I can see my miner on the pool through my wallet address, kind of interesting.  I had to access solo.ckpool.org through my browser, then click the CenturyLink page that was attempting to block the site, reboot my CenturyLink router and now Alive.  Prior to that the solo.ckpool.org was Dead.

Hello all, new Solo Miner here testing my luck on solo.ckpool with some CompacF's I was able to snag a few weeks ago. I had a couple newbie questions/clarifications for you guys if you dont mind...

- I came across a post that mentioned cgminer may not support BECH addresses for solo mining, only p2pkh addreses, is this still the case? (I am currently using my "bc1" BECH address)
- Also want to confirm the - p (password) to be entered can be any random generated password and there is no need to enter this password in the cgminer backend?
- If I wanted to occasionally rent some hash I would use the same pool address (cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u xxx.0 -p xxx) with possibly a different "xxx.worker" name ?

Thank you all, I really appreciate it!

Pool's humming along finely as far as I can see. Almost certainly a routing problem from your area to the pool.

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.01 BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 9 blocks --> 188 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address 3KWE8HcunSfvfNBy3CdXZdQ2HyvierBxeT and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

Again two people have sent coins although they had no space. The effort to manage this increases and increases.
FROM NOW I CONSIDER EVERY TX SENT WITHOUT HAVING A PLACE AS MY PERSONAL DONATION.
If you are unsure, ask first!

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are only reservations for people who pay at least 10 block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2022 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2022 all payments are used around longer to run.

Please send reservation amounts only when you read an OK from me!

I believe it's worth trying because the chances are still better than Vegas odds.  But he could still come out with $0 at the end.

Not sure if the odds are any better than Vegas, you need to factor in a few more variables that will somehow reduce the odds، it will not be exactly 1 in 2.

But hey i say this because i do not have an extra 100k to play with, value is subjective, since your friend gamles with 6 digits then why not.

Hello,

How to configure CG Miner on Ubuntu to mine without ASIC, simply from a PC that has a single CG 3070 ?
I did not find the solution

If we don't have ASIC :

 [2022-02-18 11:43:32] No devices detected!
[2022-02-18 11:43:32] Waiting for USB hotplug devices or press q to quit

Best regards
Get an ASIC. You can't meaningfully mine bitcoin with a GPU, and I removed the code to do so from cgminer almost a decade ago.

Thank you for your answer, I will find an ASIC

Hypothetically, if you invested $100,000 US in hashpower for lets's say two weeks straight, what are the chances of taking home a win?   Has anyone ever attempted that?   It's a crazy of money but I was wondering if that's almost a 1-in-4 chance of solving a block (depending on how much hashpower you can buy).   The ROI is not bad if the odds (and luck) is good.

Time is irrelevant in your question, it does not matter if you spend the 100k in 2 minutes or 2 weeks, it is the number of shares or attempts.

So an easy way to answer your question is to look at the average daily profit per th, which now about 173 dollars, so your 100k can get you 578 ph for 24 hours straight ( ignoring all the other variables which i can tell you about in a different post).

That amount of hashrate needs on average 2 days + a few hours to hit a block, so your 24h chance is 1 in 2.xx.

**Need to be on my pc to give you exact figures, but these rough figures should be good enough to answer your question.

Another different way is to look at it is in fiat value, the current block value is about 250k, if you invest 250k in hashrate your chance is 1 in 1, if you invest 25k it is 1 in 10.

Of course this is all just theory and luck will be all that matters, but IMO it is very unwise to gamble with half a block worth just to hit a block, the risk to reward ratio is just terrible, you may hit 2 blocks and you may hit zero blocks.

The way most of us do this is risk almost nothing in hopes to win everything, it makes a lot of sense that way.

Thanks for that detail.  I ask because a friend of mine (incredible luck) wanted to know if it was worth trying.  He is the kind of guy that goes to Las Vegas and can blow 3mil in 48 hours and not even think a second about it.  I believe it's worth trying because the chances are still better than Vegas odds.  But he could still come out with $0 at the end.

The ROI is not bad if the odds (and luck) is good.

we have invest ~ 110.000 EUR ~ $125.000 für 500PHs for 24h ang got no block

Hi, ck hero,

Please allow me to ask you a question?

In your solo pool, there may be some extreme fast solo miner running in front of pool with new block header, can it cause slow miners to run on the same local work (block headers generated locally in cgminer) which have already been hashed out by those fast miners?

Is the coinbase data the same for all solo miners in your pool?

Bat on 3.12

cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:20 -o solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u My.btc.address -p x --bmsc-freq 0781

Bat on 4.8

cgminer.exe  --bmsc-options 115200:0.57 -o http://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u My.btc.address -p x --bmsc-voltage 0750  --bmsc-freq 0781

boths start and detect the USB miner, but shows like picture

Hi,  you got 17 PH/s huge miner. May I ask you if you can solve one block header every day?
I just like to know on statistics purpose.
we rent the Hashing power by Nicehash.
since 2015 up to now, i organiced 52 Runs and we found 9 blocks with a sum of ~187 BTC Smiley
to found each day a block or only in each run, yes it is possible, but you need a lot of more hashpower for that.
our runs depending on luck and did not found on each run a block Wink

Great Thank You for sharing your great experience with us!  Wonderful!
