Does the top 10 really mean anything?

Mostly visibility. Sometimes it contributes to inclusion in indexes or funds.

Think it is over for Monero at this point.  BTC ratio is getting weaker and doesn't show signs of a rebound.  XMR volume remains low compared to eth and btc and still hasn't gained any notable adoption rate.  Time to pack it up boys and head for greener pastures.  Was a good ride while it lasted.

On the contrary, getting out now would be ridiculous.  Monero has bottomed and steadied, while other alts are continuing to crater.  XMR now sits in the top 10 on CMC, and in terms of price has shot past LTC and in market cap has left Dash / Darkcoin for dust.  Even in USD terms Monero is way above the $30 level it hit not so long ago.

Yes, BTC is unassailable right now, due to institutional money only wanting the liquidity and security of the No. 1.  However, when retail returns the market cap dominance rise will stall as the whole market has its day again in the reflected sunshine of the next bull run.

XMR is currently a great buy.  Thanks for confirming this with a little welcome trolling.

Does the top 10 really mean anything?  These projects are ranked ahead of xmr:

Ripple: centralized excel spreadsheet

eos: centralized can take your coins

Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin Cash, I don't really care about these coins but most of the bitcoin guys here consider these to be scam shitcoins.

I really do think this time is different and don't believe XMR will ever recover in btc price.

All these people kept saying it wouldn't go under .012, they were sure of it....... Grin

I still applaud the privacy angle they attempted to do but that doesn't really have an effect on the price.

Drug kingpinz and whalez indeed. I think the guy selling fake weed in my college dorm all those years ago could at least afford more than what those poor kingpins had in their wallets.

OR were they really funnelling 99% of their transactions through a privacy coin? gasp.

I agree. Monero had now become only a fashion brand.

XMR = US$ 81.88 now.  Quite a bargain for such a solid project.

Though majority of my holdings are in Bitcoin, I do hold a little Monero, have always liked it and liked fluffypony.

I don't think the pain is over yet. This [Bitcoin dominance] chart has a decent likelihood of being accurate:

Shit its all just a river of red, why did I look? Grin

Yup. So much for a recession to be good for crypto. We will first see a real mess. It will be interesting year to come. I hope everyone have a hobby to not look at charts to much.

I keep telling my friends that it's all interrelated at the moment. Crypto is not yet removed from fiat, how can it be when almost all new crypto projects raise money in fiat and then all is dumped for fiat right? So if economy is bad, nobody wants to buy crypto.

Definitely no more looking at charts for a long time now. Learned my lesson already!

The greatest bullish sign for the long haul in XMR is the nature of the network. The nature of the network (early bitcoiners and well-associated individuals) is something which makes the coin effective over the long haul. Sure we have unpredictability for short-pull however the genuine BagHodlerstm are for the whole deal and will end up rich if this succeeds (the chances for progress is shockingly high for this situation).

I have been pleased overall with the altpocalypse, especially with the comparative resilience of Monero, but if bitcoin ignites in the midst of global financial turmoil we will see it drag the quality alts up with it. The big players understand the value proposition of xmr.  The next 9-12 months might be like 2016-17 (early), or like something the world has never seen before.

Either way... We will survive.

I can't argue with this.
