I would definitely choose 1 BTC over 10 ETH. Some say it's not advisable to hold BTC with the incoming event on August 1. I personally think that I should hold BTC instead of ETH. The potential of BTC is higher than the potential of ETH on raising the price.

But what about what I said ? The trick is to get more bitcoins at the end. For this you buy ETH using fiat money - and this is very important ! - and then you win in both because the amount of indirect bitcoins you bought increase because ETH price increases, and in term of fiat you are winning too because Bitcoin price rose.

If you are investing using fiat money, just go with Ethereum. There is a simple reason for it : your Ethereum value will increased in BTC, and your Bitcoin value will increase in USD. Thus you will end up having a double win which you would have not on Bitcoin alone.

Split your investments 50:50 or 30:70 in favor of Bitcoin. Also after the fork Bitcoin on the main chain might go down considerably in price so you could buy then and net more profit.

Also my thought.
This is the best way you can do so you'll stop confusing yourself.
These two coins are great for long term investment so why should choose only one if it will give you high profit in the future.
Always go for a high profit and don't waste every single cent.

Always split up your investment. I think BTC might be the one to stay in the long term. Simply because it was the first and is the "king"

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow?  Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

Thanks ladies and gents!

It's really hard to speculate the value of coins. But, I guess since BTC is the main crypto currency ever since, and it bloomed a lot. I still think that it will still grow bigger. It's really hard to predict, but just look on the picture. It started very low few years ago and look at it's value now. Same goes with other crypto especially ETH. Maybe you can just invest your money to both. Just to be safe.

10 ethereum is much better and more profitable. Rather I suggest you to diversify between btc and eth.

I agree with diversifying. If 10 ETH is your budget, go 5 ETH and 0.5 BTC. If you like riskier bets, then spread 10-20% of your budget on promising altcoins, such as AiCoin.

Divide it  between the two depending upon your other holdings with more money in BTC than ETH.

Which one to buy depends on a lot of factors I think bitcoin is going to grow a lot in the next months so I will choose bitcoin but then I will change to ETH since I think that despite the great amount of market cap that it has lost I think it is going to eventually recover it so it is a good investment after bitcoin reaches its top price in the next months.

I think for now most people will choose 1 BTC, because 10 ETH is not enough to beat the bitcoin price, but if the ETH price returns to 0.15, then everyone will certainly choose 10 ETH
Yes people will choose for 1btc because of price currently increase than eth. Seems eth now is currently dump but for sure it willl recover.

How about half btc and half eth. both has the potential to increase in price. just be smart and watch the chart of both tokens. bitcoin and ethereum are the leadings in cryptocurrency and I could say that this 2 was the best pick.

Both are okay, since you can swap to ETH and vice versa. It's not really hard to choose between those two because both of them are profitable. Split into 2 or just stick to Bitcoin are the best choice you will get.

How about buying both? Spreading your risk is better than putting all your eggs in one basket. Ethereum has a high ceiling, but it is anyone's guess how it will perform in the next few years. Bitcoin on the other hand is more established and adopted, in my opinion the number one crypto currency.

For now, eth is used mainly by the ICOs and for trading, that could change, but who knows. If I have three thousand dollars to invest on both eth and bitcoin, I'll buy seventy percent bitcoin and thirty percent Eth.

Hold 5eth and .5btc, because price growth is almost similar. Diversified holding helps to avoid loss happening due the price fluctuations. When eth raised all of a sudden its been suggested as a temporary growth, but the same has been lasting long. This makes both a sustainable asset for profiting in the future.

If I have $3000, my investment choice will be to diversify and buy 70% BTC and 30% ETH. But I will invest after 1 Aug .
Its a nice idea to invest after august 1 on btc because there is a probability that price would dump at that time, and might be an opportunity again to buy cheap bitcoins. On the other hand, I think you shouldn't invest too much on eth, but get other coins because there are many hacks that are centered around ETH now. If I were to choose between 10 ETH or 1 BTC, I would choose 1 BTC just because it has a more potential to grow.

Why ETH? Just buy some nice decentralized crypto's like BTC, LTC, why bother with eth?

You can grab some SIA as well, pretty nice too.
