IMO
In it sucks to be a POW Coin News

Litecoin marketcap is only ~20 million from where it was in Nov 1,2013 .
It has ~ 6 months before it rewards halves from 50 to 25.
Which means at best it will be half as profitable, what will be interesting is what happens if it falls below a 50 million marketcap before that time, odds are it will and then it will plummet.

When that plummet hits litecoin, its value will drop below $1 .
That is when Zeit's Price will begin to skyrocket, and everyone that has been selling zeitcoins for worthless litecoins , are going to be in for a real awakening. LOL  Cheesy

Hi Fred,

2.0.1.5 or 2.0.16 both seem to be using about 50% if you are running on a dual processor with zeitcoins.
If your wallet is empty , then they only use ~25% on a dual processor.

........

Zeit Tip,
the more blocks the more secure the zeit network
less blocks mean less CPU usage

In future version we could to switch to any SHA or keccak algorithm for the block generation.
There is no need to use Scrypt anymore. If that's the better choice for the CPU load is another question - but it could safe us lots of memory.

Edit: BTER.com is fully back with new interface and 0% trading fee. Don't forget to give ZEIT your vote. (Place 5/256)

I put my laptop in sleep mode before I came to work today, so my wallet isn't minting. That's probably the reason why no more blocks are being generated.  Cool

Surely I jest!

This short video was part of the background info for the final part of my 'Money & Society' MOOC.

I thought I'd share it as there are very few who really understand what 'money' actually is - and this includes economists & bankers!

Has anyone else experienced the new wallet using excessive CPU%?  It didn't seem to happen when I first upgraded to it, but the past 2 days, it's been hogging 50% to 60%... I've restarted the wallet and the PC and it still ends up about the same.  I like to keep the wallet open all the time but it's slowing the whole PC down.

Fred

Hi Fred,

2.0.1.5 or 2.0.16 both seem to be using about 50% if you are running on a dual processor with zeitcoins.
If your wallet is empty , then they only use ~25% on a dual processor.

On a Quad processor with coins in the zeit wallet it stays under ~20%.

If you are running a dual processor and you need the cpu speed during the day, then you just leave the wallet off until you are ready to let it stake. You could let it stake overnight when not using it.

 Cool

FYI:
One thing you can try is to use coin control and decrease the amount of blocks by combining the amounts into fewer blocks.

I've been using LastPass for at least 3 years, I generate a new 24-character strong password for every single site

(Such as eu37eX6v2#y5J2BU50JR@bNa)

and about a dozen email addies for different purposes

- I never use a 'site logon' email for communicating with friends, for example.

It's always a good idea to review personal security from time to time, if I thought I had owt worth nicking I'd be even more careful Wink

CAUTION:

Guys,

I did a small security check of our forum user database.
Please change all your passes on every single site and exchange.
Engine was able to find some decrypted salted(md5) hashes from the forum in an open hash database.
(mosts sites are using simple md5)

I was able to login on a known exchange with one of the forum accounts. (affected users are PM'ed)
That's showing us: public password lists aren't fake.  Shocked
If I am able to do that - do the math.. How many other evil people are able to do that?

Some of you guys (to be honest: including myself) are always using the same user/pass/mail combination. I'm right, am I not?
That's really negligently and a major issue.

If you are really paranoid, follow these rules:
Use a strong master password that's easy to remember like: my-Mother-1s-k1ll1ng-the-CAT!my-Mother-1s-k1ll1ng-the-CAT!
Use a separate password for every single page.
Create a text password file (in an encrypted container). On Mac you can create a password protected DMG file for that.
Change your master password from time to time and never write it down.
Use 2-factor-auth where ever it's possible
Create 10 or more different mail addresses (or redirection services).
If you have remote access to any of your home pcs or internet servers, then use strong passwords for SSH/FTP or VNC.
Change your standard ports. (Example: SSH 443 -> 8223)
Close every unused port in your router.
Never use any kind of closed source software like Teamviewer. If there is no other way, don't forget to close it. Paste your passes into wallets. Don't use a keyboard for the input. If thats impossible use a virtual keyboard.
Use a Firewall for outgoing traffic (Little snitch on MacOS as an example)

Cheers,
Ray

Zeit Wallet Install Instructions for New Users
Latest Version  2.0.1.6 Gauntlet

Download New Wallets from  http://www.zeit-coin.net
You need Winrar to unzip the wallet, download winrar at
http://rarlabs.com/download.htm

From Here you have 2 Choices,
Option 1: Just start the new zeitcoin-qt.exe and let it sync from scratch , (take 3 days), if it pauses during the sync, you can just leave it , or restart it and it will jump over the slow spots.

Option 2: Fast Way (15 minutes) if you don't want to wait for the Blockchain to sync from the beginning.
Go to Any of the Following Links to get a copy of the Zeitcoin Blockchain from March 5th, 2015.

https://mega.co.nz/#!vd5khZYa!3etuRhzAkF3YrzETr6NrBhfjb_ytPruFDOaIvQ7yStA

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3a3l0akth7dpoeg/ZeitCoin-Blockchain.zip?dl=0

Make sure Zeitcoin is closed
Then Unpack and copy & replace the files from Zeitcoin-Blockchain into
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Zeitcoin
Then open Zeitcoin and it will start syncing the BlockChain from the March 5th, 2015 instead of the start.

 Cool

FYI:

Thanks to Lion for such a cool graphic.

LOL all it took was a 5-minute image search, I think it's from a toy/model catalogue somewhere.

The only artistic talent I have is from the school of 'urinary expressionism' Wink
