I hope that it is not off topic but I am wondering if anyone else is thinking to get an Antminer Z9 mini from the second batch. I know that it is risky and chances to ROI might be very low but it costs now $850-250 (coupon) = $600 and the chances of Zcash forking this year are low. I like the miner: low power usage, low noise, small. In the worst case scenario, I will have $600 paper weight (or I will lose the prepayment). What do you think? I cannot imagine running S11 or anything else requiring > 1200 W with the noise level > 76 dB at home (I will actually need another upgrade to my fuse panel and I am risking the wrath of my wife  Grin). What do you think? I was contemplating getting FPGAs from Senseless or Mineority but it is a lot of money and unknowns. In my mind, GPU mining is dead (I am mining practically only Ether now)

Buy S11 and make an upgrade for wife (Ver.2)

I bought a 6pc Antminer Z9 mini from Batch 3. With coupon 480USD shipped.
But you have to wait up to 70 days .. And the Z9 mini is not quiet
whats an S11?

Mine is dead today, cannot find hashboard any more, I have rebooted and reset, still not working any suggestions? My last temperature check is 75 degree on chip, shouldn't get significantly higher than it.

Hi guys,

Looking for suggestions, quite new to mining equihash coins. what should i mine with my z9?

1) Zcash
2) Zencash
3) Bitcoin gold (before it forks and maybe create seperate coins like monero)

Thank you.

Cheers!

Zencash:
Code:

We have found 1 Zclassic block today, a 1 Bitcoin Private block and multiple Zelcash blocks but currently no Zen blocks.. More miners means we find blocks faster, come join us. Only .8% Fee :-)

Hey everyone, I'm just getting my Z9s up and running and have been playing around with different pools.  So far I've tried Antpool (obviously), Nicehash, Flypool, and this morning I'm giving Mining Pool Hub a try.  I don't mind Antpool but was way more familiar with Flypool from GPU mining and the setup was really easy.  I don't know what the consensus is about Nicehash but I had the worst experience with stale shares over a 24hr period.  I'll try and post a screen shot below.  NH is great to maximize profit (in theory) with the auto switching so after learning about MPH from you all I gave it a shot this morning.

I'd like to make sure I'm setting up my Z9s properly though so here's what I've done so far:  Signed up with MPH, read the FAQs and poked around the website, looked at the Equihash coins they support and saved wallet data for Bitcoin Gold, Zcash, ZenCash, Zclassic, and Bitcoin Cash (should I bother?).  I didn't see support for Komodo, Hush, or this newer one Commercium.

Here's where I'm not sure, do you all suggest auto-exchanging?  Pros/cons?

Now for the Z9 setup I have the URL to "us-east.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com:17023" because the 17023 is the coin-switching port for Equihash (I think I have that right).

Worker is (MPH username).()
Password is whatever I want.

Sorry for the lengthy post, let me know if I left any critical info out.

I have been mining on Flypool (I have 0 rejected shares). I do not think, NiceHash works. I have Antpool as backup. I am at this point only mining ZEC. Very modest OC of 675MHz (14.8 kSols) with board temperatures 64C, fan 70%. I put a "muffler" on my Z9 because my wife (mining at home in a dedicated room with GPU based systems) is sensitive to the noise :-)

13 hours on powermining.pw and not a single payout.

this pool a scam?

Why would you stay on it that long then? I am getting payouts every two hours on flypool. 0.166 yesterday.

Ran for a few hours then went to sleep, was going to test for 24 hours.

Not now.

Yep, back to flypool.

powermining enjoy your free coins.

I see, hate when that happens. Will increase the freq from 650 to 750 tonight. Everyone is saying it's working fine. No invalid shares at 650 the last two days.

Best guess- You are on Zen. There have been no blocks found for Zen since 45h, our pool is very small so it will take long time to find blocks. Definitely no scam.

Payouts are based on Proportional scheme, which means that payments happens after blocks are being found. Our pool pays out every three hours for valid blocks. More miners means more often payouts.

I'm getting about 7% rejected ("stale") shares on antpool.  I'm really new to this mining thing -- is this normal?

7% is kind of a lot but since they are stale it's hard to say if that's your issue or not.  Stale means they would have been valid but they arrived late, so why did they arrive late?  If your miner isn't changing work when the pool sends a work update then the issue is with the miner, if it is something else then it's not the miner.  Like maybe the internet between you and the pool?

I notice that my Z9 goes through phases of high rejects but the pool I am on does not break down types of rejected shares so I don't know what the reason is.  But if I reboot the miner it stops for a while (like hours).  But I am inclined to think my issue is related to the fact that I have it overclocked as high as I can get it to go and be stable.  If I overclock higher (which I certainly did while testing what worked) I get a lot of rejects and lower hashrate.  I found the clock freq that seems to offer the highest stable hashrate and I have left it there, but as I say, it seems to want restarts every now and again to remain stable.  I may lower my freq again if it happens too often.  Your freq seems like it must be quite a bit lower though because you are the in 14k range while I have mine up in the 16k range.

Maybe try a different pool and see what happens?

Am getting around 27 to 30ksols on 2x z9 mini clocked to 700.  It is fairly hot here in the UK right now though.

What's everyone using PPS or PPLNS?
