Ahead of July 1 pot sales, officials up security and stockpile

Nevada's medical marijuana dispensaries have stockpiled one to two months worth of pot sales, Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak said Thursday, in preparation for the start of legal recreational sales at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

So the Nevada Dispensary Association, in conjunction with local law enforcement, is working with the Las Vegas Valley's 37 dispensaries permitted to sell recreational marijuana to increase safety measures at those locations.

"We've been very fortunate in Nevada. We haven't seen many serious security issues thus far," said Andrew Jolley, Nevada Dispensary Association president. "However, we are very vigilant and very concerned about public safety and our employees' safety."

Association officials joined Sisolak and Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, at a press conference to emphasize their hope that opening legal recreational sales would kill illegal marijuana dealing.

"Our goal as an industry is to bring it out of the black market into a safe, tested, regulated market in the most professional way we can," Jolley said, adding that it could take time to realize that goal.

I call bullshit. If all pharmaceuticals were banned as of today, 90% (random fact) of healthy humans would still live to an old age. I know I would anyway, why shouldnt others?

They may live to 50-60 years, but what about their children? By banning the pharmaceuticals, you are banning vaccinations as well. Diseases which were once eradicated will come back, such as Smallpox, Measles, Diphtheria, Anthrax.etc. Millions, if not billions of people will die from them. And have you imagined how worse the TB epidemic is going to be in the third world nations, if the antibiotics are not available?

'I Was Wrong': Judge Admits Jailing People for Pot 'Haunts' Him After Cannabis Saved His Life

After being diagnosed with a terminal disease, a judge who "hated marijuana" now regrets all those prosecutions as cannabis saved his life.

Prior to this year, the state of Florida was regarded as one of the worst possible states to be caught in possession of cannabis. According to a 2009 analysis by former NORML Director Jon Gettman, no state in this country punished people more severely for minor marijuana offenses than Florida. However, thanks in part to a former Florida judge, all this is gradually changing.

By October 3, for the first time in its history, the state will issue IDs to medical marijuana patients. However, according to the former judge, the law doesn't go nearly far enough.

Throughout the course of his career as a Florida judge, Doug Bench hated marijuana. He admits to locking up hundreds of people for this plant and did so because he thought it was the right thing to do. While it is too late for the now-retired judge to help those whose lives he likely ruined through the persecution of pot, he is taking actions to help countless others now and in the future.

When Bench was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, which can result in a slow and painful death, his life was saved after realizing the benefits of cannabis in treating his disease. Now, Bench has made it his life's work to wake people up to the "70 years of lies" the US government has told the citizens about marijuana.

The pure and simple answer is this. Drugs can make you well if you are sick. That's why the medical uses them. If we were all well from our home-grown drugs, the medical would be out of business.

The side benefit of illegal drugs is, all the money cops make arresting people for nothing, and confiscating their property.

Drugs consume our bodies and are addictive, and will make us poor and seriously affect our lives, so we should stay away from him.

Should is the main word there, as in it's your recommendation.  But adults should have the liberty to decide what they do and do not put into their bodies.  Going against your recommendation shouldn't make one end up in prison.

I'd also recommend that you don't eat 500g of sugar per day, or not to eat 15 cheeseburgers per day.  But at the end of the day you have the freedom to make that decision for yourself, and won't end up in prison either way.  Wink

When people are encouraged to give up drugs I really want to make these people into a database and that they never under any pretext not provided medical care and did not sell drugs. I would have looked then what they wrote in their posts.

It all depends on the principles of man. From narcotic drugs that can cause more harm to the body it is better to abstain, but it is not necessary to completely close the pharmacy.

We know since from the very start drugs  can't do any good things to anyone. So as long as we can avoid it let us stay away from it, as much as we can. Drugs can destroy life if we use and allow it to be happen to us.

I agree. Shut down the pharmacies.    Cool

When there were no drugs around, the average human life expectancy was somewhere around 15-17 years. And now this has risen to more than 80 years. Ban the pharmaceuticals, and once again we will go back to the 15-17 era.

And probably more people would start looking into other ways of treating themselves instead of chugging down pills. Which would lead to more new discoveries, which would result in people living longer.

6 Plants Other Than Cannabis That Are High In Healing Cannabinoids

... also used to relieve anxiety, fatigue, migraines, and arthritis. Echinacea is a bit different than cannabis because it uses cannabimimetics instead of cannabinoids to engage the endocannabinoid system, particularly the CB2 receptor. Similar to THC in cannabis, the N-alkyl amides (NAAs) in echinacea are responsible for regulating the immune system, pain and inflammation.

--------------------

None of this is nearly up to the levels available with cannabis, but it clearly explains known therapeutic benefits of these plants.

Better yet, the evolving science is been guided by the cannabis research to look in these particular directions.

This will actually create useful protocols for investigating many other plants as well.

'Amsterdam on steroids':
Las Vegas dispensaries brace for Saturday start of recreational sales

The Oregon-based Farma dispensary began humbly as a medical marijuana boutique, serving a small portion of Portland with specialty pot products for the better part of a year.

But when recreational sales began on Oct. 1, 2015, owner Sam Heywood saw his customer base increase tenfold overnight, as hundreds of buyers flooded into a 1,200-square-foot dispensary accustomed to serving fewer than several dozen patients a day.

"One day we were a small pharmacy serving only medical patients and the next we were a busy retailer," Heywood said. "It was fascinating and unusual to say the least."

Farma was one of more than 100 dispensaries across Oregon to start recreational sales that day, the majority of which loaded up on staffers and inventory to handle lines with scores of eager local and out-of-state marijuana buyers.

Fueled by one of the world's largest tourism industries, Nevada is preparing to do the same on July 1. A May report published by Gov. Brian Sandoval's task force on marijuana estimates that up to 63 percent of recreational buyers will be tourists.

"Everything we know shows that millennials are very pro-marijuana, and that's the new marketing push," said Nevada state Sen. Tick Segerblom, a longtime marijuana advocate. "This is a game-changer for Las Vegas and tourism here as far as I'm concerned."

"Amsterdam on steroids," he added.

Essence Medical Dispensary owner Armen Yemenidjian is one of 37 Las Vegas Valley applicants to receive an early start license to begin recreational sales on Saturday. His dispensary is the closest to the Strip — right on Las Vegas Boulevard north of Sahara Avenue, the dividing line between the Strip and downtown Las Vegas.

Yemenidjian, whose other dispensary on Tropicana Avenue near Jones Boulevard also received an early start license, said his facilities stocked up on more than three months worth of marijuana flower, edibles and concentrates to serve the current medical market and keep pace with expected brisk recreational sales.

Yemenidjian's location near the Strip, which he said serves more than 200 daily customers but still loses money as a medical-only facility, figures to have some of the longest lines. An average of about 40,000 people a day pass by the dispensary, according to a 2015 Clark County report on pedestrian traffic.

He estimated that his clientele would increase "by two to three times" overnight.

"It's a historic moment, and I think the growth will be both immediate and gradual," Yemenidjian said. "We're ready to go and very excited."

Dont use drugs just to get high there are some other ways to get high you dont need any drugs to do that. In our country we have an war on drugs campaign to stop this things that slowly killing a country like cancer because of this drugs criminality is increasing, cases like murder without any reasons and just for fun always occuring in the streets. Female whole are increasing because of their addicted parent that didn't properly raise them. Cops and government officials are all corrupted but now its all changimg because of our president.
I think its drugs is what can make you feel high. Possibly you are talking about being positive in every way, possibly from laughing or something alike, I don't really know what you are suggesting. If you say you're high, it's already associated with drug usage, and that's not okay. I think it's best to be clean and just keep off the grass, you know.

The point behind making DMT illegal, has to do with the point that the superrich want to reduce the population of the planet to around 100 million. When they get the population down to that, then they will make DMT legal again, and stop killing people to get rid of it.

DMT is Dimethyltryptamine, right? What this has to do with population control? And why does the super-rich want to reduce the global population? A larger population means more slaves for them.

A large population means less control ability over them. DMT illegality with laws that put DMT people to death, would get rid of all people, because all people have DMT in them naturally. The laws would be repealed when we get down to 100 million left on earth or so.

Yeah, that's correct for DMT.

Those that do DMT aren't concerned about the legality behind it.  In South America, where you'd actually have the ayahuasca ceremony, it's not illegal.
