do we have any speculation on how many coins the biggest fish in the monero sea holds?

100k? 300k? do we think anyone out there has a million xmr?

disclaimer: i know it's more than me.

700k was the highest I know of--though those were lost at sea in a hack.

I've never heard of anyone having 700k. I'd guess the largest (individual) holder has under 500k XMR. Probably even less.

I am out of Bitcoin since 7400, which has proven timely on a short-term scale.  Probably, however, it is premature to conclude the pre-futures, pre-s2x ramp is over.  It also seems too soon to really price-in XMR multisig.  The current ratio feels more like a foreshadowing of the future 3 weeks out than it is like a correction.

A pullback has looked/felt likely for a while. Yet on up it has marched.

6000 is the target in another analysis thread I'm following. I wonder what will happen to the relative Monero price

Any numbers on past performance in krw?

Just a ballpark figure of the normal daily % will do.

I dont think many days Fiat volume exceeds BTC volume. Yesterday was the case and not just because high KRW volume but also USD.

For those that are afraid that there is so big chunk of volume on Bithumb, they need to realize that Bithumb is biggest exchange so is sort of normal to be most. And when Poloniex had even 90% volume, nothing really bad happened.

Poloniex had troubles with some deposits and withdrawals, especially on Ethereum iirc, and this has upset many and made them leave for another exchanges.

Poloniex's problem is their daily $25k withdrawal limit that they enforce for cryptos, it's getting more and more inconvenient and annoying. Bitfinex doesn't enforce any withdrawal limit for cryptos.

The Koreans coming into Monero are what caused the August rise and spike, so not really news.

I've missed that, I guess it was during my holiday when I was behind with the news. Thanks.

But this is a beauty to behold: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/#markets

A year ago we were worried that 99% of the trading was at Poloniex and that it was all dependent on a single exchange.

That exchange is one of many now and is only ranked number 3 now.

Poloniex had troubles with some deposits and withdrawals, especially on Ethereum iirc, and this has upset many and made them leave for another exchanges.
Now.. with 39%... should we get scared of Bithumb? Cheesy or just admit that we overreacted about Poloniex' reign back then (since it was not really the only one, just the much most used)?

Aha, so this is the actual news. I've been wondering what caused such a price jump lately.
Are the Asians getting into their senses and start to find out that Monero is much more suitable than Bitcoin to hide their money?

Not sure how much they actually already appreciate the qualities of Monero.

the future is looking very bright for monero, put on your sun glasses guys  Cool

Interesting set of words coming out of Moon Man, but I agree to some degree and would like to quote gicafranaru from reddit
"...most of the people hiding money in tax heaves do so to avoid paying somewhere around 10-50% tax on their money. No sane rich person would put all his hidden money in cryptocurrencies for now, the volatility risk is way bigger than the tax they would have to pay in their home country. Cryptocurrencies will be considered as alternatives when they mature, and volatility will drop to an accepted level of risk."

So we still have a hill to climb. Another good one for this occasion: "We are on top of the mountain and we are only half way there".

Considerating that the crypto volatility tends to be like plus 100% every 4 months I can see this process self sustanly accelerating. So let´s say they only try with 1% of his hidden money at the beginning. Crypto also has this natural addictive property and snowball effect.

If you consider as well that global economy is about to totally and catastrophically collapse sometime in the coming 24 to 48 months it seems like we have the perfect storm ahead

I mean i'm more than happy for them to join the boat with anything, just probability of hiding 1% instead of looking for offshore "bank" or 3rd party for 100% is just not rational. Sure maybe you would want to dip toes into the water to see if it works.

If we add collapse into the mix i'm sure it's because dollar is not world's reserve currency anymore and hyper inflation is kicking in, so ppl would have much more to think about than rising XMR price in inflating dollars.

Now that we've had another major leak of offshore wealth in the Paradise papers, is that going to be the wake-up call for the wealthy and elite to start using Monero to hide their wealth?

We've seen that the AlphaBay shutdown has been a serious wake-up call for DNMs. Now we are starting to get a new wave of DNMs that accept Monero only for payment. They've seen the light. Multisig will get the ball rolling in a very serious way for them.

Once we get hardware wallets, it seems like the door will open in a big way for rich people to start hiding their wealth in Monero.

Maybe a coin can also stay at a stable value, like LTC at 4 dollars and now at 55. Maybe mondeo has founds his equilibrium at the 100 mark, who knows?
