Good old GPU mining. That is where I started and where I got my first one. Mined Scrypt and traded to BTC.
Eventually scaled up and did ok mining with GPU's.

Me too.. My first bitcoin I received in the form of payment from the signature campaign that I was working on and It was a really great feeling when I received my first bitcoin and since then I am just trying to multiply my bitcoins for the safety of the future and want that it should keep on growing more and more
Most of the people who are here have received bitcoin either by buying it or from signature campaign. And that is the best way to begin the journey and yes some signature campaigns are giving really good pay out so for the beginner I think the signature campaign is the best source and the safe source of earning bitcoins.

I have been part of 2 signature campaigns & earnt around 2 bitcoin with them but yeah, most of my stash is bought from exchanges with my earnt fiat. I've never sold any bitcoin. HODLING for better times.

IIRC my first bitcoin came from nanaimogold, bought them with liberty reserve.
my first buy popped up in my wallet roughly 2-3 weeks after sending 17 USD (cash in envelope) to some dude in canada by postal service.
I really cant remember if i got them from a faucet website or someone was giving away to the users.
But at least i got to meet the bitcoin.

my firsts bitcoin came from a casino which i believe is called betchain, i got there a non deposit bonus of 0.005 and somehow managed to rollover 35 times, all in all i withdrew 0.06 bitcoins what was one of the biggest achievements in my gambling life
