This is so true. I feel cool as a cucumber right now knowing that I hedged. Instead of thinking about the USD losses (that I am definately taking) i'm really finding myself more focused on the exciting prospect of having more crypto when the dust settles.

Hello Anon136, could explain how you hedge XMR and how much it costs you?

I didn't hedge XMR specifically. I hedged my whole crypto portfolio in a way by selling my bitcoin when it started falling hard and putting in a stop order at the price that I sold it at. So worst case scenario, if it stops falling and going back up the exchange will automatically buy it back at the same price that I sold. No fancy contracts or anything. I cant even get on bitfinex being an american. Either way though it makes me feel so much less stressed about both the decline in bitcoin and monero.

I wonder...

Frequently when alts crash, XMR holds up better than most of the pack.  But today it is the opposite.  XMR seems to be losing more than usual.

I wonder if this might be somewhat influenced by the fact we could be following the pre-forkcoin selloff as the original date for the snapshot was today.

A certain percentage of people dumb enough to buy XMR to get the forkcoins would also be dumb enough not to have noticed they didn't get them yet and still sell off...

Just a thought.

I mean - maybe? That's some pretty dumb people though...

HATE you guys! Tongue
I'm always dry during these times. Smiley

Hey me too man. Just not THIS time. I liquidated my bitcoin at 9000. If bitcoin falls while monero falls further relative to bitcoin at the same time, I may not be going back into bitcoin when I turn that liquidity back into crypto. Grin

We'll see. I'm starting to get some signs that I made the right call but it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

Where do you see XMR by year end?

I was thinking 0.05 and 1200usd, however I'm now closer to 0.02 and 200usd

Hopium depleted, moving through grief stages. Soon to be acceptance.

Sorry bud that's not how I think about investing. I don't have price targets. I don't have ANY clue.

That's fair, I only asked as this is XMR speculation Smiley

Haha it's not an unfair question. I just don't even have a speculation to make in that regard.

Buy tech that you know is good and has a value proposition for the world. Hold patiently. Don't get emotional. Don't get in over your head. Take careful modest profit when times are good. These are the sorts of things I think about and make my decisions based upon and they are almost totally independent of price. So I don't really think about price that much honestly.

I think I've said it before, but if your mood swings this fast and extreme, you've invested too much.
Sell some, and enjoy the rest of the ride!  Smiley

I invested a small amount reasonably early. So it's not the amount I have invested Smiley

Also I see the fair value of XMR based on supply and fundamentals at around 750usd per coin. So I'd rather hold to nothing than sell now.

as usual failed the having the balls test to flip anything out at a top. Hold, on.

I'm with you one this! It comes from missing the train the first time for me, just can't take the chance of missing it again so cannot take advantage of the big swings. :|

I agree with you.
Any thought's on the market?

I am a terrible speculator.  I should probably not even post in this thread. Wink

I think XMR is suffering from a set of circumstances.

1.  Last winter's crypto explosion, and current correction.  Looks to me like Bitcoin is trying to decide if it is going to continue the bear or get back on the rocket.  Looks to me like it is continuing the bear.  This has a HUGE impact on all of crypto including XMR.
2.  The forkcoin.  This created some sort of "artificial" volume and hype moving us into the 30s and now that is gone.

This combination looks short term bearish for XMR to me.

I remain long term bullish on this project, and it's value.
