Hitting jackpots is highly determined by luck. I have never also won big in my life but some people I know have. Man is naturally jealous and self-centered. When someone wins big there is sometimes a feeling of "It should be me" or "Why was it not me?". But we should learn to suppress this feeling because it is not proper. I have felt disappointed for not winning big but I have never envied someone for winning big. Envy can bring evil thoughts which can lead to crimes like stealing or scam. Rather I celebrate with the person and even share drinks and dance together. And we should also understand that it is not everyone that will win big. Some people will just earn an average income from gambling and should be okay with that.

I feel indifferent. Here in the Philippines I came across some news back in 2010 of some Overseas Filipino Worker who got back to the Philippines, and out of some funny joke he tried to make a bet on our version of the Powerball. Lo and behold he won if I'm not mistaken around 740 million Pesos back then which in USD was probably around more or less 15 million bucks, and he did it all while being a first time bettor too. I never felt anything about it, didn't feel inspired to take the chance and make the bet in hopes of actually landing the jackpot, never felt envy that he got a little less over a billion pesos just from jotting down a few numbers here and there. I didn't feel proud and happy for him too cause at the end of the day he's not gonna give anyone he doesn't know a piece of the pie.

I don't get why people are stoked about other people winning the lottery, it's one thing to celebrate other people's success but it's another to actually congratulate people who lucked it out, and to top it all off someone that's most likely you never even knew your whole life.

I don't envy him because most of such winners lose the money in just a few years. You can read about lottery winners years after, there are many articles about them.
It's very hard to manage such wealth in s smart way because you haven't had to work for it and aren't used to being rich. People who suddenly become rich want to show wealth and try everything, so they buy expensive properties, not knowing that they are also expensive to maintain. They buy luxury cars and cry when they have to pay taxes and fix them...
I wish this guy all the best and hope he hires professionals to manage his wealth.

I supposed I would just be okey with it, after all, lotteries are supposed to be random so theoretically that person who won at their first time had the same chances a person who continues to play for many years had.

There is nothing constructive on feeling envy on the luck of others and I do not think other's luck is the reason which is supposed to lead someone to partake on gambling or playing lottery, because people are supposed to have low expectations while wagering money; and keeping in mind the wins of others only makes harder to keep realistic expectations.

Will definitely be jealous if they win it the first time and I am a long-time lottery bettor. I mean, that's just kind of unfair right? Just imagine how much money I spent and the effort of going back and forth to the lottery outlet even if it rains or it's in the maximum heat of the sun and then one person will get it the first time which I doubt will go back and bet the next time.
But I am not a fan of that gambling habit. My Grandpa is. Actually, that's when I learned how much money he is spending every day just for it and I don't want to copy that because it's a waste of money. The percentage of winning the jackpot is just too low for me that I'd rather bet on something else for just x2 and try to win it every day and make profits.
Up until now, I don't understand why people still keep their hopes up on making that jackpot.

There are millions of people that are into gambling and this man got lucky, there is no other way to explain things than this, so this is nowhere going to motivate me a bit, I will drop motivation for discipline anytime any day, gambling is a total game of luck, I don't feel left out or feel missing out because one person made millions from. gambling, it's good for him but I wish that many lives are changed just like him, gambling is the slowest way to achieve anything and it's better to avoid trying to get anything from gambling, I get more unexpected surprises when I gamble because I was not prepared or expecting it and I like it this way.

It is natural or normal to feel envy/jealous especially if we have tried for so many years but win nothing while some people win it in their first few tries. The most important thing is that our feeling should not lead us into something bad such as pushing ourselves to buy more tickets than we used to do (exceeding our limit).
