Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

Probably best to close both threads, start a new one in dev and link to it from both. One official thread now that the idea has come to this stage.

Agreed.

Thanks kindly for the suggestion, both. I don't frequent dev much, but that does seem to be the most logically choice. I will do that in a couple hours, for I'm tied up at the moment. The last couple of hours I've been putting some more thought into this project and believe I may have a solution as to how and what direction to take this endeavor. Don't worry! It doesn't involve an imaginary alpaca.

At the onset, the process could easily be accomplished manually, but as time passes, I envision that taking way too much effort. That said, I'm open to suggestions.

My answer to most things like this is: Decentralize. My suggestion: Each member can promote any other member to his or her own level, but no higher.

Decentralize eh? Seems a good match for bitcoin. How about a new blockchain/"coin" whose sole P2P purpose is to keep track of members?

Hmm. I didn't think that through though... the nature of it seems to allow anyone with the software to... invite themselves...

Replying to both posters above at same time.

Interesting concept! This may be exactly what I'm looking for. Is there a way to build a hierarchychain, one that not only keeps tracks of members, but ranks them accordingly as well?

Speaking of the ranking aspect, I first only thought of this as a novelty aspect for the members, but I now believe that ranked members should have more privileges than lower ranked members. What those should consist of is open for discussion.

I'm now in a quagmire. I have two threads going, and the content in both is important and needs to be merged so that there's only one central local to discuss the development of Freecoiner. I've previously stated that I won't start a thread in Discussion until the site is up and running. That only leaves the Newbie thread, this thread, or start another one in Project Development, locking the former two. When I started the current threads, they were both justified, but not anymore. Suggestions, please!

Anyone feel like officially inviting me?

Consider yourself invited, mokahless. For anybody else still in queue for an invite, please don't fret it or become disappointed. There's plenty of time before Freecoiner comes online.

~Bruno~

Cool thanks. Do you have ideas on how you plan to keep track of members yet?

Yes! I have this alpaca which has a memory like an elephant. Seriously, I have a rudimentary plan in mind. Keeping track of members won't be as difficult as to having them automatically receive ranking. At the onset, the process could easily be accomplished manually, but as time passes, I envision that taking way too much effort. That said, I'm open to suggestions.

Here's a thought. Combine the Globe idea with the gold coin you posted earlier. A kind of globe in the background but drawn with circuit traces.

Traces on a green circuit board would work well for continents. Kind of showing a digital world connection and placing the bitcoin logo in the center.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j6FLgqaYfgw/TdU1QyasHwI/AAAAAAAAAAA/1Dx4OuoTuzk/s640/IMG_3593.jpg

When I googled, I couldn't find quite what I was looking for. A lot of globes where circuit traces were in the background, but none where the continents on the globe itself were traces.

The only issue with a globe is that if this is a worldwide organization, only one side of the globe can be shown at a time. Perhaps two globes, one each side of the earth, slightly overlapping the the bitcoin B in the middle. Or perhaps the orientation of the globe could change depending on the location of the people using the logo at a given time?

I would totally draw something like this up but I have no artistic talent or much photoshop experience. So here is a pixellated draft of both ideas:

If you are able to tell which continents I drew where, you will have impressed me Tongue

If you need extra help with the website, I've recently taught myself some PHP and Javascript. Not sure if I'll have much free time though.

Psy mentioned the UN map, whereupon I immediately thought about the Gall–Peters projection.

You can even consider turning it upside down like in TWW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVX-PrBRtTY

don't split it.... Should be original.. and the globe in the background should be some funky designs like on the coin thing... Unless I'm just spitting out stuff I saw in a dream Smiley

Haha. I've never looked that closely at the UN flag. That's a good idea.

If you wish to see all continents on a globe, take a look at the UN flag. They solved that problem very well Wink

don't worry, you didn't offend me.
I just felt the need to use formal language, since we are witnessing the birth of a great thingamajig in this thread.
