I had th same quastion couple of months ago and I decided to invest in altcoin. I've doubled my investment and for now I'm trying to split 50% holding in ETH an other 30% investing in ICO and 20% day trading. This my proportion that works and I hope it will keep on working.
be careful when choosing ICO because now many ico scam, always do research before you go to ico, because i have followed ico scam, eth that I invested not returned even lost all, still be careful in determining ico you choose.
i think should buy alt because altcoin are very dump and if buy altcoin then get much profit when market would be pump.

Eth is good for long term investment but i always believe that diversifying your coins is the best strategy. So if you are wondering either to keep it or not, i guess it is best to use 50% of your eth in buying altcoins that for you has potential and the other 50%, you keep it as eth until it grows.

Distribute this amount wisely. Especially Ethereum now is not so much so you can do with minimal final losses or a very large benefit. To date, I think that you need to average your positions on past investments, for sure your portfolio is now in the red. I slowly buy more of those coins that I bought earlier at a higher cost.

buying altcoins on ico also does not guarantee that you will get big profits because the market conditions are bleeding. so I think that I can stand in ethereum and wait for high profit prices in the future.

I think that now it is a lot better to hold to the Ethereum. It is under valuated and will grow sooner or later. Investing in ICO right now is at least risky and I don't recommend it.

It is amazing, how the time affects how would people react and how they answer to that question in different periods of time. For now I can say that it would be better to hold your ETH than to sell it and buy any alts instead.
I have seen so many alt coins that were cheaper and I was holding on to ETH thinking it will pave out. I wish i bought altcoins with it as that would got me some profits.
