The best choice is to invest it all in bitcoin. No other altcoin will offer better returns or be more safe. Do you know of any altcoin that has multiple wall street hedge fund managers predicting it will be 1 million dollars. No, only bitcoin has this.

I can probable that you can find out a coin 100% safe but many coins are 90% safe when you invest in it like: bitcoin and ethereum. With bitcoin and ethereum you just need to hold in the short time to see good result. But with other coins then It depend on coin which you want to invest, your investing strategy and your analysis, any coin you have to wait 5 - 6 months even 1-2 years but any coins you only need 1 -2 week.How long should I hold it?

just go with Bitcoin. if you still want to get into Altcoin make sure you divide what percentage of each coin. of course, Bitcoin who gets the most part of the division.
