So BTC is over 750 on most exchanges now - but XMR doesn't seem to care...

Now we have ousted Dash from Finex, too - it's looking rather rosy - maybe we will not have the December lows of old after all....

If BTC fails to stay over 750 this time, the hopes of any 2013-style run will fade fast and we look a tasty alternative with no scaling problems and no miner wars to stress over.

Gimme that GUI on top of BTC fizzling again and I think things are looking very sweet indeed.

XMR holding tight is surprising... in a good way, December is set to get interesting, we saw a 30% rise based on a bad exchange adding the coin. How far will it go when the GUI is released

Well we are currently up 10% since the news and up 900% since the first of the year

Put it like that and it's impossible to argue it's not been a good year already.

Those numbers are compared to btc which ofc went up as well, so.............

And yet this is just the DAWN

Bally bad show old chap. The old girls just a bit tired.

We are still blighty and there will always be a corner of some foreign field that shall be forever England.

Cheers governor, Monero stiff upper lip and all that. You shall never take our freedoms gentlemens.

Guys, I might have to become a criminal soon, so may be forced to buy XMR.

Ooh, that sounds exciting!

Lost the Walmart job, then? Wink
I'm english kurious, so no. On a related note, did you know that 38% of americans could not point to england on a global map?

Likely the same amount of English could not point on an unlabeled map where the state of Wisconsin was without cheating.

The U.S. Has 50 states so much more than a single country on the map. Your point is moot.

It's shrunk so much that no one even cares where it is. California has almost the same GDP, really england is a non-entity to the world and not deserving of the time spent to write this post. You limeys can enjoy your new laws of saving everyone's browsing history for a decade. I'm sure that will work out well.

BTW Smoothie, I took a pic with the XMR coin you sent as a card protector and the damn phone didn't save it!

Interesting story about China implementing capital controls. This could have something to do with the recent spike in Bitcoin, and possibly Monero too?

There may soon be hundreds of billions of renminbi trying to get out of China. What could be easier than buying Bitcoin (or better still, Monero) in China for renminbi and selling for dollars elsewhere?

If this meme were to take hold...

You are quite correct in your assertion - I confess I couldn't have placed it in all honesty.

However in defence of us non-US citizens here, if Wisconsin were a country it would rank 90th in the world (behind Uraguay) and has a population of less than England's biggest city, so it's not a totally fair comparison.

Just sayin'! Smiley

@kurious
I wish you all good luck with buying/selling anything on Bitfinex.

And it's not true, there is sites where you can buy monero directly with fiat.

https://monerodirect.com/

https://anycoindirect.eu/en/buy/monero

https://shapeshift.io/?gclid=CNuAmsz20tACFVEW0wodyB0PLQ#/coins

https://www.litebit.eu/en/buy/monero

list goes on and on...

Since you ignored my question I will answer it for all to see.  The following is from SS's FAQ.......
________________________________________________

Can I purchase bitcoin and cryptocurrencies on Shapeshift with a debit card or credit card?

August 02, 2016 20:05

No. ShapeShift does not allow users to purchase with debit cards, credit cards or any other payment system that would allow for fiat currencies (USD, Euros, Pesos, etc.) to be traded.

We have a strict no fiat policy and only allow users to exchange between bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies we support.

Edit:  being in the US makes the other options you listed unavailable to me.  As far as the other options that go on and on, have you used them?  How viable are they?

To get Monero into bitstamp would be awesome.
I think it won't happen, they don't want dirty business around them, and they only do serious business and that's BTC. No shitcoins or altcoins nearby.

lol.

They actually lend money  for some farm buisness which owner was blackmailed and, ...  Owner of that farm was high school friend with one of the Bitstamp owners. If you want to know more just google Slovenian newspapers.

They are more like satisfied with what they have and dont need more.  I think if any coin they will implement Monero.

I am English too, Volyova and I think 38% is an probably an overestimate, I understand less than a third of that number had a passport before they started insisting on one to cross into Canada recently.

Seriously though - are you actually buying our beloved currency, joining in with us criminals?

I would wait to see if BTC can keep over 750 and if so, pick up a dip, looks like this push might at least produce wobbles.....  I dumped a lot of alts early this morning just in case (not XMR, though).

Welcome on board if you are taking a punt.
Hey, thanks mate! It has gone up a lot though, in a short amount of time, which is dangerous. I'll prolly hang on for that gui wallet LOL.

Yes, I won't argue with that, but it's a good coin - no premine and all that, devs are honest...  Fundamentals are good.

As for the GUI, I know it's been Soon™ for so long it's a running joke, I do personally expect it to be within 4-6 weeks at the latest now, it's just daemon updates - the thing is basically done (bar some debugging).

The volume is huge and liquidity is good as you know, so while it does fluctuate and still may dip from the Finex news spike, accumulating slowly now during December is not a terrible idea in advance of the GUI.

I think by February any December buys might look rather genius-like - but hey, whatever you do - good luck.
