Its funny people say bitcoin cant be considered money yet because its not a unit of account, but to many people who mess around in altcoins it definitely is a unit of account.

i'd say most of the people who are in bitcoin longterm (i bought my first at the first 30$ mark) realize its usefulness as a currency. i fear many people who got in later are not there yet.

i never sold a btc: but i spent some as it reached 1000$.

so - just as you - i value monero in btc and not in eur

i have to admin that i bought some XMR, in fact i bought double the number i keep in btc.
and i did it before this rally Smiley
what do you think about the price? where are we going ?

Many, including me, are still underwater and we do not intend to sell at loss nor even profits that represent peanuts.
I am personally willing to see how this saga ends.
Will I become a millionaire or will I continue poorer than I would be if I would not invested into this.

This describes me as well. My monero is not for sale. At least not at any price anywhere near what it is now.

just out of curiosity: do you define "underwater" in btc or fiat?

When it comes to altcoins I conceptualize value in terms of bitcoin. Bitcoin is my point of reference. So bitcoin.

Its funny people say bitcoin cant be considered money yet because its not a unit of account, but to many people who mess around in altcoins it definitely is a unit of account.

Seriously though, like I could see that most coins on plx weren't really for sale, but didn't know that it was that little.

I have a strange thing, i call it "my feeling" whenever i buy anything it goes only UP....
i had this in bitcoin also. and lot of other altcoins.
but on this one i see great future ahead.
so i left my feeling away and i wanted to ask how do others see the future on this.

thank you for sharing you opinion.

i read gui will be available also. do we have any update on that?

I had never held an alt before, until I discovered monero last summer.  Before I even did much research into it, I just had a gut feeling that here was something special.  I still think so, and I hold more than I had ever considered last year  Cool
I love that there is steady progress in development,  and no p&d.  It's almost as if the team and community are working toward a viable monetary system,  and not just a get rich quick scheme.  Tongue

i have the same idea here...and it's the first coin i boughtt and will forget about selling it...will have a look on that years later...
i might buy more but selling not gonna happen for the next couple of years.

to paraphrase something I read somewhere:  Monero is everything bitcoin should have been.

Well to be honest, having a completely transparent P2P ledger most definitely has its place in the world. Monero is all of the anonymity that Bitcoin doesn't have. And there is definitely a very large market for anonymity Cheesy

On a side note: Only 30BTC worth of buys until we hit 0.003BTC/XMR

I meant it this way: if DarkCoin crashes now to (basically) zero.

We have to give up (todays long-term) sub-goals like:
- getting to 50% DarkCoin marketcap
- getting to 66% DarkCoin marketcap
- getting to 80% DarkCoin marketcap
- getting to 100% DarkCoin marketcap

Because they wont matter anymore. We would need to find new goals/target marks.

i like the goals risto presented: 2$, 20$, 200$ [...]
i think we should not make goals related to any cryptocurrency.
IMHO monero is / will be strong enough to stand on its own.

When was that ever a Monero milestone?

Jeah, but I would give it some time (and alot of work he have to do) to get there.

But if Dark crashes now, due to the renaming desaster, we need a new comparison indicator then DarkCoin.

But lets take it easy and go step by step and just reach $1 first and stay over it for 6 or 8 weeks or something.

The reality is that if Darkcoin / Dash crashes Monero will be the lead anon coin. So it will also be the comparison indicator. It will not, for better or worse, be "an obscure cryptocoin".

To me the rally is due to the fact that there is very little people willing to sell at current prices.
Many, including me, are still underwater and we do not intend to sell at loss nor even profits that represent peanuts.
I am personally willing to see how this saga ends.
Will I become a millionaire or will I continue poorer than I would be if I would not invested into this.
I played the pump and dump game durinf the summer time but now I am not in playing mood.
I suggest also for other players going to roll dice if you want to have more excitement into your lifes, not dumping Monero since it potentially can make you rich.

The issue will be maintaining value once this current excitement subsides. If we get to 1 USD that would be around 17 000 USD/day to absorb miner emissions. As I've said before that is a lot of money (for a somewhat obscure cryptocoin) to a small amount of money (if crypto coin speculators are still interested in getting in) to a tiny, insignificant amount of money (if investors from outside crypto want to get in).

Have you guys seen the order book and market depth? Bullish as all hell if you ask me! I can't believe all this recent attention Monero is getting. People must be jumping the DRK ship and onto the XMR life boat soon-to-be Mega Luxury Cruise Ship Cheesy
