realistically if you do not have 5ph don't solo.
or if you have under 1th like the r606 solo is fine.
My and my partners have 900th we do not do solo. As power bill is in the 2500-3000 range monthly.. And we would more then 17 months to hit a block. with standard luck. so 3000 x 17 = 51000 out of pocket with zero coins then hit a block worth 125000
and that is not true after ½ ing .

Oh got it. I always thought that bestshares was the best amount Ive submitted towards a block in all time. Alas, shares dont mean much unless its pointed towards a pool for distribution purposes right? I wish there was a discord server for this forum. Would be great! (quick someone tag @ck!)

Not your shares, your best share needs to hit the lucky difficulty number which is currently 10,183,488,432,890 - 10.18 T
your accepted shares can be wayyyyyyyyyyyy passed that magic number and you may never have a best share of the magic number.
so thats what makes it luck.
you can be mining for a day and only submit "shares": 20622966027, but your best share is greater then 10,183,488,432,890 - 10.18 T
then you solved it and get the block reward
