sounds pretty solid to me, by the way.

I thought I had read that Monero was adopted as one of the coins being held in the wallet and that is what I cared about, haveing a on/offramp.

I could care less about the pegged exchange.

ADDED:

OK, I have found the pertinent info.

However, you can withdrawal and to an altcoin address: (0x (ZRX), Augur (REP), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Dash (DASH), Digibyte (DGB), Doge (DOGE), EOS (EOS), Classic (ETC), Golem (GNT), Lisk (LSK), Monero (XMR), NEM (XEM), Neo (NEO), OmiseGo (OMG), Qtum (QTUM), XRP (XRP), Status (SNT), Stellar (XLM), Stratis (STRAT), Tron (TRN), Vertcoin (VTC), or Zcash (ZEC)) but network fees are different as we still do not natively support our altcoins yet.

Anytime a withdrawal is done for an altcoin you will be charged a bitcoin network fee plus a Bittrex withdrawal fee. As we do not natively support our altcoins at this time, they are still synthetic within the Abra app. When a withdraw is initiated for an altcoin the underlining currency is still bitcoin, thus you will be charged the bitcoin network fee. In the background, Abra is using Bittrex to exchange BTC for the altcoin you are withdrawing. Bittrex charges a withdrawal fee. Due to this, the Bittrex fee is passed to you the user.

So yes, they were using some shady wording and by one measure you can "withdraw" (actually you convert to btc then rebuy on bittrex and then withdraw from there).

SO basically that Orange statement is a straight out lie.

What is synthetic? ie not real

do they even hold the xmr at all?

It's worth reading how abra explains its functioning

https://www.abra.com/blog/abras-synthetic-currency/

I'm still not sure what cryptos you can withdraw.

I see what your saying now, its pretty shadey the wording they use. Apparently they are pegging 80 coins but only allowing actual withdrawal of

Code:
Withdrawal

US banks show me show me
Philippines banks show me show me
 *Tellers show me show me
 Bitcoin show me show me
 Litecoin show me show me
Bitcoin Cash show me show me
 Ether show me show me

Even though they state you own your own keys with multisig.

It's pretty slick wording and probably illegal.

Riccardo "fluffypony" Spagni, the South African-based Lead Maintainer of the Monero Project, said Monero's inclusion on the Abra platform would further boost the ability of investors in emerging markets across Africa and the world to unlock new markets and opportunities.

"Together with Abra, we share a common goal of creating a system of global financial services that have no centralised authorities involved in their creation, distribution, enforcement or usage," said Spagni. "Beyond that, the increased liquidity and awareness for Monero that Abra will generate is an incredibly exciting development for the Monero community."

What I remember of ABRA, but my info could be old they dont allow for you to withdraw Monero . Just Bitcoin. You can buy Monero there and hold it, but when you want to withdraw you need to change into Bitcoin.

It's a wallet isn't it? Why wouldn't you be able to spend coins from a wallet?

The entire original design was initially based on transferring money for migrant workers like western union does.

If I get the drive I'll open an account and give it a go. I started the other day but they wanted a phone number so I'll have to setup a temp one to use.

I was hoping someone already did this, its been almost a year.

Bad news for holders of anonymity coins it seems. This looks like the first delisting of Zcash and Monero and it’ll certainly not be the last.

not sure about this...

Who the fuck is BitOasis and who the fuck cares?

Bad new for the retards who use an exchange in a dictatorship and use an exchange to store their coins but otherwise Meh.

Still in the unlikely event its not just faked? they will in that case seem to be suggesting a coin burn. Great. (or maybe they gonna disappear it?)

Meh, who knows what those rag heads are gonna do, they have too much lead in their environment and are mentally retarded.
