I am pretty sure guys with 1000 btc will be millionaire that time but 10?
I mean 2030 seems too early for that.

of course has 1000 BTC will become a millionaire, even today if it has 1000 BTC at current prices can be called a millionaire Smiley

I find it funny to see that no one seems to believe Bitcoin can rise by 200 times in 14 years while it has done much bigger things before.

If only 1% of the world population will use Bitcoin than the price will have to be several orders of magnitude higher than it is now. $100,000 is absolutely nothing.

Even with $100,000 per Bitcoin we would be a relatively small currency.

So what if a handful of people become billionaires overnight? It's not like this has ne ear happened before in tech.

Did Facebook not get the billionth member because "oh no, if Facebook hits a billion members mark zuckerburg would become one of the richest persons of the world so a magical force will prevent Facebook from growing that big". No of course not.

A few people might become billionaires overnight, deal with it.

Most whales will have sold by then anyway.

When the bitcoin price is $1 million each, the market cap of bitcoin is only $21 trillion. This is much lower than the current monetary supply.

That is what is called scale effect. It is much easier to grow a penny stock into a dollar per share, than a dollar stock into a $100 per share, although in both cases the increase is 100 fold. If you like Facebook example, take any Internet company that is on the stock exchange and ask yourself the following question: why despite all the successes in the recent 10 years or more, shares like Apple, Google or Facebook are still below $1k?
The same applies to Bitcoin. We went all the way from cents to $1k (which is btw. an amazing achievement), but it is much more difficult to grow further, if there is still relatively little done in terms of mass adoption, for example.

I don't like the idea of copying the topic of being the millionaire by 2020 with 100BTC. What is the point in bringing this current topic. 15 years from now, most of the people posting here won't even remember about bitcoin talk forum, let alone this topic. This perspective is so remote in terms of Bitcoin that is not even worth speculating, as nothing reasonable can be said. You could as well open a topic, would I be a billionaire with 1 BTC by 2050, but what is the point of such discussion?

The point is that while 2020 is only 4 years away and 2050 is a remote time, 2030 can be considered distant enough to be worth speculating and near enough to think that this community will still be active by then (there are communities that have been around since the 90s).
Let's make clear one thing first. You wrote: 2020 is not ONLY 4 years away. The whole Bitcoin history is 6 years up to now. So that is almost doubling what we have lived so far. That means a lot of events that potentially may change how we see Bitcoin, including mass adoption, or including a complete failure after series of p&d events.
Now having said that, speaking what lies beyond 2020, whether it is 2030, 2040 or 2050 it does not really matter, as we are equally clueless. That is why I think this topic doesn't make much sense.

if with just 10BTC can make you become a millionaire , what about people who own 1000BTC? i think they'll be a quillionaire  Grin

Does anyone on this forum have 1000 BTC? I wouldn't think so as I doubt that most people invest over $450,000 in Bitcoin. Personally, I would never do that.

1000 BTC were nothing back in 2010, in fact they could have been mined very easily. You're thinking in today's terms which doesn't work. That era is finished, very few people could buy 1000 BTC all at once now.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a few people on this forum with 1000+ BTC. Remember that the forum has been going since 2010/11, and price has risen substantially. In 2011 I was a miner selling mined BTC to pay electricity bills - and people were buying BTC, 50 or 100 at a time, for around $1 per BTC.

I think a bitcoin will be worth more than $100,000 in 2030. So you can easily be a millionaire. But that millionaire is different from today's.

If 10 BTC made you a millionaire, then someone with 1000 BTC would be worth $100,000,000. In 2013, there were over 50,000 people who had at least $100,000,000. If you had 100,000 BTC, they would be worth $10 billion. In 2013, there were over 2000 billionaires.

I do not understand, with 1000 BTCs, you will need a price of $1000 to become a millionaire. Please correct me if I'm wrong. One million is 1,000,000 in my understanding.

bitcoin price is currently $450, if you have 1000 BTC then you sell at $450, you will have $450.000 = 6,352,009,929.12 IDR and in my country it has become a millionaire * 1 USD = 14,112.00 IDR  *CMIIW

To OP,

Yes!  But not because you have 10 or 100 btc.  You can do it with hard work,  smart investing and good business strategy.   ;-)

Best answer ever, Nut what if he lives in pure poverty in india, with no access to banking or no real job prospects. Then the answer will be no. He wont be a millionaire from holding coins or trying to work for it. This is the sad fact. We must accept it.

Haha that's a very good point, and it's not a small thing that btc is so unevenly distributed.  If it ever becomes widely accepted and one satoshi is worth a few cents or a dollar even...yeah, the whales might easily become the richest folks in the world very quickly.  It's interesting to contemplate.

But I doubt that will happen and I doubt 10btc now will make you a millionaire in your lifetime.  But who knows?

It's close to impossible to predict that. For now we see momentum has come. Bitcoin is rising again. For how long? Now clue mate.
For me the test will be the price of bitcoin 2020, if we reach 3k in 4 years, i am positive we can reach a 5 digit figure in 2030.
