not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but there's not much online regarding renting SHA256 hashrate and I've recently rented some rigs from MiningRigRental (MRR) with the hopes of sending the hashrate to CKpool. It hasn't gone as planed, to say the least.

MRR has been awful, with multiple rig owners taking the rental sats but leaving me with zero hashrate for hours and hours. MRR allows rig owners to extend the rental (for hours) without providing any hasrate (literally zero shares transferred for over 6 hours)..

Tickets opened with MRR are left without any (zero) response to for hours, it's currently about 8 hours since my first ticket, no replies from rig owner or MRR.

[snip] . . . .

TL;DR MRR will take your money and not even bother to reply to your tickets, and/or requests for cancellation/refund for hours. Buyer beware, sadly I feel like I've been scammed basically..

I have use miningrigrentals and have to say these rigs are all run individually, I have encountered rigs going offline and just open a refund request which does get sorted sooner or later. Overall it has been good, but the rate is set by the owner... meaning the rates you saw earlier in the week may have been changed or more likely those are currently rented. When a rental period is up the site calculates the advertised hash rate vs what you actually got, if you ended up with less you are refunded that portion. So, you'll be made whole.

Haven't tried NiceHash but sounds like it's timing for both, and don't forget to check the RPI before renting.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate your feedback.  Yes, I know there are different rig owners - and perhaps it's a coincidence that the same thing happened to me twice in one week using 2 different rig owners. But I don't think it's a coincidence.

Two different owners I've rented rigs from both seemed to do the same thing - the rig starts off OK, but after less than 20 minutes the rig goes silent (as the trx fees spike), then MRR allows the rig owner to extend and extend the rental (despite zero shares or hashrate being sent) until the premium moment is over (ie trx fees dropped and I could've rented the same rig for 30% less at the later moment). I waited over 7 hours for a 3 hours rental to pick up again and in those 7+ hours I submitted multiple tickets and was ignored.

The rigs (was two rentals from the same owner last night) later started up again after the trx fees dropped to the floor again but I was still charged at the premium rate (as if trx fees were still elevated) meanwhile the rig owner's own rig prices dropped over 25-30% by the time he started mining for me again. So I was forced to pay a very premium rate for a later (very average) moment. In the end MRR allowed this rig owner to screw me out of at least a 25-30% premium and they reimbursed me less than 1/3 of what I was expecting hours ealier (when I wanted to rent, during peak trx moment).

Again, MRR allowed a rig owner to scam me and sat by silently (didn't get a reply from MRR for nearly 12 hours) while it happened. I'll never use them again nor can honestly say they are trouble - buyer beware.

You could well be right, and in a sense a little exploit hole is being used or not. All I can say is when I used it and when a rig went offline, I know after a rental period it does a check and credits back if the rig fails to meet advertised hash.

Just the way I understood & used it there is a set price on a rig, you then just rent it for however many hours which it should run for that entire rental period. I usually rent the cheapest available even if it is multiple and with best RPI rating. Don't blame you for having the same nonsense 2 out of 2 times though. If and when I rent again on there I'll keep a much closer eye out.

Specifically I rented earlier today (when trx fees were spiking) and the rig owner sent about 10 mins of hash then nothing (for over 6.5 hours). I know NiceHash does this (leaves you w/o hashrate when other pay more), but they are cheaper than MRR, plus I noticed the rig owners at MRR were suddenly charging about 20-25% more BTC/Th/day when I decided to rent (compared to all of this past week, when trx fees were already up), but did so because trx fees were unbelievable.

Blockparty 49 is over and here are the planing for the next Blockparty Run 50

You can write here or in the german / englisch mixed main topic here --> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/groupbuy-solo-mining-blockparty-2023-number-50-bis-jetzt-10-blocke-gefunden-5474019

##########################

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.005 BTC, 0.01 BTC or more BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 10 blocks --> 193 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217, 780525

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address bc1qlpd45688hce39lusur8sdnuzy3z2dx4uvrgpkt and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2023 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2023 all payments are used around longer to run.

As long as open slots are available the coins can be sent at any time without an OK from me

Of course there is no guarantee that we will find a block, but it would be mega if we repeat the runs until we find one!
Should something happen like: Nicehash account hacked, deposit address in forum post hacked, BTC sent to a wrong address, etc. no compensation for the loss will be provided. Everyone takes this risk or does not participate in the block party if they do not agree with it. However, I assure that everything will be done with the highest care as before.

Yes, some big player rent all the Hashpower on nicehash. We have time, no problem.

It has to do with the transaction fee spike, we have not seen this spike since June, and many blocks had fee rewards of over 1 BTC, I can't run the exact math on this now but anywhere around maybe a 6% increase in BTC profitability, which would translate to almost 6% more rewards and thus 6% more expensive hashrate, right now the average transaction is at 40 sat/Vbtye down from 100 just a few hours ago, so I think this spike is about over and nicehash prices should fall soon.
Thanks for that information and yes could be.
We are back on normal speed

You can tinker till the cows come home. Nothing but overall hashrate matters.

Okay.

Well. I'm seriously considering adding another ASIC to my mining set up. I going through all the planning to make it happen.
I think the hardest part is letting my partner know that I'm gonna adding another miner.

Something I've seen and would like to try is to fine tune my solo mining settings, so I know that I'm getting the best odds for what I have. I'm thinking perhaps all the default settings might not be getting me the best chances.
