Yolodice investor here, with current investments total >1 BTC.

I love to play dice. But only with house edge on my side; and I am lazy. So I "invest". I am playing dice, passively! Others roll the dice for me, while I have statistical advantage. It's actually a lot of fun!

Also I am long-term investor. In analogy to stock market, I want dividend income. Not to speculate on future value of investment. I don't want to "sell" (close) investment for a long time, if ever.

I have simple suggestion to improve investment program. If implemented, I will urge Yolodice to PLEASE turn on the dilution fee ASAP!

# The problem with investment now

No way to withdraw profit, unless closing investment.

Therefore: No way to withdraw profit, without eating a dilution fee from investment closed and immediately re-opened.

# The easy solution

1. Set initial value of investment as a "low watermark" (lowat). This is easy. I see the system already tracks initial value of each investment.

2. Add feature to reduce investment by any amount that does not reduce it below lowat, without closing investment. If investment is in a loss, then it cannot be reduced without closing it. If investment is in profit, then profits can be taken out to wallet balance. Amount should be chosen by investor, up to maximum of current profit above lowat.

3. TURN ON THE DILUTION FEE!!

# Why I want this

It is not just me, I am guessing that any long-term investor probably thinks like this:

If it's a good investment, I want to park my money there. Only take distribution of profits as income, like stock dividend.

A big enough investor could probably live off income of YD investments.

I see my share of the bankroll slowly shrinking. I do not like it. If 2% dilution fee, it would be ok... my share of new investors' dilution fee would be compensation.

I only think to withdraw investment in these circumstances:

1. Personal emergency, need money, no choice.

2. Need capital for my own business. In this case, it makes financial sense to close my YD investment, make more money, then pay 2% to open new YD investment.

If bankroll gets too big, dilution fee should be increased. Another feature suggestion: Dynamic dilution fee. Take moving average of investor profits for some time window, and calculate the dilution fee according to a targeted profit level. This optimizes investor profits, while encouraging bankroll growth to follow growth of gambling.

3. I find a much better investment, and stop to invest in YD. But what is so much better than share of gambling profits? LOL. Anyway, in this case the dilution fee is irrelevant.

# What to do meanwhile

Now I have my money divided into 20 investments (max # of investments). One big, few medium, many small. This way, if dilution fee is turned on, I can take profit by closing small investments after my total profit exceeds them. However, I will eventually run out of those.

Also it is ugly. I would prefer to have one big investment, or a small number of medium investments to make accounting easier.

If YD makes lowat feature, I will also ask if feature can be added to merge existing investments. This way I keep my initial investment, and do not miss any potential profit from vast betting as I click to close and reopen positions.

(Edit: Fix styling, markdown not supported.)

Agreed, would like to see dilution fees added ASAP.

Great news, can't wait!
That will definitely make investing even more interesting!

As an investor in the site, albeit it small, are there any future possibilities where the site will offer more games than dice and will the investment option stay indefinitely or what are the plans for that?

Ethan spoke about new games in February Grin

So it seems the opinions about adding more games are pretty much split... One thing for sure - I am now certain that adding any game apart from just pure dice is what we need. It has to be fun, and I am leaning towards something social that would bring interaction (healthy competition) between users.

Last few days I've been traveling and connecting to YOLOdice from various places. I found out that unfortunately some WiFi networks only allow connections to port 80 and 443 (HTTP and HTTPS ports). This sucks, because we run our WebSockets endpoint on ports 8080 and 8081.

So I have opened a new WebSocket endpoint on the 443 port and it's now the default port the web client will connect to. Old ports will be available for some time too, so no worries.

If you're just a player, nothing changes, maybe except  the fact that your connection could be more reliable if you're using any bizzare Internet Providers.

Tell me if you see any difference!

Cheers,
Ethan

Hi maus0728, I'm one of the users who watching/playing at YOLOdice for 3+ years. first of all, I'm not kinda super interested in investing in casino bankrolls. always kinda feel like I can multiply coins by rolling dice Cheesy. but I have gone through https://yolodice.com/#stats/investor (especially investment structure ) investment structure shows clearly about how much each investment made a profit so far and how long they been opened and % share in the bankroll. those figures made me more confident about investing. and also I knew a few users who made a decent profit by investing in YOLOdice bankroll in the long run. So far all my coin investments made nice profits just in a week(1.2% in BTC,6.2% in LTC, 4.2% in DOGES).it always feels like I'm rolling dice whenever they go up/down(investments). it's really fun watching the stats going up/down.personally for me weekly anything >= 1% is decent profit.

there is no such thing as a locking/unlocking period. you can anytime invest/divest your coins. the best part about YOLOdice is all the deposits/withdraws are instant :-) and I recommend you to read the investment faq https://yolodice.com/#faq (it covers all investors perspective Q/A)
Hello YOLO_LIFE,

Thank you for sharing your personal experience in investing with YOLOdice. It actually clear some doubts in myself since this is my first time investing in cryptocurrency and a beginner in using one of the top gambling website. Also, this is pretty much exciting because I don't need to worry about withdrawing my funds whenever I feel like to.

I have also read the FAQ section on investing and it pretty much covers all my questions especially the dilution fee which is very common in some of the gambling website I discovered recently.

LOL! the investor stats is very impressive to watch and I can't imagine those big chunks of sites' profit.

Hello!

I just finished creating an account in YoloDice and I am planning also to invest after some readings in the website? Can you please tell me more about your personal experiences in investing? Also, I have one noob question

After you have seen that your investment grows, can you immediately withdraw the funds from the website? or Is there a specific date withdrawal date?

Thank you! I am planning to add my XRP in my account.

This is definitely a very good share and experience shared for others as people may have doubts initially as everyone has at time heard or seen losing the money and those notions may continue for long time. But when people keep sharing their experience and also now for years site has been really doing well in terms of instant payment and withdrawal makes it lucrative for anyone to join and check out for themselves if it is working for them or not.

You must convert XRP to one of supported currencies at Yolo.

Hi, I'm not sure where you read that it did, but YOLOdice does NOT support XRP.  Only BTC, LTC, ETH, and DOGE (and ETH cannot be publicly invested yet).

Additionally, as soon as you close your investment you can withdraw the funds, there is no specific withdrawal date or anything silly like that, YD does not hold your funds hostage.

Again thank you for notifying and responding so quick I will be ready whenever. I'm assuming I'll be contacted via email, if I should keep up following here for an update instead just let me know please whatever I need to do.

Thank you

I've replied to your email, let's stay in touch. I bet there is a simple explanations, it's the first time I am seeing such an issue.

Cheers,
Ethan

i have had this problem on another site in the past and have no idea why. it was just the one site that wouldnt work with my 2fa and i had been using it for many months before it broke. i am still not sure what caused it because the admins of that site wouldnt help and then closed the site. i just wanted to say that there may be some edge case that causes 2fa to become broken somehow, and i trust that you will fully analyze anyone's account that tries to reset theirs manually to help protect everyone else

Double check that your time is properly synced on your device as time drift could cause issues like that if it isn't being synced properly.

Thankfully this is "fixed" now - there was nothing wrong with YD, @zrippd was entering old credentials and that's why he could not log in. But @kolloh,  you are right - the first thing to check if your 2FA is not getting accepted is if your device has valid time/date. Even one minute skew will make your codes invalid since they are time-sensitive.

Cheers,
Ethan

@ethan_nx, just made an account at yolodice and just one noob question before i proceed to investing. What's the process if we want to invest? Is it Deposit then press the Invest button? That easy?

Yep. Make sure to secure your account (2FA, strong password set, etc) before depositing.

Thanks for the reminder @DarkStar_, just did that.

My account jumped from level 1 to level 4 after investing  Smiley.
