You mention it works fine in windows with version 4.11.1.

4.9.2 is pretty old, maybe it doesn't support the hardware. Latest build from kano's cgminer, which supports the ferraris, is 4.12.0. It's available here: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer

It is picking up the hub as I can plug a keyboard and mouse into it and they both work, its just not the Newpacs....

Do 1 new pac and see if it works the hub may not handle 5.

If that does not work go to the new pac thread and ask there.

I am happily solomining away on 4.11.1 with my windows PC but I am really struggling with getting it to work with my pi... I have bought powered USB 'hats' but it never seems to find my miners (4 x Newpacs) even with using the same powered hub that works fine with Windows.

Has anybody created a Pi image to install straight from Pi imager?

I have seen preconfigured sdcards on Ebay but for the price they are charging - I am a poor disabled student and don't think my kidneys are worth enough to cover the cost!

I have trawled this forum for suggestions but I think I just make it worse!

Install your Pi OS (assuming Raspbian) following the normal instructions. Then you can follow these steps: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.58200639

Those will clone cgminer from github, compile it, and the version in the Ferrari thread will also find and support previous generation Gekko devices.

Many thanks, cgminer is now working.. it now won't see any of my miners. I have a high-power hub plugged into a usb3 port on the pi.

screen shot the cgminer screen so we can see it. it will give us an idea of what is wrong.

Shares are actions that CKPOOL takes for quality and sends them???

A share is a valid hash that your miner finds. Shares have a "difficulty" - if your share's difficulty is higher than the network difficulty, you win and find a block.  Think about difficulty as the number of shares your miner will have to generate before finding a block. Today's difficulty is 28,225,928,151,211 - statistically, if you generate that amount of shares, you'll be likely to find a block. (You can also find a block with only one share, but it's very unlikely.)

Now, I need to pass KYC and BTC Positive Balance[/b]

You don't need to pass any sort of KYC on nicehash, you just need to fill your wallet with funds and then rent the hashrate you want, but keep in mind there are two types of contracts you can buy, fixed and standard, you need to learn the difference between them and then decide what works best for you.

Hello, Nicehash does not shows solo.ckpool.org like a SHA256 compatible pool

https://www.nicehash.com/compatible-pools

Thanks, I was able to configure ckpool on Nicehash on port _4334_ for an ASIC difficulty of 50000.
Nicehash Test Ckpool miner Ok!

Now, I need to pass KYC and BTC Positive Balance

Hello
Thanks again everyone, and specially to philipma1957 and mikeywith for yours extensive answers, it´s gold to me, I really appreciate you taking the time to clarify my doubts.

Now, i appears in solo.ckpool.org!
https://solo.ckpool.org/users/bc1q3lvrz46pnl8l5snfcxrpu92vd3ncxjqq8vzha4

NEW MINING CONCEPT
I'll try a new concept to raise the hashrate by increasing the odds, so i can improve hashrate by 100.000
I need at least 10 Th/s to increase my solo mining to 10 Th/s x 100.000 = 1000 Exahash/s or 1 Petahash/s

Can someone give me this 10 Th/s this month by connecting as second (bc1q3lvrz46pnl8l5snfcxrpu92vd3ncxjqq8vzha4.2) or third miner (bc1q3lvrz46pnl8l5snfcxrpu92vd3ncxjqq8vzha4.3) to my account this month?

It's a project for school, going well I'd be getting a successful block that month!
 Cheesy

Why not use Nicehash.com and rent a little bit of extra hashpower?  It's not too pricey.

I get connected to solo.ckpool.org diff 10k with stratum at my BTC address, with WU 2.6M and Diff 28.6T at 200 Mh/s

1. Why i don't get any info of my address?

With that kind of hashrate, it will take you forever to find a valid share that would register on the pool.

2. How i can calculate a minimum hashrate for at least luck mining?

There is no such thing but in general anything below a few tens of Gigahashes is pretty useless IMO.

Hello again, i want o know the means of best share,

1. That isn't share sended o ckpool, is it? in that case cgminer shows 2.6 Hashes per minute, Is that right?

It's the best or largest share you submitted since the last block found by the pool.

Quote
2. Why ckpool don't shows my stats at my address user?

Same as the answer above (your hashrate is 200mh)

5. A guy offers me a 4-5 terahash ASIC machine, Is it enough for solo mining?

If you have free power or otherwise use the heat to warm your room, maybe it's worth it, if not then it's not.

'The right to privacy matters'
Hello willi9974 and everyone else,

I'm a beginner rookie, I'm a child and my father give me an old PC to learn mining stuff. So I'm trying to test some lottery luck with my solo mining BTC using cgminer at 250 Mega Hashes per second (Mh/s).

I know its sounds crazy but i believe in luck!

I have a few questions about my mining because when i try to reach my stats at solo.ckpool, it shows nothing.

I get connected to solo.ckpool.org diff 10k with stratum at my BTC address, with WU 2.6M and Diff 28.6T at 200 Mh/s

1. Why i don't get any info of my address?
2. How i can calculate a minimum hashrate for at least luck mining?

Thanks, and I'm sorry for the silly questions
 Wink
. assuming that it is hashing it is so small that it will take a day or so to even show one share.

4. I'm using a modified Cgminer 3.7.2  that uses a graphic card, so maybe that is the problem?

try the 4-5 terahash miner it is supposed to work.
